★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 5/5 “Captured by the title, I thought I would take a sneak peek and read the first couple pages. 3+ish hours later…, no bathroom breaks or anything, because I couldn’t set it down, I finished ‘er (the story). The internal battle that was raging in that young lady was so phenomenally written, the life experiences so raw and yet so real, and the true cost on the tender souls so well described I was transfixed and didn’t want to spend another second with anything but reading every detail. The suburb accuracy with which you described her soul collapse and essential need for others to pull her through, along with the battle for her mind and God’s tender mercy in the hearts of others for her, was mesmerizing. It takes divine knowledge or first-hand experience to paint such a reality so well. I was so blown away, that even though I was done reading at 1:22am , I laid awake until 3am pondering it all, wrecked in all the good ways possible. I now have a shelf dedicated just for Ribbey books. I look forward to filling it. It’s all yours. ” ~BJ

Technically book 3 (but I read the prequel first), this is Leah's story. She suffers a terrible loss, but eventually overcomes and is able to decipher codes to help militia forces repel the chinese. Many typos and misspelling so far in each book, but I'm a proofreader; many people wouldn't even notice the errors. This book is five years later, and suddenly everybody has electronics but they still live in tents and apparently have no electricity. But they do have a shower house. I feel like parts have been left out, and the book was only about 145 pages, so it's a possibility. Still good reading.

I’ll admit, I was a little disappointed at first when I realized this book was from a different character’s perspective than the last book, but wow, it was just as moving. Again, amazing characters, amazing story, and amazing relationships. The heart, love, hope, and beauty in the midst of even despair was incredible. Beautiful story.

Amazing absolutely amazing.
This book was amazing. As I started reading it, it was hard to put down. It had all of my emotions going. I probably cried for over half the book, but it was so wonderfully written.
