A nuclear bomb is missing. The Russian Federation is on the verge of collapse. And a terrifying new organization threatens to upset world order.
All Jason Drake needs is a target.
Auston King's fifth Jason Drake novel is a tour de force, full of non-stop, globe-trotting action. Fan favorites Clyde Colt and Sierra White are back along with a villain, long thought dead. The action and suspense literally never stop.
The Assassin's Ultimatum is the fifth entry in what is one of the most full-throttle CIA assassin series to hit bookstores in decades. It was created from the ground up to fill the space between Jason Bourne and Mitch Rapp.
Auston King is an avid reader, who has consumed every Tom Clancy, Brad Thor, Lee Child, Vince Flynn and Robert Ludlum book he could get his hands on and he wants to share stories that entertain, provoke, and leave you wanting more.
Auston King is the author name for an ex-intelligence officer who prefers to keep his anonymity about him. He's an avid reader, who has consumed every Tom Clancy, Brad Thor, Vince Flynn and Robert Ludlum book he could get his hands on and he wants to share stories that entertain, provoke, and leave you wanting more.
Still has consistency issues. At the end of one chapter, he hears the "click of the gun" and stops to turn around. Next chapter few pages in, gun is holstered. Characters remain not fully developed. Remains verbose at times to get word counts in to stretch the series "takes off his goggles, wipes the steam off and then puts them back on." Adds nothing to the story or the situation. Lazy writing. Should've spent words to develop Characters more. Sunk cost now. Will continue w next book since easy to read in a few hours and story line remains decent. Wouldn't start the series if looking for eloquent prose or carefully constructed deep characters that you can love or hate. Sort of Meh all the way
A solid 3.5 but no halfsies are available! Jason is sent to "watch" and take pics of an arms deal- easy-peasy but of course everything goes wrong. His "driver" crashes enroute to him, the camera is damaged making Jason get closer to the deal than he'd like. Then he's spotted leaving. The buyers decide to shoot down the leaving plane in order to keep it quiet. Jason then gets to the crash first and finds one very injured man who tells him Chaos Magnum.
This info he brings back to Taggert (old CIA boss) which leads to a crew of Russians that steal a nuke and so on. Jason is sent on the trail and it leads to a lot of action.
So the last book in the series felt very rushed, with zero polish whatsoever. Where as This books release was pushed back I think 6 months from its original date and it was time VERY WELL SPENT. This book showed Kings potential as an author, and I’m very much looking forward to the next one in the series. This book is easily his best work yet, and he should be proud. You should read it.
When Sierra White fell for Jason Drake they were like Titans… She was a strong CIA Officer and he ex CIA Assassin. When the head of Chaos Magnus met Sophia and saved her from her pitiful life as a high priced prostitute they were to become another pair of Titans… There is a chess match going on that will determine which side ends up as the World’s greatest Nation. The intrigue is thick. The skill sets of those involved are great and this was a very good read!
In the world of espionage, you never know who is friend or foe. Once you're certain, continuous validation is required because anything can change at anytime.
Jason lives to fight another day but when is he going to see his daughter?
Of course you have already read the previous books. Jason Drake is right up there with Mitch, Reacher, and all the rest. No spoilers here. This is action packed, answers some questions, and further develops characters and relationships. Just read it!
Another day in the office for Jason. with some threads and characters coming from previous books, it's finally setting the framework for a Global plot to deal with in the next books
