Previously seen in the Once Upon A Nightmare Anthology, M. Bonnet’s DҽʅҽƈƚαႦʅҽ Sσυʅ is chock full of fright, triggers, and Irish Folklore—perfect for Spooky Season.
BʅυɾႦ Fιαԃԋ The world is a hollow place, without my late husband, where darkness threatens to drown me. My medication doesn’t help. I still see things…hear things. Everything in Dublin reminds me of him. Moving to my granda’s house at the edge of the Donegal Woods was suppose to be a change of scenery. But what if a change was all the darkness needed to consume me?
Tԋҽ Hυɳƚ I can smell her despair and sorrow from miles away. She smells so delicious…so pathetic. I have to claim her soul and make her mine. I’ll hunt her to the ends of the earth by whatever means necessary. I am the Sluagh…The Hunt…the darkness. A fate worse than death. You can run, my Wild One, but know that I’ll catch you.
Cσɳƚҽɳƚ Wαɾɳιɳɠʂ Primal k!nk, Irish Folklore, stälking, shape shifting, somnoph!lia, dêath, loss of a loved one, mental illness, and dark themes.
“Her desecrated soul calls to me in a way no other has for centuries. I need to have it.”
I DEVOURED THIS OMG
this is a dark monster romance, irish folklore, human fmc + demon mmc, grief, loss of loved one, stalking, primal play, dub con / non con, breath play, somno, blood play, rough sex, marking, biting, drug abuse, mental illness, death, hea, and duo pov 🖤
“I was already becoming addicted to you, but now I’m obsessed. I’ll never be able to let you go.”
fiadh lost her husband in a motorcycle accident a couple months ago. she’s been grieving and depressed. she tolerated everyone in town gossiping about her and making up rumors. but when she had enough she packed everything up and ran away. she went to her granda’s place to rebuild and start over only to come face to face with the sluagh, an irish folklore and belief of a monster leering in the woods. they call him the hunt and he is completely entranced by fiadh from the moment he felt her sadness and he wants it all to himself.
This is my first read by M. Bonnet and I’m pleasantly surprised! Whilst Delectable Soul is one of the shorter novellas, it’s definitely not without its spice and trigger warnings 👏🏼 This book is all in, from the second you open the book you are hit with all the feels, and whilst you know what’s coming it doesn’t make the book any less exciting or intriguing.
How they have managed to include so much in such a short space of time is beyond me but it was executed so well! So well in fact that I want to read more of them!!
What a fantastic read! I enjoyed this story quite a bit. I’ve never read anything from this author before, and I was pretty intrigued by the folklore. The story is 62 pages long, and the spice scenes are perfect.
Still grieving from her husband’s passing, Fiadh, only 23, decides she needs to move to help her emotionally. She returns home to live with her Granda, who lives near the woods. She meets a man she connects with over romance books. Shmex-based mysterious things happen, and she believes that she is hallucinating or dreaming. As this builds quickly, the story unfolds–the perfect trifecta– creepy, dark, and spicy.
Fiadh lost her husband six months ago and is so devastated and depressed. She moves to her Granda and they are going to take care of each other. Fiadh’s medicine isn’t working because she’s seeing things that don’t make sense. She doesn’t realize that the hunt is after her to take her pain and her soul. Can she survive? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book. Love Fiadh and the hunt and there dynamic. Great supporting characters. This is a short, scary, and sexy book. Great for Halloween.
I loved every second of this short story, the way the author pulls you in by your heartstrings. She really connects you with the FMC right away. Then she sends your heart racing at the very first encounter and it never stops. 62 pages of absolutely delicious smut. I want another story from these two!
Man M bonnet always wins in my book! Anything she writes I devoure ,and it's never less then 5 stars!!! And delectable souls is just that 5 stars! You won't be sorry you picked it up!!!
"For the lovers of all things dark and macabre, who want to find out what goes bump in the night. For the readers who always find themselves thirsting after the monstrous villains…who yearn for the Big Bad instead of the hero. This is for you."
Thank you M. Bonnet, this was the dark romance horror novella I did not know I needed. It was absolutely amazing. I LOVE Irish folklore, (yes I’m Irish, LOL), and know quite a bit. So reading this was like having a myth come to life. Fiadh is a young widow, her husband was killed in a tragic accident six months earlier. Her grief has taken over her entire life. As a way of getting away from all the memories of her dead husband and they life they had and she lost, she’s moving back home to her Granda’s house. He lives at the edge of the Donegal Woods. But the Sluagh, The Hunt waits for her in the dark woods, it can smell her heartbreak and despair, after all that is what it feeds on.
Bonnet is a master at world building, creating a place we can easily envision. The characters that inhabit it come to life on the pages, each of them quirky and part of our FMC’s life. But is it enough to hold her. The dark story that follows is in many ways similar to how people process intense traumatic grief. It is deeply felt emotions that make everyone around them uncomfortable. How Fiadh pretends to be fine, to make the people around her okay, is a testament to how society does not know how to deal with death, dying or mourning. This, perhaps, is why the Slaugh holds such a place in Irish folklore.
I truly enjoyed this book, reading through it so fast, that now I need to go back and read it slowly so I can savor it for incredible tale that it is. I only hope that Bonnet indeed does take us back to Ireland.
This is the first M Bonnet book I have read and it was a a nice surprise.
It’s a dark paranormal novella. It has a few triggers so maybe check them first. If you’re not bothered by much and like the paranormal side of romance then I can recommend giving this one a go.
The FMC, Fiadh is only young and lost her husband to a tragic accident and she’s left struggling feeling her life falling apart. It’s truly heartbreaking to read her pain and see her falling apart a little more every line.
The Hunt (Slaugh) is not human, not monster, he’s something else entirely and everything is afraid of him. He’s got one purpose and that is to feed on the souls of the heartbroken.
If you’re looking for something dark that you can read quickly this is worth checking out. . . . Fiadh is packing up her home and returning to her grandfather’s home. She can’t stay in the place where all the memories of her husband are. Losing him so suddenly has broken her and she has never quite recovered. She’s not coping and doesn’t know how to move on. ‘Every day without him rips my heart into smaller shreds and guts my soul. Without Daire, I’ll never be complete. He was my heart… my soul… my everything since the day I met him. We’ll never be together again.’
The Hunt can sense something and it’s something he really wants. It’s like nothing before and he’s going to enjoy taking it for himself. “Pray to whatever God you think is listening. Call me whatever you want. But know that eventually, your soul is mine. Your fear, despair, and broken heart are mine. You are mine.”
Fiadh’s grandfather warns her of what can be lurking in the forest and to stay safe but it isn’t long before Fiadh is lured into the dark and all the things she thought were stories turn out to be real.
Wow just fecking wow!! I was sucked into this story so quick I couldn’t breath. I was drowning with Fiadh, hoping with her and fearing just as much but what I wasn’t expecting was to feel the relief when she finally got what she needed. For all her pain, hopelessness and despair to be gone and just be free. I’ve been a huge M. Bonnet fan from the start and have admired how well she writes these characters that you become one with them. The Hunt was the dark depraved villian us dark reading girlies crave. While the world sees the FMC as damaged they see her as beautiful and exquisite to save her and feck the world. This was short but mind blowing… I wish I could read it again for the first time. PS did ya see my use of the word feck? 😉 I can’t get enough of it!
This book is not along the lines of M's normal books in the sense that the HEA is not your typical white picket fence, 2.5 kids running around HEA. This is a darker HEA, and while it was darker, it was refreshing in a way.. It was a HEA that fit them.
I was worried that the trigger warnings were going to be much worse within the book, so I was very apprehensive to pick it up. It was a short hour read, and I quite enjoyed it actually. The depair, hopelessness and loneliness that Fiadh was going through sat with me on another level. My heart bled for her; the relief I got when she got what she needed from The Hunt was reassuring, she would be okay.
I truly enjoyed this book and was lucky to receive an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
I enjoyed this story. It was darker than the other M. Bonnet books I have read. However, I liked the paranormal aspect that coincided with the Irish folklore. The way M also incorporated her other series (Dangerous Lovers, which I've read) into the story was fantastic. Cheeky, but fantastic! I enjoyed the reference to it! The ending will not be what most people expect, it was different. It was an unconventional/dark happily ever after, which I thought was quite a fresh approach. Instead of having a normal happily ever after, you got something more original. I'd recommend this book. Just remember to check TW
Short, lots of spooky/creepy imagery, smutty and definitely a non-traditional HEA, which is what had my curiosity piqued going into this book. I wish we had delved into more horror aspects, as I think the book would have been improved if we had done a bit more going back and forth into the FMC's mind, particularly during the climactic ending. The opening scene in the car had me hopeful--I wanted to really believe how scared she was through the rest of the book, and definitely for that finale.
Still good, though - especially if you just want something quick and vibey.
My favorite quotes.. 1. you’ll remember how you got ruined in the same spot you read fairytales in as a child.” 2. “I thought you’d be my scared, broken little girl, but it turns out you’re my greedy little woodland wh0re. You’re already desperate for more and we just finished.”
This book had me screaming, i finished in one setting and will be rec it to literally everyone. Ughhhh its DARK, its DELICIOUS, its DIABOLICAL, its exactly what i needed to get outa my slump.
M. Bonnet's Delectable Soul is a short and easy read. Even though it is really different from the books I usually read, I still enjoyed it. We got a reference to the Dangerous Lovers series, which I loved, in addition to this book's uniqueness and originality, which kept me intrigued.
I strongly advise reading the trigger warnings and themes before starting this book if your interest is piquing. It's dark, but not your typical dark, and it may just hit a bit too close to home for some—you've been forewarned.
Delectable Soul is available on Amazon and KU now!
Delectable Soul is a novella length paranormal romance retelling of the Slaugh from Irish folklore.
Heavily burdened with grief, our heroine returns to her Granda’s home in the woods. Despite his warnings to guard against the supernatural creatures that roam the woods, she falls victim to a Slaugh that feeds on depression and fear.
The Hunt has never tasted such delicious fear and despair and decides to keep her - forever.
This book was a good read but very much different to what M Bonnet usually writes. It threw me for a minute till I really got into the book.
This is a darker read from this author. I lived the aparnormal aspect of the book and the ending is not what we normally see from this author as it is more of a darker happily ever after. Still a good read though especially if you like darker reads, then this is the book for you.
This is such a great quick Irish folklore that left me wanting more. Super hot, very dark, very delicious and super steamy! This is a great fall/Halloween read and brings you right to the perfect spot of darkness. The lore of the Sluagh, hunting the broken, melancholy, and sick souls is riveting, and this twist makes it darker and deeper and gives it just the perfect ending to go with it.
What an interesting book this was! Sadness leads us to many things, but the victim of THE HUNT, isn't always one of them. One young woman loses the one she loves, but what will she find on the other side? Read and find out.
Fast read for those that love a get to the meat and finish by evening. We see a beloved author mentioned along with a book of hers :) I love when authors go outside the 'box' and give us something new and creative.
“Delectable Soul” by M. Bonnet was a really good dark horror erotica novella that featured a tragically widowed young woman named Fiadh and a demon known as The Hunt, a Sluagh who is determined to possess her soul. I enjoyed this read because even though it was on the shorter side, it was still really well written and didn’t feel rushed at all. I liked that the ending wasn’t the traditional happily ever after, and I’d recommend if you love dark/horror romance and don’t have a lot of triggers.
I love M. Bonnet's writing and this short novella is no exception. It was a quick read, something that would be good to squeeze in between what you just finished and the next series you're on the search for. Don't expect a typical happily ever after ending for this one though. It was actually a pretty sad one, an escape from heartache really, but I enjoyed it a lot and loved the Irish folklore. I don't think I've read many books focusing on that specifically, but now I want to hunt some down.
You’ve done it again, I love love reading your things . You always throw your personality in the books and it makes it so good. I was all excited for this book bc of the type it is. You had my emotions coming out, I was feeling so sad and upset for Fiadh , I was praying things would turn around for her she had hard times . I’m so glad things turned around . She brought out the dark we always love to see with Hunt that’s for sure . I loved this book 🖤🖤🖤🔥🔥🔥🔥
The scene setting and descriptions within this book are really good and the first 50% of the book was amazing and really set the scene, however the second half of the book I felt was a bit disappointing. I was hoping that there would be a bit more to it than that, but it was still a good read and the book was easy to follow and understand. I would look into this authors books again to see what they are like and generally, the first 50% of this book was written quite well.
This story, what a read. This book moves along at a pace that makes for an easy and enjoyable read. It has characters that you will find yourself loving no matter what they have to do and even if you hate them you still find your self loving them. This book is a must read that has to be on your TBR list, no doubt about it.
I really, really enjoyed this. For a short story that was less then 100 pages I was hooked on it. From Fiadh's tragic and heartbreaking story to the folklore of the Sluagh and other creatures of the woods. Then the creature's need to consume and own Fiadh in every deliciously feral way made the spice so satisfying and the ending perfect.
This delicious novella is a perfect read to get you in a Halloween mood. I loved the Irish setting, with warnings of the Slaugh at night. Fiadh is so perfectly broken, filled with grief and despair, her finding solace in her Granda's presence is lovely, but its what lurks in the dark which really speaks to me. Loved it
Delectable Soul, by M Bonnet @m.bonnetauthor. First, I am a fan of M Bonnet & this book was no different! Please read the trigger warnings!
This was a trippy novella about Fiadh (Fi-AH) & Hunter/Sluagh (SlOW)! Tropes: Paranormal, MF, Irish Demon that feeds off fear, despair, etc, Young Widow, & a new meaning to HEA!
