**By the Co-Creator of The Reading Bible ―ECPA 2022 Bible of the Year!**
Confused. Frustrated. Apathetic. If you feel this way about the Bible, you’re not alone. The reality is that we’ve been set up to fail when we read the Bible, inheriting barriers and habits that make reading Scripture harder than it needs to be. Alex Goodwin, co-founder of the Institute for Bible Reading, will show you a better way forward.
Discover how the physical format of our Bibles can make or break our Bible reading and how changing our reading habits can help us see that Scripture is alive. Learn how the ancient collection of writings compiled in the Bible tells a story that is still unfolding―a story God is inviting you to live into today. You’ll get Alex was once intimidated (and bored) by Bible reading too! He presents his discoveries in ways that are easy to access, full of illustrations, and peppered with humor to keep you engaged. Whether reading on your own or with a church or small group, you’ll be surprised at how your fascination will develop and your life will be transformed as you read and enjoy Scripture in fresh, new ways.
In 2019, as a Campus Pastor, our head of visitor experience came to our team and mentioned how so many people were asking how to begin getting into scripture. As an Instagram addict myself, I wondered how a series of books inspired by God himself, and that I preached from regularly, weren’t more interesting to a pastor like myself, like social media was.
Fast forward a few months to 2020 and I discovered the Bible Reset podcast on the launch day of its first episode and I knew I had found my people and the answers to so many of my questions. This book is a synthesis of what I knew to be true. I’m now a passionate evangelist of this way of reading. I read this whole book in a week! I live in Denver so maybe I can meet up with you guys and see how I can support to expand the vision.
Thank you guys for everything you do! As someone who grew up with reference Bibles, I feel like I have completely rediscovered the scriptures over the past few years!
This book is very accessible and gives a fresh perspective on learning to read, understand, and enjoy scripture. He gives great examples and illustrations, and I found myself highlighting a lot of sections to use in my own teaching of the Bible. I really enjoyed the book, especially the author's conversational way of writing. I would recommend this book to those who teach the Bible as well as those who are new to reading scripture or want to go deeper in their understanding of scripture.

If you haven't read anything on the subject of reclaiming the Bible and Bible reading, this will be a great resource for you. If you have already been having this conversation, it will be a great affirmation and encouragement to press on. Short, simply written, without a lot of extra fluff, and based on the teaching from the podcast of the same name, it's a great alternative to Glenn R. Paauw's book, "Saving the Bible from Ourselves". I recommend both, but this is the more approachable introduction to the discussion.
This book is essentially a long-form advertisement for the reader's Bible Goodwin worked on. Read this book for an extremely thorough explanation if why you should buy and read that other book. Which is fine. I'm good with people reading the Bible. 2.5 stars
Half of this book is really good, and had pretty profound and helpful things to say! The other half felt like an advertisement for the version of the Bible the author helped create, could have lived without some of that.
