Depicts South Africa through the eyes of a Boerejood, a half-Afrikaans, half-Jewish writer who struggles with issues of race and identity, as does his nation.
This was quite an unusual read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have known a few Afrikaans people who were from Jewish descent, but I never regarded them as 'Boerejode'.
This book gave the history of a minority Afrikaans-group in South Africa, which may sound strange but that is South Africa. Many unusual views concerning unusual people. It was interesting to read our history from that perspective.
A must read for those who are interested in the Jewish people.
