“This is the assignment, Bree … and we’re not going to back out just because you have an aversion to weirdos and kinkiness.” That’s what my editor-in-chief tells me when he gives me the assignment. The Black Collar is the new BDSM club in Philly, and my job is to learn everything I can about the club … and its owner. At first, I detest the idea of sitting down with anyone living such a grotesque lifestyle, but when I meet Nolan Carter, everything I thought I knew is turned on its head until I don't know which way is up. With every interview, I learn something new about both Nolan and myself. He tells me things, and I feel every word. I’m reeled in by each new detail, and before I know it, I’m falling down a rabbit hole I can’t climb out of. My friends don’t recognize me anymore, and I can barely recognize myself. But, the feeling of dread in my gut never dissipates, and just as I’m ready to embrace something new, I’m reminded of the fears I had all along. Though I try to ignore it, there’s a nightmare looming, and it has every intention of plunging my new dream into permanent darkness.

I *know* fiction is fiction. That should suspend some belief for the sake of the story. I'm also a real life submissive; when it comes to k¡nk and/or 🐝D$M, I know what I'm doing. So, even though it's fiction, it's also basically set in a 🐝D$M club, which means you expect certain things to be done certain ways (well, you should if you're like me and you actually know what you're doing). And this book? Ain't it. I don't even know where to start... the female lead's close-mindedness wasn't so much a bother because I pretty much grew up the same way; I could sympathize and empathize. The friends were pretty gross though, very annoying and even more judgey and stuck up than I could take. And then we get to the club. And it goes even faster downhill from there. I DNFed at 50% by the way. Who in their right mind takes on the responsibility of a club and all its patrons and their safety, especially where things like impact play and breath play and S&M is obviously the "reason" for the whole thing, and then immediately takes a perfect fkn stranger upstairs for impact play *the very first time they meet*?!?! The FL didn't have a fkn clue what she was doing or getting into! Never mind that everyone else in attendance just let it happen, nobody stopped it much less batted an eye. That's not at all how any of that is done! K¡nk/🐝D$M isn't something you just jump into, you take baby steps. There wasn't even any crawling in this book! And all of that ^ is before they even get upstairs 🙄🤦♀️ then the impact play starts, along with a story showing a man who can't control his temper and struck his sub in anger. Anger, stress, sadness - negative emotions have absolutely zero room to be in absolutely any kind of scene, "sæd¡st" or not. For some reason, that wasn't quite enough to make me stop reading. What was finally my breaking point was their "date". Disregarding the fact that he didn't keep to his plan and they both let their emotions get the best of them *and* he didn't make sure she was fed, the straw that broke the camel's back for me was in the car. He put his hand around her throat. No safeword or signal, no discussion or consent, she's literally gasping for air when he releases her. No. No no no no no no no! And that's all I'm saying or I'll go off on another tangent. Just no. Absolutely none of this was it.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an E-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!
You follow Bree who is a journalist, and Nolan who is the owner of The Black Collar, a BDSM club. Bree is required to interview Nolan. Bree has always been raised to always do the right thing, settle down with a man, get married, have kids, stop working, etc. But when Bree meets Nolan for the interview, she starts to realize that maybe she doesn't want to do what she was raised and told to do all her life. Nolan opens up another world for Bree, and she starts questioning her "friends" that keep telling her what she should do. Bree realizes that her "friends" were never really her friends -- they didn't have the intentions to support her or her interests.
THIS. BOOK. This was my first book from W.S. Greer, and I'm speechless. I can't believe that I even waited this long to read his books. I've been wanting to read W.S. Greer's writing since I saw his book Kingdom on BookTok. Saying that this book is good is an understatement. This book deserves ALL THE STARS, and everyone needs to go read this book when it comes out. Just stop what you're reading on April 6th, DOWNLOAD THIS BOOK AND START READING IT. I read this book in 4 hours and in one sitting, that's how hooked I was. Honestly, I didn't even have to read the blurb to know that I will love this book. The cover alone is what told me that this book was going to be 5 stars. I loved the characters, the setting, the writing, just everything about this book. I just finished this book, and I want to reread it again and annotate the hell out of it. I will be making all of W.S. Greer backlist books a TOP PRIORITY of books to read.
This book is definitely GREAT for someone starting out in the dark romance world of reading. I definitely enjoyed it. The way the characters were set up to understand each other and made to feel comfortable in their own skin was awesome. I had to laugh at the 50 shades and (maybe) twilight reference. 😂😂
I decided to give this author a chance because I happened upon a tiktok of his wherein he boasted that he essentially wasn't like the rest of male romance writers, unfortunately, his writing didn't quite live up to that. This story and the spice still read very much like a man writing from the perspective of a woman. The female side characters were one dimensional and shallow. The story premise was okay, but I probably wouldn't pick this up again.
I really enjoyed this book and the concept- it’s exactly as it sounds and such good spice;) Bree interviews a sadist and she is a super conservative minded woman or so she thinks but as it turns out, once she gets inside a bdsm club, she finds she likes it more than she thinks! Hence her asking to be taught how pain can bring pleasure. I loved the side characters in the club, there was a little bit of a plot twist unhinged character to add substance to the story and I loved Nolan (sadist) and how he shows the lifestyle and the love in it:) Another great book by WS Greer!
Thank you to WS Greer and team for providing me an ARC of this book!
IWAS follows Bree, an investigative reporter, on her newest assignment, an interview with the enigmatic owner of Philadelphia’s most talked about nightclub, The Black Collar. Bree is shocked and not a little frightened to hear about her assignment, expecting the absolute worst when she steps behind the club’s doors with her judgmental attitude and preconceived notions.
I enjoyed Bree, even if she did give me whiplash with her roller coaster emotions which seemingly changed day to day without much justification. She’s confident, intelligent, and strong willed while still projecting a very real vulnerability as she struggles with conflicting feelings and toxic AF friends.
Nolan is the subject of Bree’s interview and owner of the Black Collar. He’s easily the best part of this story and a magnetic character who draws in the reader from the moment he appears on page. Nolan makes you want to know him. To hear him speak, to learn from him. When these two come together, it’s a collision that changes them both in ways neither saw coming.
I very much enjoyed their story and this book, even if the plot line and central conflict were both a bit cliched and predictable. I felt that both characters could’ve benefited from more development, particularly Nolan. He’s the reason we’re following Bree on this journey and I wanted to know more about him. We spend a lot of time in Bree’s head getting a feel for her thought process and development as a character, but less so for Nolan. I also would’ve loved to see more of a slow burn between these two. I know I’m in the minority and lots of people dislike the slow burn, but I think the story would’ve benefitted from a bit more angst. The external conflict could’ve been eliminated entirely in favor of more depth between these two without sacrificing the central plot at all. If there’s one thing only to say about WS Greer, though, the man can write the hell out of a spicy scene. Several of which were cleverly incorporated as exposition for the reader via recollections by Nolan to Bree as part of her research.
Overall, fans of Greer’s will not be disappointed.
I follow this author on TikTok and realized that I’ve never read a super spicy book written by a man. This book was definitely a fun intro to that. I personally don’t have much experience with BDSM so I can’t say whether that’s well done myself. From the outside of that life, this seemed like a fun intro but there is at least one review that says it’s not a good depiction of it in real life. I thought the fMC’s change of mind throughout felt well done as well as how things played out in the end but some of the supporting characters were more flay. I liked the dual POVs and the theme of the book overall. I’m looking forward to trying another book by the author.
This is a NEW author to me. I picked it up because I have a slight SADIST KINK and wanted to see for myself how well the information about that and the world was. I actually got really into it, I was enjoying it but the problem I have with this book is the Hero....everything was great until it's not when the hero ventures out and I get a "he sounds gay" vibe and well that's not a bad thing i have nothing against that because I actually love MM romances but in this book the hero is to be the dominant the master and is portrait as that throughout the whole book. The reason it bothered me was because he would be alpha and what I need from a Master then turn into saying things like "cool?" and calling the heroine "Hey girl" that style. I really hope this comes across as what it is, me expecting and getting a heterosexual Master 80% of the time then he ventures off and throws ME OFF the balance of reading. This is probably the only review I have ever written where I feel nervous everyone is going to take it the wrong way, but I really enjoyed this book and that threw me off so much that I gave it a 3 star. I will say that bravo on all the research I'm sure done on this and the details, I loved every minute of the BDSM aspect of this!
This was an interesting story.. shows a different side of the BDSM world. I enjoyed the story very much… it was HOT at some points… but not as much as I had hoped for… I realized while reading it.. this author is very, very descriptive. Not anything wrong with it.. just a lot of words that I will skip. I don’t need to know the details of curtains and wall… get to the good stuff. LOL
With all of that said… it was a good book… just not GREAT for me.
This story follows Nolan, the owner of a new club in town that deals and specializes in BDSM and Bree, an infamous journalist that is assigned to capture the story of the club and its owner. But the story evolves into more when curiosity rises, desires flare and a crazy ex that decides to stake their claim!
This was a really good read, the author did such good telling a balanced tale of adventure and self discovery, pleasure & pain, and how the real world of BDSM can and should be. Nothing was sugar coated in this and I think a lot of people needed to be reminded of that. There's so much more to the BDSM community and misinformation can easily be fixed by doing the proper research.
I was really excited to read this but I was a little disappointed by the end. I just felt there was more that could've been done to this story in regards to the reader's connection to the characters and some parts of the dialogue. The writing style felt a bit disconnected in some places and the spice and fluff were mildly cringey in a few others. It didn't flow how I expected it to but I still enjoyed it enough to definitely want a trophy copy!!
The spicey scenes were few in quantity and didn't over run the story so you could focus on the underlying messages, which was GREAT for me! But when you did get into a scene the quality of it was so good you could feel it, almost as if you were there. Almost!
Definitely looking forward to reading more from this author, especially with it being a male!
This book was good. The storyline kind of reminded of 50 Shades of Gray, but with a little more of a punch. I love the main character, who was able to be open-minded and was able to change her opinion about the BDSM world.
INTERVIEW WITH A SADIST by WS Greer is the story of Bree and Nolan. Bree is a investigative report but she has been raised to find a husband and had a family. Bree sort of had tunnel vision with that goal. When she is assigned to interview Nolan who is the owner of the Black Collar establishment he starts to open her eyes to more. This starts their story.
I think this may be the first book that heavily features kink/bdsm that didn’t make me repeatedly cringe at how some things were described and portrayed. This is just so beautifully written. Perfect mix of spicy with a good plot, I loved every second of it and couldn’t put it down.
Bree has lived her life the way she always thought was expected until on day she meets Nolan and that one encounter changes everything for her and makes her realize things she’s never felt before
I’ve never DNF’d a book, but there was just no way I could power through it. The heroine was annoying to me right off the bat. The amount of times the author used the words “kink” and “kinky” in a single chapter was so much it was hard not to noticed. They way her maille boss would talk to her seemed like he was trying to use “girl” lingo, like “girlfriends” instead of just saying friends, and how the characters would verbally describe the appearance of another instead of just in description (in their head). The main hero was fine until he started giving off “gay vibes” when he’s suppose to be the Dominant, broody hero. More so in the way he “talked” to her at times.
It had potential and I was interested by the blurb, but it fell through for me.
Thank you again for allowing me to Beta read this for you!

Bree is a journalist sent to interview Nolan about his new club that he opened up in Philly. The Black Collar.
I thoroughly enjoyed the character growth & realism in Bree as a character she’s wonderfully written!
I REALLY wish Octavia was real because i FREAKING love her. i feel like she’s my bestie. she’s so raw & honest but also so caring.
“You sound so good when you scream” 🐱💦
also not to mention i don’t think i’ve ever wanted a frozen lasagna so badly (if you know you know) 😏
this was my second WS Greer book. it was phenomenal. from the scene setting to the main characters to the side characters to the real life aspects inside the plot i ate up every second of it! He also has a thing for adding unhinged side characters 😂 to keep the plot … interesting.
The ending made me SO SO HAPPY for Bree & Nolan.
This book has so many amazing aspects of it it’s LGBTQ+ friendly & it really paints the real picture of what BDSM is & the beauty in it that so many don’t understand.
if you enjoy seggs clubs or BDSM please consider this book because it had me mouth wide open at my kindle from the steamy smut to the crazy characters & also laughing at hilarious character dialogue.
Honestly... if I could give this less than 1 star I would. I don't know where to begin with this book... First of all, I know a LOT of people in this community who've read this book and were appalled, I'm a part of the community and I'm heavily disappointed. There was so much potential at representing this community correctly, and it fell so short. 1. I didn't appreciate the constant use of the word "disgusting" when describing this community in the beginning, it wasn't necessary to demonstrate how the FMC felt about this new community to her. 2. I felt the book was very rushed, upon first meetings between the MMC and FMC, the MMC was already deciding he knew her mannerisms and what she was thinking when he met her 10 minutes ago, made no sense. 3. I felt like I could see where the author was trying to go with the two friends of the FMC, but it's heavily missing the mark, you can write dislikable characters that assist with pushing a MC forward in a story, but not like this. 4. The religious aspect made no sense, in the beginning, there was a specific point made that the FMC didn't fall into a religious following, but then had heavily religious influenced views that were intensely related to sex, felt contradictory, and wishy-washy. 5. Maddy felt like a very flat character overall, like some female characters simply serve a purpose with no real depth. 6. Nolan felt creepy to me, I don't know if it was just me, or what, (and believe me...I read a LOT of dark romance, it's about all I read, so I've read a lot of crazy MMC's and FMC's), which is odd because of the insistence of love and consent being in the club. 7. The use of language was a huge point of turn off to me, the constant use of "Brutalize" and "dehumanize" was odd in Nolan's chapters for his partner, which there's supposed to be a level of love or trust or something between two people... I don't know...felt like a weird choice. 8. The way the author was portraying the BDSM/Kink community felt very back and forth, painting it in a good light, only to turn around and make it seem callous, and cold, which made no sense with Nolan's description of "love, trust and consent" 9. I felt that it was strange and out of pocket for someone to put someone with such viewpoints on the community and judgments through such extreme acts when she's never tried anything before and is just being introduced, felt dis-ingenuine to a real scenario or anything logical.
Personal Opinions: 1. I didn't like the use of "Little One" felt too child-like to me, which didn't mesh well at all with the content of the book. 2. The FMC turnaround to the BDSM/Kink community actions was rushed and crazy to me. She went from being horrified over a sex scene Nolan is telling her about where he makes a woman bleed from a fl*gger, to two sentences later wanting to try it out, I'm fine if she did want to or didn't want to, but the set up is what I didn't like and felt odd and rushed.
I felt that Octavia would have been a much more fun read than Bree. I wish the roles had been reversed. I honestly didn't enjoy this, I just wanted it to be over, which is unfortunate, because there was so much potential there at the start and with the plot. People may not agree with my stance, that is fine, this is just my personal opinion and my impression of the material, based on being in the community, knowing people who've read this and are in the community, and having read a lot of dark romance, kink books and such before.
Trigger Warnings include: bondage, impact play, breath play, sadistic topics there is an added trigger, but as it’s a spoiler, it will be added to the bottom of the review
Bree’s boss doesn’t understand the definition of “good assignment, and the poor thing keeps getting tossed in the trenches to get a story. And this was definitely the trenches! From the start, 1)I didn’t like her friends. And 2)I knew it would be an issue later because I knew their opinions would have an effect on her own. I wanted to yell shut up every time they talked! And when Bree started to parrot them…well…I started to like her less. But when she started opening her mind and opinions to all the fabulous things Nolan was introducing her to, I couldn’t help but adore her! I LOVED the way the author handled that situation though! Bree wanted to understand, which meant putting trust in Nolan. That trust clicked something in his brain. I knew he was a gentleman from the start, but actually getting to witness it? I was a goner! I loved that there was no hesitation from Nolan. Whether to express his interest, his fascination, his intentions, or his infatuations. I truly loved when Bree stopped hesitating too! They had an undeniable sexual desire for each other. And it came from a place of trust and a connection of more than just sex. Their full circle moment at the end? Got my blood pumping a little extra. Oh, and you know how you get a bad feeling about a character? Yeah…trust you gut with this one!

Kindle Unlimited: Yes Stand-alone: Yes Author: WS Greer Rating: 4/5 ⭐️ Spiciness Rating: 3/5 🌶 POV: First Person Dual Perspective Main Couple: Nolan and Bree Trope(s): BDSM, Sadist/Masch, Suspense
This is my first read by WS Greer. I am always intrigued when I read romance by male authors, especially when the perspective is heavily told through the female POV. I was not sure how I was going to feel about Bree at the opening of the book, but as I read on I realized WS was just setting the circumstances. We are voyeurs as Bree sets herself free from the restrictive ideals she held on to, as she opens her mind, and embraces life and the lifestyle. As much as I enjoyed Nolan’s stories during the interview process, I wished I was able to witness more of Bree and Nolan together. I felt that the visual we were presented with was more in depth in his stories. I wanted that visual of them and not his experience with a past sub. Although, I understood the purpose of the stories. And, by the end of the book did feel that the WS wanted us to focus on the building of their relationship outside of the S/M dynamic. This was an enjoyable read and the added suspense of the storyline kept the flow interesting.
Bree has worked at the Philadelphia Inquirer as an investigative journalist for the last seven years. She grew up in a conservative household and has surrounded herself with like-minded friends. When she is handed an assignment to interview the owner of the Black Collar, the new very exclusive club in town, the carefully constructed world she has existed in begins to show all its holes.
Nolan Carter embraced the lifestyle years ago because he had a desire for more out of his sexual experiences. He owns his sadistic desires finding pleasure and sexual gratification inflicting pain. He wants to use his position to educate the public instead of letting the rumors run rampant.
Their interview leads to an up close and personal tour of the club during open hours. Bree is enthralled by the scenes before her. Every conversation they have Bree learns more, not only about the lifestyle, but Nolan himself.
I would consider this borderline/soft BDSM. It has some elements but it's mostly in memory form when the MMC is telling a story. I'll explain:
When Bree, an investigative journalist, is assigned to do a story on the new BDSM club in town, she's appalled. She's one of those goody-two shoes conservative types who was raised by the same and her friends are even more high-browed prudes. Imagine her surprise when she meets Nolan, the owner of this club and in entranced. As she interviews him, she goes from "ew" to "OH" quite quickly. Her mind is opened gradually. He tells her stories of his past submissive, how it made him feel, how she felt, and how this world is about so much more than pain/pleasure.
The more time she spends with Nolan, the more her mind starts to open. She wants to experience it all. Nolan is up for that job and shows her a touch of how pleasurable it could be in their first scene. But, even though he's described as a Dom and his stories paint him as a true sadist, he's very soft with Bree. She gets him too excited and he ends up f*cking her before he does much of anything kinky. This is very little kink between them.
In the background, you have an ex-sub that doesn't want to be an ex. Her jealousy ends up getting the best of her and Bree is on that receiving end. And with Bree's sexual enlightenments, she sees how her "friends" are fake and miserable in their own lives and could never support somethings so deviant as BDSM! *gasp* Bree finally gives them the boot out of her life and is much happier for it.
In the end, Bree struggles to write her story since there are so many mixed emotions. But she gets to it...and it's a hit.
Like I said, it's a soft BDSM because there's elements....but between the two main characters, there's very little of it so don't think you're getting deep into the lifestyle here. It's just a skim on the surface. Still a good romance story but just "Meh" in the kink department. Good spice though.
W.S. Greer has become one of my faves here lately. The fact that he's a man writing in a "woman's world" is awesome..and I want to support him all the way.
TW - self harm (cutting, secondary character, very brief mention), stalking (not by any MC), assault, attempted murder
CW - bondage, impact play, breath play, BDSM club incl exhibitionism, voyeurism, sensation play, edging, FFM scene (not the MCs), sadistic topics, anxiety, (light) Somnophilia, OW drama
Tropes - romance, erotica
At the beginning of this book, we meet Bree (FMC) and her friends who are such as$holes to the point where they infuriated me, especially the time where it seemed that Bree was almost scared to be herself around them. One thing I really liked about this book was Bree being open to be educated by Nolan (MMC) about BDSM and realise how close minded her and her friends were and the assumptions and misconceptions they had about the world of kink and BDSM.
I enjoyed the smut in this but I did feel like Bree and Nolan's relationship lacked substance and that they rushed far too quickly into all the sadism and the BDSM given that Bree is completely new to it all and was previously fully against it; the aftercare could have definitely been better 😬
For a Dom, I thought that Nolan handled his ex sub horribly and should have for sure known better than to think everything was okay and handled based on the way things ended with them. The conflict this caused could have been very easily avoided imo.
I did enjoy reading Bree's thoughts and her experience through all of this though, she defo went on a trip of thoughts and emotions from her friends, to her own thoughts, to Nolan, to what she actually wants.
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪

Journalist Bree is put on an assignment to interview the owner of a new club, get the inside scoop on what happens there. This club isn’t just a regular one, no, it’s one that is catered to those with certain tastes in the BDSM lifestyle. Bree being a pretty conservative and almost positive that she is set in her ways and beliefs is hesitant to go on this journey, but wanting to have her career take off she knows she has to follow through. Meeting Nolan leaves Bree stunned by this charming, good-looking man, and she fights the attraction knowing where she stands on his lifestyle choices or so she thinks. The more time they spend together the more intrigued Bree becomes until an invitation from Nolan to be her guide is something she thinks she should resist but can’t and finds herself emersed into it. The chemistry and steam are off the chart intense and hot, but the trust between Nolan and Bree that is built makes it all absolute perfection. What I also loved was here we have Bree who is probably like most of the population thinking one way, having preconceived judgments about the life, and influenced by others (aka her naïve friends—insert throat punches to the friends here), to get where she finds herself questioning it all. Bree battles herself and Nolan going back and forth about what she thinks she should do like follow the crowd/friends or take what she has experienced, the bliss and a deep connection she has found, and go with it. You can’t go through life thinking you know it all especially if you have never experienced it and judge others because leaving yourself open to life and new experiences can sometimes lead you to finding something amazing. Bree and Nolan have that deep level soul crushing connection that leaves you breathless and the twists in their story are ones that keep you on the edge of your seat. I can’t wait to see what Mr. Greer has in store for us next!!!
I was intrigued by the premise of WS Greer's Interview With A Sadist. A female journalist is sent to interview the owner of a new club, which happens to be a BDSM club. This journalist has had no prior interaction with the BDSM lifestyle, and other than misinformed opinion, she has no knowledge of what takes place between sexual partners within BDSM play.
Tell me that doesn't pique your interest?
Bree, is a woman in her late 20's chasing her career as an investigative reporter. Given the assignment to interview the owner of the new sex club in town, Bree comes up against her conservative upbringing and prejudices, her's and her friends.
Meeting Nolan, Bree is instantly attracted to the charismatic, handsome, man. An invitation to visit the club, to experience it for herself, with Nolan as her guide, is one Bree can't refuse. From that initial meeting, and those after, Bree finds herself falling deeper into the BDSM scene, and into a relationship with Nolan.
The premise of this book is absolutely intriguing. Where it fails to live up to it's potential is in the story itself. The relationship between Bree and Nolan is excellent, full of passion and fire, I have no complaint there. It's the drama that I found to be old hat, and very reminiscent of Fifty Shades Free. No, this isn't a rip off of that brand, its just that Mr. Greer had the perfect opportunity for a fresh approach with Bree's two self righteous friends - a path he began to follow before going with a psychotic ex-lover of Nolan's for the drama.
Interview With A Sadist is a very steamy read. Do remember this is fiction, and may not depict relationships between partners in a realstic manner. Read the trigger warnings, play between a sadist and his submissive can be triggering.
For me, this is a 3.5 star read, rounded up to 4 stars for Amazon's system. The only reason it isn't 4 - 5 stars is that disappointing lost opportunity for a fresh approach.

WOW. 🤯
This book hooked me from the blurb. About a journalist who is required to interview a BDSM club owner to find out what happens in the club and stop people from assuming things. What I didn’t expect to happen, was to fall in love with the characters and see Bree discover herself. ❤️
Bree is required to interview Nolan, the owner of The Black Collar. Bree has been raised to follow the straight and narrow path and to not deviate from it. To look to settle down with a man, get married, stop working, and have kids. Her two friends are all going along that path and her family has instilled that in her too. It’s not until she interviews Nolan, that she realizes there is more inside of her that she wants to explore. Nolan opens another world to Bree, not just sexually, but who she is as a person. Bree starts questioning the intentions of her so called “friends” and realizes that they would never support her or her interests.
As Nolan helps Bree discover herself, they can’t deny this pull that they have towards one another. It goes much deeper than either of them expected. When a past sub comes back to rear her ugly head, things becoming strained between Nolan and Bree. But, no matter what, they can’t deny their true feelings for one another. ❤️
This was just so good. I loved the connection between Bree and Nolan and how deep it truly went. They bring out the good in each other and I was so happy to see them get their HEA and cut the negativity out of their life for good. 🥰
This book had me FEELING THINGS, y’all!! It was soooo gooood! I loved the dynamic between the FMC Bree & the MMC Nolan. The tension between them was palpable at a minimum! When Bree goes to interview Nolan, who owns a local BD$m club called The Black Collar, I knew THEN, from their very first interaction, that I was in for a wild ride! And man, was I RIGHT!! I love Bree’s character development. She went from a very close minded individual, to being the MOST open minded in her friend group. Nolan has a way of bringing things out in Bree that I’m sure she never realized was there. So not only that, but the spice was TOP FREAKING TIER! I mean temperature raising, sweating, panty melting spice! And then we have the aspect of a scorned ex who is NOT HAPPY about Bree being around the club & around Nolan. And that’s putting it lightly. I was so anxious when this plot line finally came to a head. I mean I was ACTUALLY on the edge of my seat, kindle in hand, mouth hanging open & head in my hand! And I just have to say, I ADORED the side characters in this book! Nolan’s best friends E & J are married and equally obsessed with each other. And they are HILARIOUS! They literally made me laugh out loud several times. Bree’s new friend at work, Octavia, was incredible! She was such a great friend to Bree, encouraged her to follow her hearts desires, and hella funny to boot! We all need an Octavia in our lives! All that to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and 10/10 recommend! It definitely will not be the last W.S Greer book that I read! In fact, Kingdom is up next and I CANNOT wait to dive into it! Interview With A Sadist is available on KU!!
4.5⭐ 4🌶️ W.S. Greer starts this book off showing us how closed-minded Bree and her friends are. I really hated her friends and disliked her for going along with what they thought even though it was clear that she did not 100% agree.
Bree comes from a conservative background but knows she wants more than to just be a stay at home wife like her friends. When her boss gives her the assignment of interviewing the owner of a BDSM that recently opened, she is instantly hesitant and shows just how little she knows about the lifestyle.
Nolan is an attractive and put together guy and so different from the "kinky freak with a million tattoos and body piercings" that she was expecting. When he insists that she comes into the club when it is open and running for the second part of her interview, she doesn't know what to think. Does she listen to her closed-minded friends and threaten to sue her boss, or does she listen to her work friend and go through with an experience most people don't get?
There is a bit of twists thrown in that I was not necessarily expecting, but it is one that we see often. It would have been refreshing to see it go a different direction, but it does not take from the story at all.
The growth we see in Bree through out this story was amazing and I loved her thought processes and confusion. Nolan is so patient while also standing up for who he is and the lifestyle he lives. The chemistry between them is wild and it causes for some steamy scenes.
Bree is the typical, conservative-raised young woman. At 29, she’s single but has a career she loves and according to her she’s “dating her job”. Then her editor gives her the ULTIMATE assignment. There’s a new BDSM club in the city and the owner has finally agreed to give her magazine, the exclusive. Tasked with the assignment, Bree is to interview Nolan Carter and learn about what goes on at his exclusive “sex” club.
Thoughts:: Nolan may just be added to my list of book boyfriends! Wow wow wow!!! The monster beneath the man can sure as hell make any woman hot and bothered!
I liked Bree, her willingness to be open-minded despite how she was raised and being confident in who she was becoming. She had a lot of growth as a character. Also, she’s 29 and as a 35yo, I know many women really start to explore what they like in bed in her 30s. Especially those who were raised in conservative homes and made to feel like sex is a bad thing.
I love Octavia and the friendship that blooms between her and Bree. I HATE Melissa and Teagan, kink shaming and making Bree feel like a total slut for opening her mind to a world where sex is a good thing. They’re close-mindedness made me want to jump in the story and slap them.
My favorite thing about this book was ALL the consent AND non-kink shaming!
Deliciously Addictive! Bree, a 29 year old journalist, finds herself in a work related predicament. The way she grew up and the things she was told had her trying and wanting to back out from the assignment. Even her college beasties were against it, which made the decision to follow through that much harder. Against everything in her being, she decides to do it just for work, but what she doesn't know is who Nolan really is. Nolan is such a gentleman. Not only is he ridiculously handsome, but he has morals and a heart of gold that captures Bree's attention right off the bat. What Bree finds disturbing is how interested she becomes in the BDSM world as she uncovers the man behind the lifestyle and discovers there is way more to it than she ever knew. Nolan just wants everyone to know the truth and the passion the lifestyle offers. Just as things are heating up, Nolan's past creeps in. Can Bree survive it?
WOW!! I'm not lying when I say that this is delishously addictive! I couldn't put it down. I had to force myself to put it down so I could get my housework done. WS Greer, it's all your fault that I was distracted all day and didn't get near enough done! I found myself picking this up every chance I got. Men write romance, too, and I'm here for it. Well done, Sir (wink)
