Kim MacLean was inspired to be creative while she and her little girls made their own fun inside their home on long, cold winter days. Her girls sat for hours painting and gluing crafts into works of art on paper. Oh, the rows and rows of finished masterpieces drying on the floor while Kim sat and wrote! And there were the hundreds of books that they read and enjoyed together that further inspired creativity and an adult love of children's books!

I received this book from Goddess Fish Promotions in exchange of an honest review.

In this delightful book we meet a little boy who really wants to keep his room clean.. but his stuff and clothes just doesn’t want to stay still. I just loved the sound of this book and I had even more fun reading this adorable and hilarious book. This kid sure got a fantastic imagination! When his mom asks him why his room isn’t clean after she asked him (countless times again and again) he has the most wonderful stories to tell her, because he certainly has IDEAS on what may have happened. Of course, he has never seen it happen, but given the situation and how things are it must be that. I loved seeing what fantastic tales he had to tell to his mom. From the socks who like the hide and seek to pants just wanting to run around on the ceiling to toys just doing their own things. The kid certainly got some fantastic imagination and I enjoyed every bit of it and I laughed so much at seeing all the clothes and stuff do their own things, like that underwear on the teddy bear. Or the Legos everywhere! Or how the shirts just want to do a little stretch!

I loved that the kid, despite these fantastical stories (are they real or is it all his imagination), still cleans up without much of a huff or a puff. A lot of other kids would solely believe their tales and then huff and puff to tell their parents that they just CANNOT clean up for life. But this kid just cleans up despite knowing that during playtime BOOM there will be a mess again. I loved that. And I also liked that the mom has such patience with her boy. I am not sure if I would be the same if I had kids, haha. I would enjoy the stories, but I would also tell them to just be a bit less chaotic when playing. XD

The art was a lot of fun, I love the details in the room, so many things to do see in this chaos. Plus, I love the character designs and the facial expressions!

All in all, a delightful fun book that made me laugh so much! What do you think, is the boy imagining it all or is there a bit of truth in his tales? It is up to the reader! I would recommend this one to all, this will be a delight for little ones! I can remember my room being chaos so I can relate to the boy, though I had no fantastical stories to tell. XD

I was granted complimentary access to Playtime Clothes as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with Goddess Fish Promotions. Thank you to all involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.

Playtime Clothes is a beautifully illustrated short children's story about a little boy and his wild excuses for why his clothes are all over his room. He tells his mother about the games his socks, pants, and other articles are playing and claims they have a mind of their own, all while the brightly coloured illustrations give a hint that perhaps they do. How fun!

I can definitely see this story being a favourite for many, especially in families with creative and messy kids. It reminds me of Jillian Jiggs, but written for a younger/earlier reading audience.

Fun, light-hearted, and so, so relatable!

Playtime Clothes by Kim MacLean is a fun and light-hearted new children’s picture book that looks at what was an everyday occurrence at this boys’ mom’s house – the utter chaos of a boy’s room! With vivid and colorful pictures that look amazingly like my eldest child (poor kid), I laughed, sympathized, and remembered this same situational explosion and similar ‘explanatory’ tales.

Author MacLean lightens the chaotic mess with a rhyming narrative that will make parents and children alike smile. I recommend PLAYTIME CLOTHES for anyone with the care of small children. Anyone.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving an Advanced Review Copy from the author through Goddess Fish Promotions Book Tours.

A life of it's own

I won this book adms a giveaway winner on Goodreads. This book is a story teller and I'm a mother so I can 100% relate to the mom in this story. Cleaning up a messy room is a chore and we all think things grow legs and walk away from time to time, especially when you can't find something you need right away. This story shares a cute tale as to HOW a child's room gets messy. It's pure imagination but one that we can all relate to. This quick read has great illustration and some rhymes and is good for kids to understand. Might help remind them to clean their room 🙂

A fun story. How does your child's room get so messy. Here was one explanation. I found it cute and entertaining, and the illustrations captured the messiness as well as the cleanliness.

I received a copy through Goddess Fish Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
