One look in a criminal’s eyes and she witnesses their crimes.
Grace McKenna is not your average police officer.
She is haunted by the unsettling images she sees when she locks eyes with a criminal, her vision flooded with clues that force her to solve cases on her own.
In the prequel of the series, Grace is new to the Bridgeton Police Department, tackling her earliest days on the force. Long before she became a detective and before she was privy to Bridgeton's town secrets, Grace was adapting to life as a cop with a somewhat disturbing gift.
While working on a detail at a Halloween event, Grace is pulled into a maze of secrets that are revealed when she catches the gaze of a criminal wearing a Batman mask. As if it wasn't hard enough to track down the menaces that roam the streets of Bridgeton, Grace has her work cut out for her in this rapid read that sets the stage for the cases in the rest of the series.
Hidden Faces, tells the story of Grace as she encounters her unlikeliest criminal of all time.

Kaylee shot him to save her sister from further sexual abuse. Yes Grace became the new SRO, but we're left wondering if she provided any therapy for both girls. This Grace had the ability to look into the culprit's eyes, window to the soul, and did not need to shake their hand.Hmmm, novella for story's spin off!?! A Quick Interesting Read!
3.5 I love the McKenna Mystery series and have loved following Grace as she goes through different challenges and phases of life. It was a treat to get a glimpse of the early days in the department and see how relationships were formed and duties were assigned, but I was left with wanting more! I wish this had another 50 pages just to give a little more background.
This prequel introduces us to Grace & shows us how Grace got on the Bridgeton Police Department, became the newest School Resource Officers AND most importantly meets future significant other Mark Connelly.
So being I have read several books that came after this one, it was a good start. A story that is sad for the characters. I don't know much more to say without giving away spoilers. So with that note, Happy Reading.
