Great small town, second chance romance that will kick you in all the feels. Second Chance with the Rancher is the story of Mieka, the middle Young sister, and her brother-in-law, Nate. Whitley always writes books with strong female protagonists and Second Chance with the Rancher is certainly no exception. Mieka is super stubborn and definitely knows her own mind and she is convinced that she will never be happy living the rancher life, despite the feelings for Nate that she cannot seem to shake. Likewise, Nate is just as convinced that she would be happy, if she'd just give it a chance. What results is a bunch of pretty angsty push and pull between the two of them that has them both not acting their best. Overall, I enjoyed the story, but I did find Mieka somewhat abrasive and I had an equally hard time with some of the things Nate did. There was definitely growth for both of them, but I just didn't enjoy it as much as the other stories in the series.

Parmi les auteures anglosaxonnes que je suis, il y a Whitley Cox que j'apprécie particulièrement et sa dernière série "The Young Sisters" qui dépend de la précédente "The Harty Boys" puisque nous avions fait connaissance de la soeur de notre héroïne, Rayma, dans le dernier tome. Cette fois, c'est au tour de la danseuse "Mieka" d'avoir son roman : cette dernière avait rencontré et couché avec le frère du mari de sa soeur (l'héroïne du tome 2, Triss), Nate, lors de leur mariage alors qu'ils étaient ivres. Bien évidemment, chacun avait repris sa vie (avec quelques surprises au milieu) mais lorsque la jeune femme est renvoyée de son poste de danseuse sur un bateau de croisière, parce qu'elle s'est cassé le bras et que soi-disant elle est trop vieille pour danser, elle se réfugie dans le ranche de sa soeur et son beau-frère où Nate, bien sûr, travaille aussi. L'alchimie entre eux est toujours là et si la jeune femme semble penser qu'elle n'est là que le temps qu'elle rebondisse, lui ne l'entend pas ainsi et compte bien lui faire comprendre qu'elle pourrait trouver le bonheur auprès de lui dans le ranch. Mais la jeune femme rêve d'une autre vie plus sociale... Or, ces quelques semaines en compagnie de sa soeur, son beau-frère et donc de cet homme qui lui plait, pourraient bien remettre ses projets et idées en question. Evidemment, l'on apprend ce que deviennent les héros des tomes passés et on a hâte de lire le prochain. Comme toujours, il y a des personnages secondaires intéressants qui mériteraient leurs histoires en raison de leur passé dans l'armée et de la manière dont ils doivent se reconstruire et trouver un bonheur mérité.

Enfin, je ne peux que féliciter Whitley Cox d'oser aborder le thème de l'avortement dans son pays qui a été remis en question aux USA et qui dépend du bon vouloir des gouverneurs et des états. Evidemment la Française que je suis a du mal à comprendre cela au XXième siècle et ce retour terrible en arrière et cette atteinte aux droits et corps des femmes. Bravo à elle de tenter de pousser ses concitoyennes à réagir et à se battre!

Bref, si vous ne connaissez pas cette auteure, foncez! Comme toujours, la romance est réussie : c'est une seconde chance et un slow burn et je n'ai qu'une chose à dire : vivement le prochain!

Nate had one night and then she was gone. Now with her being back he is determined to make her believe that she belongs with him, and the ranch life is not as bad as she makes it out to be. Can he get her to believe in the life she could have or will she be trying to run out and get her old life back at the first chance?

⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved loved loved the concept of this book! Meika a professional dancer breaks her arm and loses her contract because of her age forcing her to stay with her sister Triss, her husband Asher, and his brother Nate. Nate the ex Navy Seal turned rancher has not been able to stop thinking about Meika since their wild drunken hookup at Triss and Asher’s wedding. Meika attempts to put her life back together and figure out her next moves while Nate tries to convince her that ranch life is her future. This was a steamy country romance but at times I found it unnecessarily crass and abrasive. I found Meika’s character immature for a 34 year old woman and I found Triss berating Nate off putting. Overall I did enjoy this book but it was not my favorite.

After a few bad days, I was in need of a sweet book written by one of my favorite authors to take my mind away from everything.
And in comes Whitley Cox. She's an amazing author and her books are amazing and heartfelt with a touch of hotness and sassiness in between.
Second Chance With The Rancher is her latest release and it's the second book from the Young Sisters series.
This book explores the lives of Nate and Mieka.
These two are no strangers to each other, oh no sir. They had a one-night stand at their sibling's wedding and then parted ways.
After two years, she's back at Nate's ranch...
So so beautiful. Do amazing. This book left me feeling so freaking good.
Amazing plot, well written, super engaging, sweet, heartfelt, and hot.
Loved the way the story progressed and it was impossible to stop reading.
The characters worked perfectly with each other and I loved the teasing.
Loved the seduction, loved the chemistry, and their banter.
Oh my God, I've laughed so hard...
The kitty... Ah, ah, ah... So good.
What can you do when you lose your way?
How can you do something else when you spend your entire life doing the thing you love the most?
Can you sit down a just give up? Or will you fight your way back again?
Some of the subjects in this book can happen to anyone, and you will show your real self when you can overcome the fear of change.
These two were hilarious and I laughed so hard that I almost wet my panties...
It was awesome to read about Macklin, he really is an attention seeker, and Fumble, oh my God, that goat is hilarious...
This book was just what I needed to lighten up my mood.
Another amazing book Whitley. You rock.

I enjoyed this second book about the Young sisters, but I was a little disturbed regarding the actions taken by Mieka after she had her one-night stand with Nate at her sister's wedding. I also spent three-quarters of the book wanting to shake her and tell her to wake up to the wonderful opportunities that were right in front of her and to quit wallowing in what she had had in the past with her career and realize that she wasn't the first person that would have had to start over in a brand-new direction! For those reasons, I just couldn't give this my usual highest star rating that I have always felt were well-deserved for any book written by Whitley Cox. Nate was such a wonderfully caring man, especially when he admitted to himself just why he hadn't been able to get Mieka out of his mind after meeting her at his brother Asher's wedding and the one-night stand he had had with her. His attempts to show her that country-life could be just as fulfilling as her life as a dancer on a cruise ship had been was touching and endearing. He needs to be cloned and offered to the women of the world looking for a man who knows how to make them feel loved and cared about! Overall, this was a wonderfully entertaining book with lovely characters, and a touching storyline.

I'm not sure why but I don't tend to read romance with cowboys & ranches (my mother never understood this since I grew up in the country) but I'll never pass on a Whitley Cox book as she's one of the few authors that I love this type of book from. This story follows Mieka & Nate whose siblings got married & they hooked up at that wedding. Mieka left after that to go back to her life dancing on cruise ships, and she didn't want life on a ranch. These days, she's back after breaking her arm & losing her position in her dance company as dancers have a short shelf life. Nate is so happy to see her again, and the sparks are flying between them like crazy which do end up igniting again but despite the fact they're perfect for each other, she still doesn't want ranch life. Nate is determined to get her to see that she could be happy with ranch life but will he actually get through to her?! This story was so fun to read with all the hilarious banter between them, the heat, the sweet, the angst, and very entertaining stubborn cat references (have one of those of my very own) so I was laughing quite a bit throughout. Second Chance With the Rancher is another amazing Whitley Cox read that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I never come away disappointed from a Whitley Cox story, and this one once again was jammed packed with everything I have come to love about this author, it was witty, the banter between Nate and Mieka is a joy to read, of course, and it was hot, well it is a Whitley Cpx book, the family connection which Ms Cox does so well was ever present with Mieka and her sister who we meet in the previous Young Sisters story, there is always the serious side to this author, and she went a little deeper then usually with Second Chance with the Rancher which some readers might not care for, but if you want your romances to have the real believable edge, then this author never backs down from a challenge.

This couple did have a fling at the wedding of Mieka sisters who was marrying Nate's brother but it was more of a drunken wedding thing, now Mieka is back on the ranch after breaking her arm and the instant chemistry is there from the start but will Mieka stay this time and grab the happiness at her fingertips, she would be silly not with a rancher like Nate waiting for her to choose him, I adored the fun hot epilogue too, a classic Ms Cox masterpiece.

I have read many books by the author because she has an incredible way of delivering a story and this one is absolutely wonderful. The plot centers around Mieka who is a woman pushing the upper limit of her dance career when an accident has her company releasing her. Lost with nothing left, she decides to head to Colorado where she reconnects with her brother-in-law, Nate. The two have serious chemistry but it is like the story of the country mouse and the city mouse where Mieka is bent on returning to the city and Nate is a country boy through and through, but he does his darndest to convince Mieka to stay. Will she take Nate up on his offer or will she leave? This storyline has all the va va va voom to keep you invested in turning those pages. It is unputdownable. The feelings that are evoked from the developing relationship between the two is nothing short of heartwarming. The interaction between the characters and what they go through is mimicked in the real world as there are people who struggle with ADHD and other mental challenges. The storyline flows effortlessly and when all is said and done, you feel warm, uplifted, and happy. I highly recommend this book.

I love the author and her books are always smattered with humor. This one was well written (as are all of her books) However, the controversial portion took away some of my enjoyment. It wasn't just a quick mention, it was brought up multiple times which made me consider whether to finish or not. But, the great characters (including the animals which I loved) and the family as well as the couple wouldn't let me stop.

Her sister's wedding brought out feelings along with a little too much liquid celebration. One night and she went back to her job as a dancer on a cruise ship and he to the family ranch and vacation spot. When she comes to recover at the ranch of her brother-in-law and sister and his brother Nate—her wedding one night, she's injured and jobless. Nate is determined to make her see the amazing life on the ranch.

Will he succeed? Is she ready to make permanent changes?

Great characters, fun animals, and hot guys and gals. Another good one from the author.

I did enjoy this second chance between Mieka and Nate. What started as a one night stand had the sparks burning between them when they get to spend time together again. There are ups and downs with this one. I do like how they connect, it's a very spicy and sometimes I wish there would have been a bit more deeper connection that just the spice. I really liked Nate, his heart, his pull to her, and how he handled certain things. I had fun checking in with Asher and Triss again. I am looking forward to more from this series!

Over 30 times the word "cat" was used, not referring to the four legged kind. "Stubborn cat" was a popular usage. A few times, sure but each time I rolled my eyes a bit. Also, this story is set in Colorado where weed is legal and it's a strong part of the characters. I have no issue with that and am waiting for it to be legal in my state but when it's "high sex is the best sex" more than once as well. Just things that took me out of the story and pulled it down a star.

To get to the story lets first talk about the background which is the start of the relationship between Mieka and Nate. Its been two years since they met at her sister’s wedding. Even to this day Nate has not been able to get over her and the one-night stand they had.

Mieka decides to return to the ranch after she hurt herself at work and got laid off, and her job is just in shambles. While there Nate tries his best to convince her that the ranch could be a great opportunity for her and a perfect way to start over.

This is the first book I have read by this author, but I found it to be a highly enjoyable book and look forward to more.

I think if I say much more about it then I will give away all the good stuff. I have already said too much. So if you want more head over to your favorite platform and get the book for yourself.

Such a great addition to the series.
Could be read as standalone.
I really loved the interaction between Nate and Mieka, they had an easy rapport, I especially liked how easy they had banter and Nate just got her, he understood her so easily.
Nate and Mieka are just made for each other. However she does not think so.
An injury and the loss of her job as a dancer on cruise ships brought her to her sister Triss.
She slept with Nate at the wedding of Triss and Asher, his brother. They were both drunk and things got out of hand and there were serious repercussions, they both seemed to have wanted more but with her job it wasn’t possible at the time and those feelings seem as strong as ever and Nate is determined to show Mieka she could love life with him on the ranch.
Without spoiling the story it has humour love and drama.
Loved the stubborn cat references lol 😂
A great love story that gives a lovely HEA ending.

This was a good addition to the Young Sisters series and is Mieka Young and Nate Harris’s second chance at love story. After an accident leaves Mieka injured and jobless, she has no option but to visit her sister’s ranch in Colorado.

Here, Mieka does a lot of soul searching and when Nate re connects with her, he is determined to show her what her life has been missing. Can they come to terms with the past, move on and find a lasting love together?

The chemistry between Mieka and Nate is intense. I fell hard for Nate, there is so much more to him than what he shows the world, and I loved the witty banter and connection that he shared with Mieka.

It was good to see some familiar faces throughout the story; it added an added to my enjoyment of the story.

Second Chance With The Rancher was an entertaining well written romantic love story that ticked the boxes for me.

5 ⭐️ Witty, small town romance that makes you fall in love with the characters

Second Chance with the Rancher is a fantastic follow-up to Snowed in with the Rancher. We get to meet another one of the Young sisters and fall in love with her too. The bonus is Nate. I thought Alex his brother was great, but Nate is in another category. He comes across as laid back, but he is s as nothing but laid back. He is determined to show Mieka that life on the ranch fits her.

Mieka has come to stay with her (and new brother-in-law)while she heals her broken arm and her self esteem for being fired for being too old to be a dancer on a cruise ship. She needs to find what she wants to do next, but living on a ranch isn’t in her plans.

The witty banter, chemistry and setting make for a wonderful story. Nate and Mieka will make you fall in love with them. I love the continuation of the Young sister novels and look forward to the next one.

Second Chance with the Rancher is book 3 in the Young Sisters Series and I have to say Mieka Young and Nate Harris’s second chance romance is a wonderful addition to the series.
When Mieka is involved in an accident she finds herself jobless and in need of her family so she has no option but to return to her sisters ranch in Colorado. After spending time thinking about where she is going she finds herself wondering if she has a future with the man she shared a past with…..
Nate is determined to prove he is worthy of a second chance but will their pasts break or make them. You are going to need to one click to see what the future holds for Nate and Mieka.
I loved everything about this book, the characters are easy to bond with and easy to love but it’s the beautifully written story that takes this journey to another level. Once again Ms Cox has has a given us a read worthy of more than five stars.

Good story with two complicated main characters. Meika was guarded and stubborn, often to her own detriment. Nate had his head in the sand for much of the book, ignoring the truth in front of him. Took forever for them to get out of their own way but once they did, it was lovely to witness. Great second chance read!

Second Chance with the Rancher was such a fun, crass and sexy read! I loved, LOVED Nate and I really enjoyed Mieka but at times I wanted to shake her and ask what was going on in her head?!?!?!

I understood where she was coming from, losing her career earlier than she expected, feeling out of sorts, old and washed up. I got it, completely. But she blended so well at the ranch that all her internal back and forth was a little annoying, at times.

But the overall story was GREAT, with baby goats, newborn horses and the most amazing landscape. And let's not forget the incredibly hot high sex. It was hot, really, really hot and it served to perfectly bond Mieka and Nate perfectly.

The story was long but maybe that's just because I'm super busy, but I enjoyed the story from beginning to end.

With her sister, brother in law , the farm animals, Bruno, the crazy goat. Their new cabins and people who want her to teach dance. Giving Mieka's head and heart things to feel and fight for. Nate wants it all with her. He is fighting fir both of them. Read this fun living story. Find out if the ranch life is as exciting or more then the ship. Will these two find their happiness on the ranch with family and the animals? Nate giving Mieka everything and more a home a family and many many many more jobs!!!!! Lol

Second Chance with the Rancher is the second-chance at love story for Mieka, the middle Young sister, and Nate, her brother-in-law. That alone makes for an interesting, tension-filled twist to this romance. Add in the fact that Mieka is low on self-esteem, full of stubborness and soon high on hormones while Nate is bound and determined to do everything in his power to convince her to stay and you've got a passion- and emotion-filled book with a wonderfully quirky ending. Meeting Triss and Asher again is just a wonderful additonal perk and I hope we'll get a reunion when it's time for Oona Young to meet her match.

Wonderful story.
This was such a wonderful story there was already steaming sexual chemistry between Mieka & Nate from Triss & Asher's wedding & when they met again it was still there. After being injured, losing her job & home Mieka's self esteem was at an all time low so when she turned up at the ranch to recover Nate was ready to show her how strong she is. He had never gotten over her & wanted to show her that they could have perfect life together on the ranch but she was too independent & didn't think life on a ranch was for her but he wanted her to give him a second chance to prove that he was worthy of him. They both had their fair share of trauma & pain it was lovely to see them opening up to each other growing closer & more comfortable together as the story went on. They had me smiling, laughing at lot with the banter between them, blushing when it was a mega hot & steamy, tearing up at a few emotional times but then there were times I just wanted to give Mieka a shake to tell her to give him a chance but also Nate to tell him not to put too much pressure on her, they kept me dangling with the promise of a happy ever after. It was lovely to hear about the other Young sister's & I can't wait for the next book.

This is the third book in the series and such a great addition to the series. I lobed Nate and Mieka. Nate had me swooning big time in the book. His love for the animals on the ranch alone had me won over. Then as he tries to convince Mieka that ranch life is worth living swooning really started. These two have a bit of a past and with what Mieka is going through life has given them a second chance. Their one night together doesn't hold a candle to the heat these two can really generate together. This book has the winning combination of heat, heart, and humor! Mieka is at a bit of a crossroads in life. Uncertain of her future and what path to take, but Nate makes one compelling case. These Young sisters know how to weasel into your heart that's for sure!

Mieka and Nate are getting a second chance after hooking up one night before Mieka went back to her job as a dancer on a cruise line. When she gets injured while on the job she gets let go and to take some time to figure her life out she decides to spend time with her sister who is married to Nate's brother. Upon her return, feelings that were put on hold are now free as Nate decides to accept her challenge of convincing her that staying put and giving their growing affection a chance may just be what she needs. Will this wandering traveler be able to accept the roots shes made or drive away?

Second Chance with the Rancher does not disappoint. It is emotional, passionate, sizzling hot and the connection and chemistry between the characters is off the charts. The pull between Nate and Meika is one that you feel soul deep. Their pasts will play a huge part in this story and it will at times have you holding your breath. The banter in this story adds an extra depth of entertainment and the Nate and Meika will steal your heart. This author knows how to write a story and bring characters to life like no other. This third book in the Young Sisters series will have you falling in love right along with the characters.

There’s a bit of a backstory which is explained in the book, but concentrates on Nate trying to convince the newly jobless Mieka that the ranch will provide the perfect life for her. Plenty of ups and downs - and steamy moments - which are sure to keep the pages turning.
Highly enjoyable book in the series, entertaining and funny in places (will never think of a stubborn cat quite the same way!) and a definite unhesitating one click.

This is a second chance for Mieka to have a relationship
with Nate after two years apart.
Mieka returns to the ranch after she hurt herself at work
and got laid off.
Nate still had not really got over her from a one night stand
at one of her sisters wedding.
That is the back ground to the start of their relationship.
If I say anything more it will give the story away and I don’t
want to that to except to say it a real page turner.
Great plot and fantastic characters.

Mieka is let go from her job after a bad fall and she goes to Colorado to be withher sister Triss and her family. Nate has been thinking about Mieka after their night one night stand at Triss and his brother Adher's wedding. He asks for one month to show her that the ranch is where she should be. Is it? Passion, everyday drama will keep her mind busy, but will the rancher be enough and can he prove her that this could be her life? Fabulous story and characters with great chemistry. Can't wait to see which sister is next?

I absolutely loved Nate and Mieka’s story! They were great together! The banter between them was very entertaining! Nate loved ranch life, but Mieka thinks that she needs the hustle and bustle of big city life. Will he be able to convince her to stay with him? Second Chance with the Rancher is a great story with amazing characters, wonderful chemistry, lots of emotions and many amazing animals! Fumble the escape artist goat was hilarious! This story is a fantastic addition to the Young Sisters series!

The obvious choice for Mieka is to go and stay with her sister and step brother at the Ranch to recover from her injury and figure out what her future looks like. The attraction between her and Nate is still there and to be honest I think there history from the wedding and after that only made their connection stronger so there were times of frustration when Mieka couldn't see what was in from of her. There are plenty of laughs, heartache as well as hope and the chance of a happy ever after even if it is with a cowboy er I mean Rancher!
