R.M. Schultz is a #1 best-selling author of fantasy and science fiction.
After reading Tolkien, Ryan wrote his first 100,000-word fantasy novel as a freshman in high school. When he’s not saving animals, he continues reading and writing fantasy and science fiction, and has done so for over two decades. Ryan founded and heads the North Seattle Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers’ Group and has published over a dozen novels.
And more than anything, he wants to be knighted by George R.R. Martin.
The tides ebb and flow History, forgotten, returns to wreak its havoc upon the unwary and unprepared. And the consequences are actually on those who impose their will on others. Left-handers have scissors just for them, the mentally ill receive treatment & employment rather than automatic institutionalization, partnership violence is a crime, various countries have been freed from the yoke of Empire, women can vote, etc. May we learn from history of all kinds in order not to repeat mistakes of the past.
To defeat the enemy, one must first identify it. Then understand its strengths and weaknesses…as well as one’s own. Until that knowledge is had, best to keep researching so as not to take chances out of ignorance. Don’t be judgmental too quickly or it may come back and bite you – literally!
I’ve enjoyed previous books in this series and look forward to others. ‘Knights, Witches, and the Caravan’ (Fall 2023), ‘Knights, Witches, and the Dragon’ (Winter 2023), and ‘Knights, Witches, and the Last Murder’ (early 2024)

Calec becomes the hunted, and he will bleed. Will Calec survive ,is this the end? This is a unique series with lots of action ,Magic and a thriller all rolled into one .
I've got an ARC copy and freely offer my review. The story is very original, as always in this series, a bit less mysterious but certainly thrilling. Searching for clues about two different murderers, it shuffles the main story (which is complete in the book) with hints from the previous books increasing the whole story of the series. Running out of suspects, and of time, the final fight with the Horseman and the discovery of how all these mysteries are related begins to feel inevitable.
Murders by shapeshifter in a small town, locked room mystery. Calec and Serileen travel to Menataun, a small town menaced by a shambler. This small town, almost insignificant, lies at the edge of the kingdom. Virtually no one travels there. The murderer has to be one of the locals. Calec places his life danger to discover who that changeling murderer is.
I keep thinking that the book I just read was the best one in the series, and then a new book comes out that I think is even better than the one I just finished. Such is the case with Knights, Witches, and Those Who Walk in the Night. R.M. Schultz's latest book is a great read which I couldn't put down, and the ending was a complete surprise. Lots of interesting characters and plenty of action.
A great well-written story with plenty of action and mystery! Like all the others in the series this book features a fascinating set of characters that really help the world come to life. I recommend giving the whole series a read, but this book can be read on its own and still be enjoyable.
This was yet another amazing addition to the Calec of the Woods series. This book has quite the moral dilemma, keeping you on your toes on how Calec's going to handle it. Also, it's definitely one of his more eerie ones.
Another unique monster to hunt down! Schultz doesn't seem to run out of creative new terrors. I'm so glad to have picked up a book series with new ideas instead of regurgitating old myths and fables.
A thrilling mystery full of magic and moral dilemmas. Not sure in what way I would lean in such a situation. Read it all in one sitting. A fantastic, fast-paced fantasy adventure.
This epic story brings twists and turns you won't see coming, especially at the end. A tense and action-packed fantasy with a great mystery and smart story development.
