Las Vegas is the last place Private Investigator Kenna Banbury wants to go. After what happened when she visited the city with her dad, she’s determined to keep her head down and solve this case. Kenna has no home, no dog, and no way to figure out who murdered a Russian diplomat fifteen years ago. But since when has that ever stopped her?
One case could lead her to the girl she’s been looking for.
When the truth proves far darker than Kenna expected, she realizes it’s up to her to safeguard Maizie’s life. With an FBI Special Assignment team led by the director himself, a mob connected local criminal, and a group of mystery solving hobbyists in the mix, figuring out who hasn’t been compromised might be simpler than connecting each person back to an untouchable CEO. The only honorable FBI agent she knows seems to want to help her. If she can keep trusting Jax from leading to…more…then she might solve this case before her heart becomes the latest victim.
What happens in Vegas needs Kenna’s brand of Justice.

This book is incredible! Kenna is investigating a cold case of a Russian diplomat from fifteen years ago. Determined to find the truth and killer, she discovers something way more terrifying. She doesn't know who she can trust in the FBI, but she is determined to find justice and protect the girls life, even if it means with her own life.
Get ready for another adventure with Kenna as she heads to Las Vegas. This was an thrilling read with Kenna investigating the murder of a Russian diplomat that happened 15 years ago. In addition to this cold case, she has 2 missing teens to track down and discovers that the cases she's working on may be connected together. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Jax and Kenna as they work together to figure out whom they can trust. I enjoyed the flashbacks of Kenna and her dad as the past ties into the present, the various secondary characters, and the plot line which included enough action and suspense. I received a complimentary copy of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The saga continues in this installment, and things escalate quickly. The body count rises, the “mastermind” is in danger for the first time, and personal relationships are tested.
The action is elevated in this story, which slows character development. It should herald an over-the-top climax, but I found even that was rushed.
If not for Jax (my favorite character), a few others who are safely tucked away for now, and some lingering questions, I’d be tempted to consider this a good place to walk away. But because of these things, I will read on.
This is probably best suited for fans of strong yet damaged female leads. And readers will want to start at the beginning of the series. While the novels complete a plot in each installment, the over-arching story builds from book one.
Another message on the Utah True Crime blog. "If you have this, then I'm dead." Cold case 20 years ago, a Russian diplomat. Is the message from a SLC FBI lab tech who recently died? Or, was it Maizie, the girl Kenna is trying to find and save? This book has a lot of different twists and turns leaving one to wonder if Kenna can even focus her time on finding the girl, or if she will be sucked into another FBI investigation. How many people does she have to see die before finding Maize and saving her and finding the head of the organization who does terrible things to women and children? I really enjoyed this book!
It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading the book! I guess the only negative about this series is there's too much killing in them. I know that most people like to see the bad guys get what's coming to them but still I'd rather the bad guys be seen to a maximum security prison to spend the rest of their lives. So for the most part I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series and can't wait to read the next one. I'm hoping that before this series ends that Kenna will seek out a personal relationship with the Lord! God bless you Lisa Phillips.
This is the 4th in the series about PI Kenna Banbury. She is recovering from her recent injuries and Cabot is recuperating, but Kenna is back on the case. She is still trying to find the missing. Maizie is still out there and Kenna knows that she has been "feeding" her information and she finds herselt in Las Vegas trying to solve the cold murder case of a Russian diplomat.
But will this case bring her closer to her Dad and the secrets he kept from her. She is still with Jaz and trusts him. Will this case be her downfall or will she be able to unleash the secrets of who the killer is behind the church that was bombed that day?
When Kenna & Jax become a team of two against a whole array of dirty FBI agents and the head of the snake, you'd think it was all over but the shouting. But there's at least two more books coming so we know Kenna has more work to do. And Jax is moving in on her heart. Can she do her job while also caring about Jax's safety as well as the rescued Maisie? More drama awaits. One inconsistency...in the first book I thought sure I read that Kenna was 5'10", but in this book (4) she has shrunk to 5'4". I'll have to reread book 1 to make sure.
Determination and priorities will help you with outstanding results!
Outstanding read. Just can't believe how mind grabbing Kenna has got to me. I just have been involved in some of the best mysteries I have had the pleasure to read on my Kindle Fire. Characters are mind blowing fitting into the game. Always a "what's gonna happen next." But Kenna has done a fabulous job helping a young lady victimized by a very ruthless crime figure. But, she gets it right again. On to the next book.
I love that we get to see more of the relationship between Jax and Kenna in this book. Kenna is in Las Vegas where she has been sent to work on a cold case involving the death of a Russian diplomat from 15 years ago. While there she is searching for two missing teens and uncovering more of her father's past. Another action packed, edge of your seat, inspirational story in the Brand of Justice series.
I’ve read every one of Lisa Phillips’ novels and enjoyed them all. Each one gets better but this series is by far the best. The intricate plot lines and complex, believable characters pulled me in from the first few pages of Book 1 and it just keeps getting better as you get to know Keely, Jax and the others while the plot twists and turns through each chapter and book. Can’t wait for the next one!
I've read each one of the books in this series, and they just keep getting better. I love how Lisa is developing Kenna as a person who is searching for answers Kenna us been severely traumatized, but in Over the Limit, she uses her trauma to reach out to help someone else who has been traumatized. The book had me wondering on every page how Kenna was going to pull everything together. I love this book and highly recommend it.
Another installment in the Brand of Justice series that kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down! Kenna finds her way to Vegas to solve a cold case and discovers Jax there on special assignment with the FBI. The more each one investigaes their respective cases, the more it looks like it's all related. I love that because we get to see more of Kenna and Jax working together. Hope to see more of that in the future. Can't wait to read more in this series.
This book is number 5 in the brand of justice series. In this one Kenna us going after Michael Rushman who has many under his control and uses them to abuse many others. She continues in her search for Maizie, who has been sending her clues. The story takes many twists and turns, she learns more about her father as well. Jax shows up and the connection between them grows. What is most important to her is to get true freedom for Maizie.
Lots of loose ends are tied up in Over the Limit, book 4 in the Brand of Justice series. Sometimes plots are interesting but so convoluted I end up not having any idea what happened. Not so with this book. The plot line is expertly developed, as are the characters. Kenna doesn’t just get from point A to point B. She undergoes intense personal growth. I’m looking forward to book 5!
I truly love these books and this one most of all…so far. Lisa Phillips quickly became a favorite and I’ve never read a book of hers that I didn’t like. But there’s a different feel to these books that gives these stories a whole new vibe. I highly recommend reading them all!
Such a great book. I have been binge reading this series so that when the 5th book came out i would be ready for that adventure. As always Lisa has written another great story. She keeps the twists and turns coming at a rapid pace. If you are looking for a great author to read I would highly recommend anything by Lisa Phillips.
As Kenna and Jax continue their quest to find the leader of a corrupt and evil organization she is confronted with people from her past who knew her dad. This was book 4. I strongly suggest read these books in order. I had a hard time putting this down for even short periods of time. I look forward to book 5!
A truly exciting read. There were so many twists and turns Kenna had no idea whom to trust. Thank God, Jax was there for her. An exciting finish to the end and who knows what in the future. Looking forward to her next adventure with her friends always available to keep her steady.
Great read. Took me a few chapters to get into it, but I loved the book....very intense moments in it. Sometimes I don't like Kenna much...especially when it comes to Jax, but Phillips has created a very complex character in her. I am really enjoying this series.
The title could refer to evil being over the limit.; or that it was past time to stop evil. The story is exciting and heart breaking. Not skimping on the violence there is some humor. Enjoyable read!
Oh my, Kenna and what she has been through broke my heart and that’s just the first of the book. You have to read this book now. Can’t wait for the next one. No I didn’t forget about Jax. You are going to need to keep up with all he does to keep Kenna alive.
Excellent read! Lisa Phillips really knows how to create and bend storylines while building incredibly in-depth characters. I'm looking forward to the next in the series!
This series is so good! The action rolls headlong into Las Vegas as Kenna continues to pursue the criminal organization she began taking apart in book 2. Each book is a standalone, but the relationships between recurring characters grow from book to book.
A fantastic read. There's plenty of action, tense, emotionally filled moments by a prolific author. The bad characters, as well as the ones who stand for justice his are strong people. This is best read in the series, but good even if read alone.
Each book in this series just gets better and better! Kenna, with all of her wounds from the past, has one of the most beautiful hearts ever. What a wonderful story of betrayal and pain turning into healing and redemption. I can't wait for Book 5!
I’ve read the first 4 books in one week. We saw a lot of progress in this book, but why do I think we still have more. I guess I will have to read on. Jax in his own right is as complicated as Kenna. Dear Lord the destruction of lives.
Kenna is in the thick of things, as usual. A well written story, a book you cannot put down! Another jerk bit the dust, just where he should be. A lot of danger to process, but you will like sorting it out.
The Kenna Banbury saga continues and as always, it's a wild ride! Still hunting those who are behind the death and destruction that has spread across numerous states, Kenna presses on in a fight for truth and justice. Can she find Mazie before it's too late?
This series of stories are so well done. This is another one that has so much action and keeps moving at a fast pace. Kenna finds her path again intersecting with the FBI and Jax and taking on more than one person can handle.
Lisa Phillips is an excellent storyteller! This story just keeps getting g more intriguing! I can’t wait to read the next in this series! You definitely will want to read this series!
