Make Me Scream: A Dark Romance

Rate this book
“She needed a mentor. She found a master.”

Gwen tried to stay away from me. I’ve spent years bashing her favorite artist, the one who inspired her to escape a broken home and earn a full scholarship to Manhattan’s top art college – where I’m a professor. It was only a matter of time before our paths crossed.

When we meet, she can’t resist telling me off. She has no idea who I really am, or that only I can help her live up to her idol. But after a small mistake reveals one of my deepest secrets, she seeks me out, demanding my guidance... and craving my touch.

She longs to explore her dark inclinations, to express her twisted carnal hungers. I yearn to capture her beauty. Our attraction could ruin us, but I have so much to teach her, and she’s eager to learn.

She couldn’t have known a monster lurks within our school. While her art finds its audience, he’s watching too. He’s taken students before, and if she isn’t careful, she’ll be next…

Publisher’s note: Make Me Scream is a standalone dark romance novel. No cliffhangers, HEA guaranteed. This book contains material some may find disturbing. Reader discretion is advised.

Get ready for a new story by Sansa Rayne! Make Me Scream is what you might expect of her,a rollercoaster ride with a lot of heat and suspense. And i was the lucky girl that got the ARC!!!

Gwen feels lucky to be admitted to Mundell Acadamy.
Getting the opportunity to study there, and develop her art,is the chance of a lifetime.
Being in the same city as her idol, the mysterious artist Alastair Rat,is a thrill, and she can’t help, but hope to see some of his work.
But there’s something sinister going on…girls have been disappearing.
Girls that attended the Academy.
What happened to them?
And who’s responsible?

Can she trust Lane Porter, one of the teachers and someone that dislikes her idol?
His own work is sensual and provoking, and it awakens something in her.
He is willing to take her under his wings, and help her improve the quality of her work…..and in return,he will show her how good it can feel to give up control.
She likes what he does to help, and she enjoys what he brings out in her too, but….

Then there’s Rush Mundell, her teacher and owner of Mundell, who keeps pushing her in another direction.
He wants her to stop trying to follow in Rat’s footsteps, and use a different, more suitable style in her work.
One worthy of Mundell Academy.
But she doesn’t want to forced into a mold….isn’t he supposed to support free expression in art??

Hearing about the girls that disappeared without a trace, makes Gwen determined to find out what happened to them.
Especially after finding out who they were all connected to…..
But just when she comes close to the answer, she’s taken….but by who,and what for?
And will she make it out alive??

This is a story in true Sansa Rayne style.
The heroine is openminded,resilient,and strong.
The hero has a darker, kinky side, with a firm belief of what’s right and what’s wrong.
They both think outside the box,and are ready to fight for what they believe in.

The story sucks you in from the start, and doesn’t let go until you have all the answers.
Then,at last,you can take a relieved,and very deep,breath.
Because you survived another Sansa Rayne rollercoaster ride.
So,i’m sure you can understand why i’m always eager to read her stories!

CAPTIVE SUSPENSE
A twisted rollercoaster ride with one heck of a twist. An amazing read with plenty of exciting steamy scenes that had me glued to my reader with wide eyes as the suspense held me captive and at times teetering on the edge of my seat feeling the heat, anger, disbelief and daunting emotions that such sick an cruel things not only take place in this story but in real life. I loved the artsy creative side to this story but the worst is the pain and suffering many endured that stuck with me from the start but what a relief to reach the end and feel the weight of the darkness lift with an ending that made it easy to just breath again.

When art major Gwen wants to advance her art scholarship she gets help from a Professor Lane Porter. Does Lane really want to help Gwen or does he want her for something else? This is a dark M/s unique relationship that’s better going in blind. It does start at a slower pace for me as it’s revolves around a certain art technique before you see what’s really happening. An er0tic, BDSM based story within a mystery. Told in dual POV.

What an unusual story! Make Me Scream by Sansa Rayne was based on Art! The artistic style of designing and making each piece unique. Add in murder, suspense and spice and the art comes alive! I had a hard time figuring out who the killer was, it kept me in the dark until the end! Art was referred to in so many different forms. Unusual yet interesting! Enjoyable read!

That went in a direction I really didn’t see coming for quite a while. It was a nice twist to an artistic and intellectual storyline. I’m glad that those who needed closure got it because the not knowing is horrible. Lane and Gwen are interesting characters to say the least. And I loved Joel and Martin!

Wow
Captivating dark, mysterious, dangerous yet engaging storyline based around Mundell's Art Academy.

Lane is one of the teachers at the academy who sees such potential in one of the students. Over time, Lane and Gwen develop a somewhat understanding.

Rush Mundell is the owner of the academy and Gwens teacher. Who has his eye on Gwen and will stop at nothing to control everyone at his academy.

Gwen has a full scholarship and is desperate to succeed. Rush tries to use any means to dictate and control Gwen and her future.

Joel and Martin are wonderful characters, and together, you will be drawn into the crazy depraved twisted tales of the art world.

I loved the beginning of this book. You are pulled into wondering how these girls got to where they were. Who is sick and twisted enough to cage someone and think that is normal?
Gwen has to be one of my favorite females. She is fierce, independent, at ease with her body, and willing to take chances. I admit to being envious of her willingness to try new things.

Without giving anything away, all I can say is Gwen was a bit selfish at times. Although, after finishing the book, everything that annoyed me or I questioned, was made up for in the end. It was finished quite creatively.

Incites a racing pulse from beginning to end
Make Me Scream by Sansa Rayne is titillating, adventurous, evocative, provocative and darkly sensual romance. The first chapter grabs the attention and holds the reader captive in suspense and anticipation. Then another story arc is begun, keeping the reader equally engaged with the introduction of new characters. How they interact leads the reader to wonder how it all fits together. But I appreciate a story that keeps me guessing! For me that's good storytelling.
Ms. Rayne definitely provokes a myriad of emotions, especially through Gwen. She is palpably emotive, especially with men of authority. For the majority of her story, this is truly a struggle and at times that makes things very difficult and confusing for her. Lane begins hiding his emotions and intentions from Gwen well, the exception being his art. However, antagonism prompts him to become more forthright, but it may be too late.
Adding to the provocative feel of these characters and the plots are the settings; art, academia and the big city. For Gwen this is a dream come true and will fight with everything within her to remain in school, in NYC, and experience introspection, inspiration and exploration for her own art. Especially with the support of Lane as her mentor as well as her lover.
The plot itself at times lulls one into a false sense of sensual security as Gwen and Lane begin to explore, learn the necessary lessons - experiences for the sake of art and artistic evolving. There are ups and downs, Gwen questions the path and the suspense continues to build with glimpses of what darkness seems to be waiting in the wings. Truly, the plot thickens as things unfold and direct threats to Gwen's future are made. The darkness threatens and creates the sensations of racing pulses, nail biting and gripping the edge of your seat. At times all at once!
Overall, I was race-reading as fast as my racing pulse as the tension and suspense continued to build. It was established from the beginning, present even as Lane and Gwen became more and more involved until the ultimate tension and suspense crescendo to resolution. While the darkness within the pages is continuously threatening, haunting and hovering, the end is full of light, hope and love.
I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.

Gwen was living her dream going to an Art school in New York with a full scholarship. However, the owner of the Art school really did not care for her art he wanted to see more classical stuff from her.
Lane was a teacher at the Art school that Gwen was attending and even though she did not have any classes with him he knew about her because of her love for the artist Alistair Rat. We he talked about Alistair Rat his opinion was always the same he disliked him very much but Lane was hiding something that he didn’t want anyone to know about.
With a chance meeting at an Art Gallery Lane bumped into Gwen and they started talking. Lane offered her a deal to help with her art. She needed to think about it but when she decided to take him up on his offer she was not expecting what came next. More she learned about Lane the more she was really falling for him. Although he was hiding things from her one major secret. The closer they got the more the head master of the school got angry. He had ideas for Gwen himself. He wanted Gwen for himself and needed to find a way to get to her. As things heat secrets become unraveled.
I will say that this book started out really slow and boring. I almost put the book down a couple of times because I just could not get into the book. The further I got into the book the better it got. I will say if you are not into the art world this might be somewhat of a difficult book to read.

Exceptional ... sexy, dark, mysterious

Sansa Rayne is an amazing author, her dark romances always draw me in, and MAKE ME SCREAM is exceptional. It is mysterious, intriguing, suspenseful, secretive, angst ridden, and absolutely sexy and steamy. Delivered in multiple POVs, MAKE ME SCREAM certainly had me reassessing information Sansa delivered in her own unique style.

Gwen is a first-year student studying Art at the prestigious Mundell Academy. She is a strong woman who has hidden dark desires and needs. Lane is a professor at the Academy, he too has a hidden secret, one that could destroy him. Gwen and Lane meet where they have a discussion about her favourite artist, Alistair Rat, and artist Lane does not like. Lane offers to help mentor Gwen with her art, but it doesn't take long for his mentoring to turn into something darker, salacious, bringing out Gwen's more carnal desire. But there is so much more going on. What are the secrets that are buried inside Mundell Academy?

There is so much going on in this story, my mind was constantly spinning. There are so many twists and turns that had me continually guessing as to where Sansa was taking her story. It was thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining, often leaving me squirming in my seat. It was romantic, sexy, mysterious, and temperature raising. Another MUST READ from Sansa.

Fear! I feel terror and fear as Pet and Toy attempt to escape from their cages. Who is their Master? What will he do when he discovers their plans?

Now I feel confused and intrigued as I meet Gwen, a sassy, independent, talented artistic student attending Mundell Academy on a scholarship. She is drawn to Professor Lane Porter, as is he to her. But, what will they do together? What does he intend to teach her? How will she adjust to his manner of education? OMG!!! This story is HOT, HOT, HOT! Gwen is eager and willing to learn everything the Professor wants to impart to her, and he has a large variety of “special” toys with which to enhance her cooperation and her learning. How stimulating, erotic and alluring can artistic education truly become? Quite a bit, in my opinion!

Unfortunately, my panic returns when “Master” again makes his perversion clear. How will Gwen react to his evil dominance? Will she submit? Will she fight?

I highly recommend this book that began with pain, anxiety, terror and death. It captivated my interest immediately. Shortly thereafter, we meet Gwen and Lane. Now the story is filled with beautiful, sensual dominance that enthralled Gwen and myself. Before the conclusion, we must again face a frightening monster, who cares only for his own satisfaction. WOW! What a crazy ride!!!

“Full-length, white gown. Manacles around her wrists, keeping her arms extended. Head, craned all the way back. I lighten the shading of her upper body, as if to simulate rays of sunlight peeking through a small, barred window. Finally, I draw a key above her head, suspended from a string. In her sight, but out of reach.”

Make Me Scream was delivered in multiple POV. It’s a romantic suspense that had me reevaluating my thoughts on who “Master” was due to the clever delivery. The story is based around an art school, it’s obvious that the author has a sound knowledge of the art industry as it’s reflected through her words. Some very interesting characters with extraordinary stories to tell. The students admire their teachers and have a thirst to learn from the best, whilst hoping they’ll get the chance to show their pieces off and make a living. It’s taboo for teachers and students to conduct themselves as anything that may bring the school into disrepute. However, manipulation of the rules seems to of been a recurring thing at this school.

This book is described as a Dark Romance” and that is an appropriate description. It is certainly a romance – Gwen, a scholarship art student at a prestigious art school in New York falls in love with Lane, one of the professors and an idol of hers who is hiding a secret about another art persona that he has occasionally used to shock people. It is also dark – because the wealthy owner of the school, Rush Mundell, is hiding secrets that involve kidnapping and imprisonment of some female students. There is bad blood between Lane and Rush, violence and problems – as well as the artistic success of Gwen’s gay room-mate Joel, and the development of the love between Lane and Gwen, despite many problems. It is a really enjoyable story – interesting on many levels, with romance, sex, mystery and violence – and the main characters are intelligent and likable. Turning the Art World on its Head!!

We meet two young ladies who have been made captive - it has been years.

We follow students and teachers at a prestigious art school. The head of the school is a traditionalist. He is not interested in his students branching out into new art forms; such as graphic novels. There is also debate about a mysterious artist who creates street art to cause an emotion.

An art teacher takes an interest in student Gwen. Gwen is on scholarship and must toe-the-line to stay at the school.

Suddenly our story lines cross and the level of deceit and danger is a real thing. A gripping story of power, control and relationships. Is dark and gritty, so be prepared. A unique and intriguing read.

Gwen finally got her dream, at the college she always wanted to doing art.
Meeting Lane something about him stirs something in her but she finds out, he has a strong dislike for the one artist that has always inspired her. Lane agrees to help her with her art, art that Rush the owner of Mundell tells her she can’t do, or she’ll lose her scholarship. Lane brings out something she never knew she needed, giving up control.
Lane is concerned that Rush will try to manipulate Gwen like he has previous girls and offers Gwen a way to continue studying just not at Mundell Academy. Mundell was Gwen’s dream, and she doesn’t want to give it up.
The more Gwen learns the more she knows there’s more to what goes on between Lane and Rush. There are the missing students, gone without a trace. Can Gwen work it out or will she get caught in the trap and who can she really trust.

She can’t stand him and refuses to take his classes. But, there are nefarious and frightening things occurring at this school…and she finds herself right in the center of it all…..but, who can she trust??

Loved the story line!! Loved the twists, turns, and deadly shocks…that start immediately!!! Fabulous read!!

I enjoyed Gwen’s strength of character and her determination to stay true to her art; to not allow others to silence her artistic voice, or to smother her creativity. I also enjoyed how she flourished under Lane’s private tutelage – experiencing a wide range of emotions and new, sexual cravings. Will learning of Lane’s history of past involvement with his female students be a red flag for Gwen? Time will tell if her trust in him has been misguided.

I really enjoyed this intriguing, dark and suspenseful age-gap romance. There are secrets and deceptions, plus plenty of drama & angst along with several steamy, explicit encounters featuring elements of BDSM.

Absolutely fantastic!!

Suffering for your art has a whole new meaning in this absolutely fantastic dark romance. Gwen has always admired the artist Alistair Rat for his unique style. Ever since starting at Mundell Academy she has made sure to stay away from any of Professor Lane Porter's classes because he makes it known how much he dislikes Alistair Rat's artwork. When she finally gives Lane a chance to help her develop her art, things heat up pretty quickly between them. Lane has secrets and it seems his ex-girlfriends tend to disappear or die. Will Gwen be next? Make Me Scream is an intense, captivating, and absolutely fantastic dark romance that is a definite must read!!!

A Toy, a Pet, a Master

A taboo age-gap, dark romance novel highlighting artistic views and sections towards pain, pleasure, submission, and dominance ⛓️

Gwen, an art student with a deep, dark, delicious desire to explore her provocative thoughts, dreams, and desires. Turning towards Lane, a professor at the art academy, to become his protégé.

The more that is read, tiny snippets of truths start blending together, piecing the who, why, how 🤔 like a 🧩

A deadly artist 🎨, a monster, hiding, lurking, secreting away muses 🎭 to become his pet or his toy. "The things men will do to compete with one another..."

Author writes raw and gritty dark romance. Once again sucking me into the trails of deceit, lies, and taboo 💋

If you have read any of Ms Rayne’s books you will know exactly the roller coaster ride that awaits you. This book was truly amazing and the story was so captivating it will have you holding your breath but also it will infiltrate your every thought. Ms Rayne can write some dark and steamy books but I feel that this one was even more twisted than her previous books and when you add art and murder it is very mind blowing. Suspenseful, steamy and an amazing story and you’ve got a winner!!! Hope to read more about Lane/Rat and Gwen in the future.

Lane is an art teacher and Gwen is a student when a forbidden affair starts to takes place and this is when something sinister lurks and it wants Gwen. When Lane makes Gwen his muse, let me say their chemistry is off the charts. During this time Gwen would like nothing more than to embrace Lane's dark side, the only problem is his muses are disappearing.

In closing, there is a BDSM theme and a dark side to this book, but it also ends in a HEA. So, if you would like a little dark with your spice then this is the book for you!

I have absolutely love Sansa Rayne for awhile. I love her books because they always have a dark element to them. Gwen is a strong and sassy woman and I really loved her character. I found this book very intriguing and it kept me on my toe. There is a lot going on in this very compelling story and I felt like I had to keep reading to find out what would happen next. The main characters were my favorite, but all the the character in my opinion were fantastic in their own way. Such an exciting experience to read this book.

This book begins with two girls held captive and when they try to escape, something tragic happens.
We are left wondering who are these girls and who is their captor. We then jump to Gwen's story. Lane challenges Gwen. She wants to learn from him so she puts all her trust in him. The chemistry between these two is undeniable and charismatic. I admit I was thinking of a different perpetrator at first but was blown away when the plot was revealed. The suspense and the art experimentation kept me entertained from page 1.

this one was good read right till the end, and then I just had to flow the other 4 pages fast cause it got silly ,and I got bored just wanted to finish that's why I gave it a 3 stars instead of 5, and I thought it was good up to that point that's why I didn't give it a 2 or 1 the sex sense was hot the characters was good they worked well with each other the story line was even good but, it seemed that the author just wanted to get the ending over with and rushed it but, I will read another book from this author and hope that it will have a more stronger ending.

Sansa Rayne has written a story that is so profound and gut wrenching. These characters were so well developed and portrayed, their personalities and nature were sincere and realistic.
That opening hook grabbed me from the very beginning. We were tossed into a story that clutched our heart and we could not back away, we had to keep going to find out what happened next.
Gwen and Lane, both artists, with Lane being the professor at Mundell, connected immediately over their opposite opinions of an infamous artist, only to have those feelings and attachment grow and blossom as the story progressed.
In her true style and words Sansa Rayne has given us a book with plenty of mystery, a huge amount of darkness, as well as some very sensual moments.
