Rate this book
Ellen, a twenty-five-year-old wife has a mysterious past. Not even her husband knows what her secrets are, but he’s about to find out. Paul comes home to find his wife is gone. Immediately had me hooked and I could not put it down!
I just decided to try this author out on a whim after seeing her promo and I’m so glad I did. Thrilling, engaging and thought provoking, I definitely look forward to reading her other works!!
Friendly Critics from a new fan:
So my biggest issue was that I really would have liked a little more description on what some of the characters looked like so I could picture everything better because Paul sounds kinda dreamy ya know? lol and I feel like some of the characters relationships were kind of glossed over (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you’re trying to keep the book short and sweet) I just found myself wanting a little more in that sense cuz like Cassie for example I feel like I never got the chance to know her and why Mark (the detective? I’m sorry I get confused on names easy) worshiped her so much ya know? But on the other hand I thought the character development was absolutely top notch I loved that I felt myself growing more fond of each character the more time you spent on them especially what you did from beginning to end with the detective I love when I start out disliking a character and the author flips me around like that. But girl I loved this book fr! I hope you don’t take this the wrong way but I think you’re my new pallet cleanser. You’re giving what I’m always wanting but not quite getting from Noelle Ihli ( she’s one of my favorites) wrapped up in a nice little bow. Not to wordy but long enough to give me everything I was looking for. It was sooo refreshing ❤️

I had a hard time with the first two chapters. It seemed to be very informative at first and not very personal. The story evolves and it is hard to put down. Reflecting, I understand the writing style used in the beginning. There was little character development for Joanna and it makes sense after the story unfolds. Still it was hard connecting to a character I had no emotion towards. She was a big question mark on purpose. Honestly, I look forward to reading more of this author’s work.

DNF

This is one of a very few books I’ve not finished.

The first reason for the 2 star rating is not the author’s fault but I despise books told in the first person, I find that writing style undesirable.

The second reason is the completely ridiculous and unrealistic relationship between Paul and Ellen. I found every bit of this story unfathomable. I did not believe one second of it.

Before posting this review I was shocked and astounded by the positive reviews, did we read the same book? I’m about 30% in and for the life of me can’t imagine it getting better.

Spoilers

I did not finish but unless Ellen is actually the murderer I could not find a redeeming quality in this story. My guess is that her police officer step-father did it.

This book was so boring. Literally everything was spelled out for you, no twists, nothing shocking, and just so much filler.
