I didn't love this one as much as the first two of the series, but it was still enjoyable. I loved seeing more of Ellem Islands and to see Kaito and Clara from the prequel.

I also liked seeing where the overreaching story from the entire series is going, and VERY excited about the next book just based on the title and main characters.

The sequence of events in this book had me utterly confused. The plot was all over the place and I wasn’t sure what happened.

Ryu is a half human Elf heir to the throne. He despises humans because his father bonded with a human and decreased his life expectancy, and he’s always bullied for being a half elf. When a human girl saves him, he protects her from pirates and ends up transferring his human essence to her. Was that something half elves could do? Did that make him a full elf?

The next chapter continues years after this incident, but I could deduce this after almost half the story was over. I was very confused till then. The throne refuses him as the next ruler and he deduces that’s because he gave away his human essence. So, he goes back to the village and kidnaps her.

Now, he wants his human essence back. He doesn’t know how to take it back though, so he plans to keep her in the stables… Somehow a bond has been created between them which influences them. They can’t keep their hands off each other.

Many Elves are purists but Ryu’s father wants to live peacefully among humans as opposed to how they are living now, hidden from the world. This leads to a human princess getting invited to stay in their manor and find a way to peacefully coexist. But, she has a hidden agenda that nobody knows.

When Ryu’s bond with the human gets out, the council is very opposed to their union, they are opposed to Ryu becoming the heir. Their reasoning is that Ryu cannot perform his duties for the betterment of the Elves when he’s tied to a human……

My one question is though, their current ruler is Ryu’s father who’s bonded to a human and they attend the council​ meetings and their duties together. So why is everyone so opposed to Ryu doing the same?

The entire book was a jumble of plot points with too many characters who never did much and a drama which didn’t make any sense in the first place.
