They’ve got one night for a second chance at love…
When chef Ben ‘Kenobi’ Walker gets the call to help save a VIP dinner at Foxbrooke Manor, he doesn’t expect to run into old flame Leia Perry. She's all grown up and even more attractive than when they were teenagers – but she hasn't forgotten what happened ten years ago, and she definitely hasn’t forgiven him.
Hard-working Leia may be named after a princess, but she's still waiting for her prince. Ben was her brother’s best friend, her first kiss and her first love. But he was also a liar – their kiss was nothing but a bet.
Now forced to work together under pressure, sparks fly. Will one night give Ben the second chance he needs to prove himself and win back Leia’s heart? Or will fate strike back, and their love be lost in a galaxy far, far away?
One Night in Foxbrooke is a short and sizzling second-chance romantic comedy with no cheating, no cliffhanger and a guaranteed happy-ever-after that’s out of this world!
Evie Alexander is a multi-award-winning author of sexy romantic comedies, blending snort-laugh humor and panty-melting chemistry into unputdownable stories that will steal your heart.
When she’s not dreaming up swoony heroes and relatable heroines, Evie can be found in the beautiful West Country of the UK, where she lives with her ridiculously patient husband, miracle daughter, and two dogs who think they run the show.
If you want to find her online, here’s where to go!
A quick read, but it was decent. Lots of Star Wars references. So if you're into that or cooking, you might enjoy it more. I enjoyed Ben but the FMC wasn't my favorite. I don't know why but she irked me. The ending was decent.
If you hate Star Wars, you probably won't like this book 😂 (because there are a ton of references).
It was very short, so giving more than 3 stars is hard. I was very impressed by how the author described their first kiss (in years) together and the following sex scene (Ben fingered Leia and made her cum). I wish it was longer so we could get that great sex scene I know the author can write & more everything.
When Leia reacted too quickly at the climax, she came off as impulsive & immature to me, and I don't like that in people.
Cute introduction to the upcoming series. Too many Star Wars references which were becoming annoying. Too little character development/backstory. Felt a bit rushed.

✅ Editorial reviews ✅ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “This has all of Evie's unique humour and hot storytelling wrapped up in a nerdy package.
Self-confessed nerds, now is your time to rise up and join the romance world!
My only complaint, it was a novella. I'd gladly have had a full length novel about these characters, I just loved them! I cant wait for more adventures in Foxbrooke and hope we see more of Ben and Leia in these!
Proof that Evie's a master of her craft, she's made me fall in love with a series other than Kinloch!” Bianca Duthrie
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is the prequel to the Foxbrooke series. And if this book is any indication of what we have to look forward to in the series we’re in for such a treat! I was completely immersed in the story and fell in love with Ben and Leia right away. They unexpectedly have to work together and old feelings are reignited! All of the Star Wars references are so cute and add such a comedic element to the story!
Evie delivers another feel good story that’s rom com perfection! It’s so spicy and you can feel the heat coming off the pages!! I wish I could tell you about my favorite scene, but I don’t want to spoil anything. I loved their story, and I can’t wait to meet more of the characters in the series!“” Lindzanne Bookworm
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I am one with the Force and the Force is with me!
I absolutely loved this novella to open up the Foxbrooke series! Novellas are tough, you need to get all of the backstory, emotions, story ARC, etc. into a smaller package. They don't always work, sometimes they feel forced. One Night in Foxbrooke WORKS!!!!
Things I am here for: Star Wars references Leia is a strong executive chef! Ben is fine taking orders from Leia! Rediscovering each other in the dark - steamy First love that gets stronger after time apart and growth
I absolutely adored the painting scene!” Steph Beaudoin
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “This was a very short, but absolutely delightful prequel to Evie Alexander’s upcoming Foxbrooke series, which has definitely whet my appetite for the books to come. Told from the dual POV of Leia and Ben, we are introduced to the town of Foxbrooke and a number of its interesting residents, but most importantly Leia and Ben themselves, who have plenty of history, chemistry, heart and charm. Evie’s talent for writing witty banter excels under a Star Wars theme, and the lovely HEA was moving and sweet. It is absolutely amazing that Evie can write such a fully formed wonderful story within 4 chapters and an epilogue, though I would have loved even more from these two gorgeous characters.” Sarah Oliver
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “This novella is a darling amuse bouche for the main course that is soon to be the Foxbrooke series. As fans of Downton Abbey will attest, interesting things tend to happen in the kitchen of the manor! Chefs Leia and Ben are called upon to team up and help pull off a lavish birthday dinner party. But the two have a romantic history that ended in broken hearts and a deep mistrust that could foil the plan. Even for a shorter read, I was engaged in the characters' second chance romance and the outcome of the dinner party. The "hook" of the story is the surprising Star Wars thread throughout - completely unexpected, totally creative. I thought it was a hoot (although I wish I’d saved it to read on Star Wars Day, May the Fourth)!” Barbara Kellyn
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “What a force of a novella! I absolutely adored everything about this book. It was such a sweet and fun read with so many epic Star Wars quotes and references. Leia and Ben are so cute together and I hope we get to read more about them in the future. Evie packed lots of laughs and some steam into this novella and I loved every second. This was the perfect intro into the new Foxbrooke series and I can’t wait to read them all.” Kirsten Lee

At only 50 pages, it's a good palate cleaner (pun intended). I finished it in one sitting. I'm looking forward to reading more books in the Foxbrooke series.
I love the bright, magical, shiny, and exciting cover. The blurb is exciting and promising. However, disclosing that it's a HEA defeats the purpose of the question posed to the readers immediately before that paragraph.
The food descriptions make it evident that the author is either a foodie or a cook. The Star Wars references went over my head as I've never heard of that series, but I'm sure its fans will find them appealing. The writing is good. My favourite scene was Ben caressing Leia's arms.

This could have been a full novel and it would have left me wanting more!
The chemistry between Leia and Ben leapt from the page and I’d love to see more of them, hopefully they’ll appear again in the Foxbrooke series.
This was a fast, fun read with a short steamy scene. There are lots of Star Wars references but don’t let that put you off if it’s not your thing, I don’t think it will take away from your enjoyment of the story.
I received an ARC from the author (because I’m on her ARC team and I’m always chomping at the bit to read anything she writes) but these opinions are my own.
Talk about the perfect set up to a new series. Evie's managed to capture her wonderful sense of humour, heart & spice in this short introduction to Foxbrooke.
I imagine it helped that I have a Star Wars mad household so all the references made me grin. The only problem with One Night in Foxbrooke is that I want more from Leia & Ben, but I hope they'll pop up in the new series.
One Night In Foxbrooke is a short novella, to give you a little taste of the manor and all the characters in Evie Alexander’s new “Foxbrooke” series.
When chef Leia goes to the manor to help her mother with an important dinner at the residence, she doesn’t know that she’ll get to see her brother’s best friend, and childhood crush, again.
Ben Kenobi Walker’s been friends with Luke, Leia’s brother, for years and he has been in love with Leia for just as long. Unfortunately, it seems that Ben was a pretty silly teenager back then and Leia’s got a lot of mixed feelings when it comes to him…
Evie Alexander has a way of creating characters that you immediately care about, making them so lovable that I’m almost sad about how short this novella was, I could have read a whole 500 pages book about Leia and Ben and not been bored once! I laughed - especially at Ben’s dedication to get Star Wars quotes out of Leia - and I hoped for them to get their happily ever after as soon as they had their first conversation.
It’s also worth mentioning that, even if it’s a pretty short read, it’s written so well that you still get some spice and all the feels. *chef’s kiss*
And as a bonus, and as you probably can tell already, this short romance is filled with references to Star Wars, which basically is my kryptonite.
I think this novella does a good job at setting the mood for the upcoming series. I’m so excited to read LOVE AD LIB and get to know more about Henry, his siblings and his parents!

For how short this one was, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it. I think it helped that it was friends to enemies to lovers, so you knew these characters already had a long and established relationship and this was just a glimpse of how it all came together. Now, on to the best part: everything Star Wars. Based on the character names, I knew I was going to get some references (that is the whole reason I decided to read this book). However, I was unprepared for just how much was direct quotations or sly references to everything Star Wars. I just love the idea that the parents were such big fans that they named their twins Luke and Leia and then raised them to be able to quote any and all Star Wars movies at the drop of a hat. This is the kind of parent I would be if I had kids. May it be a bit much for some people? Yes. Is it perfect for fans of both romance novels and the Star Wars franchise? Absolutely. The biggest downside for me is that it’s not longer.

The plot: Ben and Leia meet unexpectedly after what happened between them 10 years ago. Leia is suspicious of Ben, and he tries to convince her otherwise.
This is a short romantic story about 2 people who love each other, but one of them is afraid of showing it. Since it is not lengthy, it was kind of difficult to picture the characters in detail. However, despite this, I enjoyed reading it.
It is well-written, funny, and very romantic. I liked that Ben did not give up easily and that Leia was open to listening to him. Their first encounter was not friendly but humorous. Their banter during working together was interesting to follow to see where it would lead them.
Overall, although short - entertaining, funny, and interesting. I definitely would like to read the other books by the author. If you enjoy short, amusing, and passionate stories, give this book a try for sure.
A lovely little novella to ease us into the Foxbrooke series.
The story centres round Ben and Leia who are reunited after years apart and Leia still feels the pain Ben caused her. It has a Star Wars theme, as in their younger years, they were nicknamed Princess and Kenobi. Star Wars quotes and references were made throughout the book, which I felt gave it an unusual twist.
As usual, we had the author's steamy scenes, although being a novella these were limited.
As an introduction to the Foxbrooke series I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to reading the first book when it comes out especially if it's as good as the Kinloch series (which I'm sure it will be)!
Thank you to the author and Book Sirens for my ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
There was no subtly in this novella. While it was a quick read to reach my Goodreads goal for 2024… it was a waste of time. The Star Wars references were way too much. Again- novellas move quickly, but I’m not a fan of the “I’ve been in love with you since I was fourteen” but then the MMC hightails it across the world for a decade and on the DAY he gets back he bangs her and tell her that he loves her. I was expecting this big betrayal from him that has her hating him, but it was just petty teenage boy teasing and then she just forgets in the minute she lays her hands on him. No plot, not character development, and enough with the Star Wars!
This was a stuff your kindle day book so I had low expectations, but would not recommend.
This is a cute and funny little novella. I wanted more to the story, so I guess I will be going down the rabbit hole on the series when it comes out! 😂 this was filled with Star Wars references and a bit of steam, don’t be fooled by its short length! Brother’s best friend, enemies to lover tropes are some of my favorites, so it should be no surprise that I liked this one!
Leia goes to help her mom with a catering job and finds the man she hates the most there. The man who tortured her when she was little, her twin brother’s best friend. He’s been away in Australia for a decade and now he’s back. The blowtorch for the crème brûlée isn’t the only flame sparking in the kitchen.
Okay wow! I love star wars I should start off with that, but I also love Evie and her work so this book to me?!? Chefs kiss it was fantastic I loved it more than words could say. The banter the cuteness the Star Wars references? 10/10
This was such a fun introduction into the series I just really loved it, I love how we meet characters that just feel like home, it was one of those prequels which just sets the series up for greatness!
I love leia, and Ben together so cute! I also just think it was such a wholesome story with some good times 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️if you know what I mean! I couldn’t recommend this more go read now!!!

Happily received an ARC from BookSirens This is an exciting new series from Evie Alexander, this novella introduces us to Foxbrooke Manor, Ben Walker had it all in Oz, a great career, family, friends, but the one missing piece was back home, Leia, twin sister to his best friend growing up. Ben decided to go home and try to win her back.
I absolutely loved the Kinloch series, so I know the Foxbrooke Manor series will be a laugh-out-loud, quick banter, fun to read series!
got this book during the famous “stuff your kindle day” and thought it was a cheesy, sweet romance! however, if you aren’t a fan of star wars you may get annoyed with the fact that the characters heavily take from the show. while this was a short book to get someone hooked into the author and the series, i almost felt the book was less a book and more a short story.
I flew through this audiobook; it was quite a cute, quick, and easy one to listen to.
I was here for all the Star Wars references, I thought they were great. Despite only being 71 pages long, or just under an hour in the audiobook, I still cared about the characters, and they raised a smile on my face. I do hope we see more of them further into the series! I want more Star Wars!!
Talk about a steamy hot unexpected romance! I couldn’t put down. I enjoyed the characters and their emotions. Florence sounds like a beautiful place to fall in love! *I was given an advanced reader via BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This was a steamy hot romance and I loved everything this novella had to offer. The characters were great, and Florence sounds like it's a beautiful place. And all those Star Wars references, OMG I loved it. I'm excited for more. Make sure you check this out. It is really cute.
