Catnip of Life by Sharla Lee is a collection of poems describing the wonders of nature. In each poem we find words of encouragement and wisdom. This book clearly shows a balance between our everyday lives and and the beauty of nature. These poems make you really think about how closely tied to nature our emotions are. Each poem somehow is able to be connected to our everyday lives.

I really enjoyed reading these poems. They gave reason for critical thinking and I truly loved applying each individual poem to the different aspects of my personal life. These poems all find a way to encourage you no matter what you happen to be dealing with in life. Reading these made me want to sit outside and enjoy all the little things nature gives us. One thing I really enjoyed was the quotes that were found in the beginning of the book and throughout. I found myself getting emotional while reading because several poems really touched my soul and naked me stop to think.

One of the poems I really liked is titled On Top Of The World. It really goes to show that everyone has different meanings of success. It could mean having all the money in the world or just having the happy family you’ve always dreamed of.

Another poem I liked titled Spirit of Laughter reminds us to find the good in everything even when all seems lost. There is always a reason to smile and this poem does an amazing job of telling us that.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating. I found this book to be exceptionally edited with no spelling or punctuation errors. The poems were written beautifully and show us so much emotion. While it took a minute to get through each individual poem, it was completely worth it. This book seemed to cover all four seasons and each month and gave meaning to each. I recommend this book to anyone who loves poetry or inspirational words.
