Last night, I met the funniest, sexiest single dad on the planet.
I also managed to get into the kind of co-ed naked trouble with him that involved a nurse, a shotgun, a feral turkey, and a pair of pliers. But all's well that ends well, and we already have plans to meet up again.
It's early days, but I'm already thinking Drew might be The One.
Then I show up to my new nanny gig and who steps out on the front porch, holding the cutest little redhead in the world?
Yep, that's right. Drew is Andrew McGuire, my new boss, and he's not about to date the nanny. His daughter's happiness and stability are his top priority.
Considering I just fell in love with this precious, motherless girl at first sight, I would be inclined to agree with him. If it weren't for one thing—my heart already has a Drew-shaped hole in it.
I'm pretty sure I would miss him, even if we'd never met.
But how to convince this amazing man that his heart—and his family—are safe with me? And that he should be my boss with benefits? Forever.
Welcome to Bad Dog where the men are incredible, the animals are ridiculous, and the happy ever afters are super emotional and steamy! Boss Without Benefits is a standalone romance with spice!

Drew & Tatum meet at a bar and the attraction is instant, so they whomp it up. The next morning Tatum starts her new job as a nanny and guess who the father of the little girl is, yup, Drew.
Drew knows he has to put his daughter first and his feelings for Tatum aside, so he tells her nothing more can happen between them. He can't stop thinking about her, though, so you can probably guess how this one will go.
A great father, a great child and a great nanny made it a great read/listen.
Got this one on Hoopla and it looks like the next 2 books are there as well, so I look forward to hearing what the other brothers have to offer.
wowwww, tbh i didn’t except this book to be THAT good. i loved our main characters and ofc i loved Sara (Sarah??) Beth!! (his 5 yr old daughter..) AND WE LOVE A SINGLE DAD TROPE😍!!
although this cover throws me off, i’ve gotten a little used to it 😞
I'd say it's like a 3.5/5🌶 just in case anyones wondering! that rating could be different for someone else though so take it with a grain of salt 💔
and the book is fairly short!! a 5 hour audiobook and about 255 pages depending on which edition you pick! idk about you guys but these days I've been reading these long books (400-500 pages) so this was such a cute cleanser! kindaaa wish it was like just 50 pages longer! but wtv, like i said it was an adorable cleanse!! And I'm so excited to read the rest of this series! (except the third book is literally about brother/sister in laws 😃, no qualms.. it's just not what I reach for. anyway the ending was really cute 🙁💛
always the person who starts new books and never the person who finishs books waiting for me 💔😞
"I pull out on the street, leaving my favorite girl with the incredible woman who could never be mine." (4.5/5)⭐️🍺
This is the Lili Valente I love the most. A small-town setting with quirks and charms, colorful characters, and outrageous animals, and a sweet, funny romance with all the feels. It's quintessential LV and romantic comedy at its finest. And it makes my romantic heart immensely happy that this is the beginning of a new series. Yep, you heard it here. More McGuire brothers to come!
A chance meeting at a bar leads to one steamy night that both Drew and Tatum would like to become more. That is, until Tatum shows up for her new nanny job for, you guessed it, Drew's daughter, four-year-old Sarah Beth. As a single dad, his daughter is Drew’s number one priority. Sara Beth doesn’t warm up to strangers, but she takes to Tatum immediately, and there's no way Drew will do anything to interfere with that relationship. It's relegation to the friend zone for Drew and Tatum.
Oh my heart y'all, I adore everything about this one! I love how the town people of Old Dog quickly accept Tatum and make her one of them, and her sweet, funny, amazing relationship with Sara Beth is one for the books. Then we have Drew's grumpy brother, Barrett, and his office nurse, Wren, and the psychotic wild turkey she has to tend with.
Quirky, charming and colorful, this town and its people come alive and make me want to live there. I’m not sure when I’ve been this excited for a rom-com series, and one that starts with such a phenomenal bang, so run to the 1-Click and grab this one ASAP. You’ll want to be ready for Barrett and Wren and what promises to be a very rocky, equally hilarious romance!
The O'Learys have a horrible reputation in town, they always seem to be the brunt of the joke. Realizing she'll never get anywhere, Tatum has had enough and decides to give Bad Dog, Minnesota a chance. She got a job as a Nanny and is excited to begin her life in town where no one knows who she is or where she came from.
Her first night in town she meets and hooks up with a gorgeous single dad at a bar. She can see her future life with him in it.
Andrew was at a bar when he saw this beautiful woman that he knew he must have. He spends an amazing night with her.
He enjoyed his night with her and she enjoyed hers with him, so they can have a relationship, right? Of course not, the O'Leary karma is at work again and when she shows up at work as a Nanny, who should be her boss? None other than Andrew.
Andrew will not have a relationship with her and boy is this going to be hard to have her around all the time. Can he stick to his decision of no relationship or is their chemistry so strong that he'll give in?
I loved this story so much! Great characters! I look forward to reading Book 2!
It was super cute and very insta-love, I'd say even a little Hallmark-ish with the small-town setting, magical moments, and unreal but ridiculous situations the people of Bad Dog found themselves in.
Tatum comes from a small town and a big family. The outcast family of their town so she's really excited about finding a nanny position far away from her hometown and starting over. On her first night in Bad Dog she manages to land herself the hottest guy around in her bed. But it's not only about that, there's a connection and they're both looking for a second date even if their first end with a medical emergency involving piercings in intimate places. That plan goes to hell on her first workday though, when her hot date turns out to be her new employer. She could easily find another job, but too bad - or not -, she falls in love with Sarah Beth just as fast as she's fallen for her dad.
It was a great start to this series, 3 stars for now because I think I might like the next books even more.
I loved so much about this book, the first night together is one of the best things I’ve read in a while and after meeting Wren like that I cannot wait for her book. Tatum and Drew meet in a bar soon after Tatum moves to town, have a hot hookup that goes so wrong, and then find out the next morning that Tatum is the nanny Drew just hired to watch his daughter.
As with most single dad books, Drew is terrified to introduce Tatum as his girlfriend and then not work out so he and Tatum decide to break things off and not let it go any further. However, with the amount of time they are spending together and the chemistry between them, it gets harder to stick with the original plan.
Kyle had me cracking up so many times during the book, this book was just downright funny in so many ways that I cannot wait to keep reading this series!
This is the first of the series and if you've been paying attention to my reviews...yup...I read them out of order. It in no way hindered my love for this series. There is a lot of overlap with all the characters as they're brothers, so getting to see them in later books didn't ruin the how they got togetherness (for me). It just amplified my want to go back and see how it all started. I started with the enemies to lovers story in the series and fell in love with everyone else that I just put all the holds on Libby and read them as they became available. I'm sure reading in order would've been great, but I still very much enjoyed it.
Tatum comes from a crazy family. She up and moves to a whole new city for a fresh start and has a wonderful one-night stand with Drew. She shows up for work the next day as a nanny and none other than Drew opens the door to greet her. Ruh-Oh.
Drew tries so very hard to be the best dad possible. Putting Sarah Beth's (who is the sweetest, kindest, most amazing little girl ever) interest before his. Tatum and Sarah Beth click right away so Drew puts the kibosh on anything that could possible happen with Tatum. They both try and try and try and we all know how this ends.
The animal in this one isn't so much a pet as in the others, but it's a Wild Turkey that's giving Tatum's new BFF Wren trouble at her house. It's hilarious and heartwarming and sets up Barrett (Drew's doctor brother) and Wren's (Barrett's head nurse) story perfectly.
In true Lili Valente fashion there's heart and quirk and banter and swoon. Robert Hatchet and Lili Valente brought these characters to life in a way that's just a joy to listen to.
-One night stand -Boss/Employee -Single Dad x Nanny -Slow Burn
I didn't mean to read the whole book in one setting! But when the story has a perfect single dad, an adorbs kid, and a nanny who rivals my beloved Mary Poppins...what else could I do but gobble it up! The audio makes the book even more perfect, with Lili & Robert being my new fave narrator couple to ship. #Lilibert forever!!
What a fun story. Kyle was a scream. He stole the show! But I am getting ahead of things. That meet-cute! Outrageous! Laugh out loud fun. Sara Beth is one lucky little girl. The McGuire brothers! Well I need to go read the next book.
I think I came up with a new subgenera just for my personal categorization: the fun, LOL, Hallmark-y, steamy rom com and this story is definitely one of those!
Tatum has just moved to the small town of Bad Dog for her new job (and to escape the "loser" label that has been slapped on her her family for generations back home and from which no one seems to be able to escape from, no matter what they do). She meets Drew, who she thinks is one of the fishermen who seem to be regulars at the bar where she is having a drink. Sparks fly, they're insanely attracted to each other and their one night stand develops into the funniest meet cutes I have read in ages! They realize they're stuck to each other (IYKYK) and they will definitely pursue a relationship... until she shows up at his doorstep the next Monday and she is the nanny he hired. Crap...
This is a short, low angst, laugh out loud audiobook and if you are in the mood for fun, that's it, you've found it. I'm also highly invested in Barret and Wren now too!
Narration: You get all the goodness here when it comes to narration. Lili narrating her own words and she's amazing and, oh sweet baby Jay Zoos, Mr Robert Hatchet...you sure know how to tell a story, my man. Oooof! Swoony, funny, dirty, cute... all there.
Oh my!! I loved this book!! Boss without Benefits is side hurting kind of funny. I needed this story! My cheeks were hurting from all of the smiles and I fell for these characters hard. Lili has a way with her writing that will sucker her readers into the story and have them saying late into the night 'Just one More Chapter'!
Book friends! The hero is easy to love and swoon over. He loves his kid and your heart will melt over it! Our loveable heroine is witty! The chemistry with these two are off the charts, but there are a few twists and turns.
Boss Without Benefits is a book I whole heartily recommend! You will have the laughters and hearts in the eyes moments. The romance heat level is a slow simmer to a boil. I loved this story and look forward to this series!!
Boss without Benefits is the first book in the The McGuire Brothers series by Lili Valente. This is a fun, sexy, sweet, and funny start to a new series and I can’t wait for the rest of it. The first brother up is Andrew McGuire and the new nanny.
Tatum is starting her fresh new life in Bad Dog, Minnesota. A new job, her own place, and not having anyone know her is refreshing after her hometown cast her family as outcasts. She has a two nights in town before starting her new job as a nanny for a single dad. She wants to let loose and have some fun. Yes, she was hoping to have a one-night stand with a sexy ice fisherman, what she didn’t expect was him. A sexy man who loves playing cards and pinball. A man who rocks her world who doesn’t want it to end. A second date is set until…
She walks up to the porch of her new job and sees him standing there with a cute little girl in his arms. They agree that they can’t move forward with anything more than boss and employee. His adorable daughter Sarah Beth needs her, it was love at first sight when it came to Tatum. Drew won’t jeopardize that even if he wants Tatum like no other woman before. But, is it realistic to have her in the home five days a week, loving his daughter, making him happy and alive without wanting more than a professional relationship?
Oh, these two are in so much trouble and I loved it! They made me laugh so hard I was in tears. I also cried from their sweetness. Sarah Beth also has my heart. All of them do. This series is going to be soooo good and I am excited about Barrett and Wren’s story.
Quotes:
“I’d love to come watch a movie and explore your wide variety of pretzels. I have a thong for pretzels…and sexy redheads.”
“I can already tell it’s going to be really hard to get enough of you.”
“You’re the sweetest bad boy with a cock piercing I’ve ever met.”

Boss without Benefits by Lili Valente was a laugh-out-loud, single-dad romance that left me feeling deliciously happy! The small town of Bad Dog is such an intriguing entertaining place, with witty, memorable characters. Tatum and Drew have quite the spicy and unfortunate meet cute that ends in a crazy awkward situation! The connection between these is undeniable from the start, but when Tatum finds out Drew is her new boss, they agree to keep it professional. Sarah Beth, Drew’s four-year-old daughter, was such an adorable addition to this story, which made me love Drew and Tatum as a couple even more.
If you are in the mood light, hilarious low angst rom-com in a small town with all the gossip, then you will love this book! Plus, Barrett and Wren were so much fun, and I can’t wait to find out how their love story plays out next! I always look forward to more from Lili Valente!

**Audio Review** Lili Valente and Robert Hatchet narrate this audiobook and both bring the HEAT, heart, and fun as Tatum and Drew. Lili conveys Tatum's loving and dedicated persona perfectly as she strives to be the best nanny she as be to Sarah Beth and give her love to Drew. Robert's performance of Drew was downright dreamy. I loved how well he showcased Drew's charismatic, fun-loving, and devoted daddy persona! Both narrators showcased Drew and Tatum's intsta hot chemistry from start to finish!
I loved that Tatum and Drew immediately had such a strong connection with each other right from the start, plus how perfect she was with Sara Beth. This was the perfect quick read because included all the elements I love. It has humor, swoony romance, spicy bits that are not only hot but fun, and it's low on angst. I am ready for more McGuire brothers!

This was the perfect quick read because included all the elements I love. It has humor, swoony romance, spicy bits that are not only hot but fun, and it's low on angst. I am ready for more McGuire brothers! Not only did I read the book, I also listened to the audiobook, which is absolutely NOT to be missed! Both Lili Valente and Robert Hatchet did amazing job with the characters. I listened to this twice!!
I loved this book! Tatum and Drew are perfect for each other even if it takes most of the book for them to accept it. When Tatum moves to Bad Dog, Minnesota for a nanny job she’s hoping to fit in and love her new, little charge. What she is not expecting is to meet her future employer, and have a spontaneous one night stand. And as much as these two try to keep it professional and keep their distance from each other, it is next to impossible to deny their true feelings.
I’ve read plenty of Lilli Valente books but if I didn’t know any better I’d swear Boss Without Benefits was written by one of her pals Pippa Grant or Lucy Score. I mean our heroine Margaret Tatum O’Leary was raised in a town named Fairshot Kentucky and moves to a town named Bad Dog Minnesota. She comes from a long line of quirky, unconventional family members whom everyone in her hometown believes is strange as in crazy. Which is why she moves to Bad Dog to get a fresh start. The apartment she rents in Bad Dog is above a restaurant named Bad Taco. See what I mean? This has Pippa Grant or Lucy Score written all over it. But it is Lilli Valente. This may be one of the shortest reviews I’ve ever written because the blurb gives so much of the book away there isn’t much I can say without regurgitating the entire story. Margaret (who prefers to be called by her middle name Tatum) is tired of being defined by the negative preconceptions everyone in Fairshot Kentucky has of her family. None of her family ever gets a fair chance at career advancement. Any time something unusual happens “it must have been one of those crazy O’Learys.” So she accepts a job in Bad Dog Minnesota to be the fulltime nanny to four year old Sarah Beth McGuire whose father Andrew McGuire is a single dad. She’s hoping for a fresh start in a town where nobody knows her family’s story. The night she arrives in town she goes out to a local bar hoping to get lucky as part of her fresh start because its been two years since she broke up with her cheating boyfriend and hasn’t’ gotten laid since. She’s nursing a dirty martini when she spies an extremely handsome man Drew, sitting at a table at the other end of the bar playing solitaire. She moves closer to him. They strike up a conversation, play so Go Fish and a crazy pinball game and flirt a lot. They really click. Tatum invites him back to her apartment for pretzels and a movie. I guess that what kids are calling it these days. The hours of flirting at the bar serve as foreplay to the best sex either has ever had even though body piercings cause an embarrassing situation to occur that again would be right at home in a Grant or Score book. Embarrassing situation aside these two really hit it off beyond their sexual chemistry. Both want to see more of each other. Drew asks Tatum to dinner later in the week. But then when Tatum shows up for her first day on the job and meets her new boss Andrew coming out his front door with Sarah Beth she immediately recognizes him as the dream guy she took home the night before. Drew is Andrew and Margaret is Tatum. Andrew reluctantly informs Tatum that if she’s going to work for him as Sarah Beth’s nanny there is no way they can date. He can’t risk their personal relationship effecting Sarah Beth if things don’t work out. And Sarah Beth is charmed with Tatum from almost the minute they meet. And the affection is mutual for Tatum for the red headed little girl who looks so much like her she could be her own daughter. The rest of this story is the three of them forming a family while Drew and Tatum try to fight the attraction they have for one another. Oh, and did I mention there’s Kyle an attack turkey in this story who keeps attacking Tatum’s new found friend and Drew’s brother Barton’s (an OB-GYN doctor’s) head nurse (the couple in the next book) every time she leaves or comes home. Now who else puts crazy animals in their stories? And then there’s the group of gay bikers. This is just a very sweet very low angst story about two people and a very sweet little girl who are meant to be together fumbling their way to a happily ever after. There’s plenty of happy feels, some explicitly steamy scenes and plenty of laughs.
This was a very nice stumble after going through my Kindle Unlimited options. I don’t know what compelled me, but there was this list I was curious about that recommended this series. Based on the title and cover, I was drawn to it. I hadn’t even read what the book was about, I just had a feeling it would be the type of book I would go for and I was right. There was no emotional damage to Drew and Tatum that turned them away from love. Any relationship they had in the past they were over and moved on. This was to the point, straightforward and simple. It had a very upbeat, flirty vibe to it and was a definite feel good story. Both Tatum and Drew started off having a one night stand and wanting to start a relationship with each other. The brakes get pulled on that possibility once Drew found out Tatum would be his new nanny. Gone is the flirty parts of Drew and sexual innuendos with his leap of faith. Instead we are left reading about this ongoing need and want between both Tatum and Drew because Drew was unwilling to have a relationship with her and to also have her on as Sarah’s nanny. He couldn’t bring himself to have both parts of her. Throughout the book, I had to go through the anguish building inside Tatum and Drew. Tatum respected his wishes and kept everything professional but it was tough for her because she was willing to separate the two and Drew didn’t even want to attempt it, he just hid his feelings for her and ignored them. My frustration with this part of the book is what made me give it a 4. While the story was carefree, enjoyable and light, it lacked the sexual intensity and encounters that make my blood boil with anticipation and need. I was basically reading a story about how to tamp down desire and ignore feelings. It wasn’t quite a slow burn but it felt like one making me wonder if all the books in this series will do this. The author pulls you into the start of a relationship, only to snatch it away from you and be like, “just kidding!” It’s a horrible tease and I don’t know how I feel about it. I didn’t dislike it, but I didn’t like it either, hence you get a 4 rating from me. I have a feeling this will be the vibe for the series but yet, I am looking forward to them.
Drew and his huge family have lived in Bad Dog for generations. He's a single dad with the sweetest 4 year old daughter, Sarah Beth. He's having a hard time finding a nanny that she actually likes. But he thinks he finally found one and she starts on Monday. Here's to hoping this one works out.
Tatum is new in town, trying to start a new life. She's part of a large Irish family that is known for its quirks. Without any chance to get anywhere in her hometown she moves to Bad Dog for a new job as a nanny. She's excited for the new beginning.
So its Friday night in the new town, and Tatum heads to a local bar for a drink. After sitting at the bar with her drink in hand, she looks at the other end of the bar and sees the most gorgeous man she's ever seen, and he's alone. When she moves to sit down beside him she thinks he's even more handsome up close. So let the fun begin.
Drew is now next to a gorgeous redhead he can't stop looking at. She seems sweet and very easy to talk to, and he is entranced. Then shocked when invited him to her place. Things quickly become an inferno between them. Also the strangest and most embarrassing for both. When the night comes to an end, they both look forward to seeing each other.
On Monday, both are surprised to see each other so soon and when Drew actually realizes that Tatum is Sarah Beth's new nanny he knows he can't work with her plus date her. And when Sarah Beth takes to Tatum immediately, he knows he has to stop anything personal with her. He's doing this for his daughter.
This is so good! I love Sarah Beth so much. She's sweet, funny, and oh so smart! Drew's family is a hoot, and the other town people make for a funny story. Need more soon!! Enjoy
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW Boss Without Benefits (The McGuire Brothers bk1) is my first Lili Valenti story, but not my last! This single dad, nanny, one-night stand, small town rom-com made me laugh out loud and caused butterflies in my belly and other body parts. I adored Tatum and Drew from the start, their connection was undeniable, and as the story progressed, this only became clearer. Drew is so sweet and swoony, he made my knees weak. Tatum is such a quirky, loving character who knows who she is and what she wants
Sarah Beth was the sweetest little girl, but what I loved the most was how realistic she got portrayed. Children aren't perfect, and Lili Valenti understood that perfectly. I also loved the connection between Sarah Beth and Tatum.
The audiobook narration by Lili Valenti and Robert Hatchet was sublime. Robert Hatchet perfectly showed Drew's charismatic personality and devotion to his daughter. I enjoyed how Lili Valenti portrayed Tatum's loving personality. This couple had plenty of chemistry, which was audible every minute of the narration. Their voices matched perfectly, and their narration added to the story.
Boss Without Benefits is a steamy, sweet rom-com that's low on angst and high on humor. If you want a story that makes you happy, this is for you!
WHY LISTEN TO BOSS WITHOUT BENEFITS Nanny romance Single parent One-night stand Small town Swoony hero Heroine that is competition for Mary Poppins Sweet little girl that is portrayed realistically Hilarious Pierced Hero & heroine Crazy turkey who hates women First in a series Great narration Lenth: 5H25MIN
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
This is the beginning of a new series and we are back in Mad Dog with new characters, new animals that cause havoc and the authors brilliant sense of humour and character building.
Drew is a single father to a little girl and before he actually meets his new nanny, he is on a much needed and very far between night out where he meets Tatum. There is an instant spark and both decide to have a night of fun, which leads to the pair caught up in more ways than one, especially when they have to call someone to untangle them.
With plans to meet each other again they both start the new day with high spirits that instantly take a nose dive when Tatum turns out to be the new nanny and his daughter takes an instant liking to her.
Tatum is a lovable soul and make new friends in her new town very quickly, is a fierce defender of her new charge and makes an impact on the people she meets. Both have a good sense of humour, but it takes most of the book to realise that they have something completely special that that they cannot let anything get in the way of that. Drew takes a leap of faith and Tatum cannot help but respond positively.
I really loved this book and we got to meet Wren and Barrett who are going to be the focus of the next book. I really hope that most if not all of Drews brothers get a book as i cannot wait to see what high-jinx and naughty animals get shoved together mixed up and find their person.
Boss Without Benefits is the newest, laugh out loud, swoony, sexy romance from Lili Valente. I have read every word Lili's has ever written and I just love them all! This one just seemed to get to me extra fierce! I was hooked from the very beginning and I didn't want it to end. I laughed until I cried and cried tears of joy and sadness! Tatum is one of my favorite heroines of Lili. She's independent, quirky, knows who she is and isn't afraid to go after what she wants! Drew is a sexy, lovable hero who's the perfect match for Tatum. They have an instant connection from their first words to each other and their chemistry is off the charts. Once Drew finds out Tatum is his new nanny, he cancels their next date and says they can't be more. But it's harder than he thinks. He loves the way she is with his daughter and he can't stop thinking about her. Is he making a mistake by not begging her to give him a chance? Tatum understands Drew's reasons for wanting to keep things platonic, she just doesn't agree! Will they both realize they might be getting The One get away before it's too late? Oh my word! This book was just so fantastic! I laughed, cried, cheered for them and laughed some more. Sometimes a book comes into your life and gives you all the feels JUST when you need them. This was that book for me!!
