The Vancouver Agitators #3

Right Man, Right Time

Rate this book
Listening Length : 12 hours and 39 minutes

Running into your ex is never ideal.

Running into your ex who is now dating your nemesis is a literal nightmare.

That’s how I found myself in a sheer panic, reaching for the closest guy at the bar and kissing him. And to my delight he was easily the most attractive man I’ve ever seen.

The only problem is, when I tried to walk away after thanking him for his help, he stopped me with three life-changing words....

“You owe me.”

That’s how I found myself, a college girl, in a fake relationship with a professional hockey player ten years older than me.

At first it was easy.

He helped me with my internship.

I helped keep his ex away from him.

We were becoming fast friends.

It wasn’t until he started staying the night at my dorm did the rules of our arrangement become complicated.

Now my feelings are involved and even though I kissed the right man at the right time, I’m worried he’s just waiting for the clock to run out.

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn't take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. It wasn't until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven't turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I currently reside in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

listen….

this was cute at times and it did have some funny moments but overall so much of it annoyed me.

one thing that will throw me off every damn time is women being pit against each other. so having catty exes and the typical mean girl at work drama was so upsetting to me.

i’m all for a good age gap romance but when it makes sense!!! for instance i love ✨birthday girl✨ and that’s a way bigger age gap than this but it just felt like this one wasn’t it. a professional 30 year old hockey player w a 21 year old college student who lives in a dorm just didn’t add up. what do they even have in common? idk.

i felt like a lot of it was trying too hard too. it didn’t seem like natural conversations and encounters. it all felt very forced.

i did love the found family and seeing the whole friend group again!! they’re all so funny and fun to read about which is why this is a 2 star for me.

Meghan is my favorite RomCom author for a reason!!! She’s so damn funny and also happens to have some panty melting spice that never misses! Her men are so swoony & Silas is no exception. Whew. It seems like I am in my hockey era & I am loving it. Who knew sports were so fun 😛

What starts off as an impromptu kiss to make her ex jealous & awful Coworker think she’s in a relationship, ends up being one of the best arrangements Ollie could’ve imagined. She found the right man to kiss at a bar; Silas is a stud muffin who happens to be a very famous hockey player that is needing some loving!

Ollie & Silas are such a great duo. Their chemistry was great right off the bat & THEIR BANTER >>> Silas is so sweet but wayyyyy dirtier than I expected. A Jacob’s ladder!? COME ON 💦💦💦 let’s be real that’s the main reason we all want to read this book. And god it was hot. he could get it…all day every day BABBYYYYYY. Ollie is hilarious and doesn’t hold anything back. AND HER GBF, ROSS, IS AMAZING. He is the #1 bestie we all need.

Let me tell you, the audiobook experience is one you do NOT want to miss. Daddy Jason Clarke & Stella Hunter are such a perfect duo. And Jason brought Silas to light in the best ways whew. And the duet narration is just so perfect.

YOU NEED IT. SHE NEEDS IT. HE NEEDS IT. THEY NEED IT. So just get the book ;)

Both MCs were unlikeable.

The H was wishy washy and too into his problems if that makes sense. It just took away from seeing him fall for the heroine. His constant self doubts and his obsession with his ex were an absolute buzz kill. And another observation is that no matter what he says about how much he is over his ex in terms of his love/affection for her it wasn’t believable. In his case his actions spoke much louder than his words. He was always observing her whenever she was close by, obsessed with her beauty and grace but later claims it was just him being disgusted by the fact that he ever loved her so much. Mmm, ok, sure. Lie to yourself buddy. Also what really sealed it for me was when the 3rd act break up happened and he sympathised with his ex and reassured her that he will make sure that her job won’t be in danger. This is the same woman that cheated on him for months and played him like a violin for years. I’m sorry but his devotion and obsession with her is too much regardless of how many times he tells himself and others that he is over her.

As for the heroine. Gosh. I wish authors would stop trying to make the women they write “quirky” and ”oh so different”. She was either immature or too pushy. The only qualities that really did shine. It’s one think to be consistent and to try to persuade someone into a relationship if you like them and you know they like you too, but at some point, give it a break and reassess. And I’m also of the opinion that she had a lot of growing up to do. As a person. She may have found a career but I don’t feel like she is a grounded person.

The age gap here was obvious and not because of their respective places in life but because their personalities just didn’t fit. Maybe in a few years they would have had better chemistry overall but at this point their selling point as a couple is the fact that they are attracted to each other sexually.

Should I have given this book more of a chance? Probably. Will I? No.

The MMC seemed fine, seems like every other basic white male celebrity athlete character I’ve read.

The FMC … holllllly fucking shit I cannot go one more page reading about her. Possibly the most annoying character I’ve come across this year.

I do love age gap romances when done well but you could really feel the age difference in this. The FMC was just so immature - I think it was trying to come across as funny and “not like other girls” lol but it was just very tiring and frustrating to read.

This is just not for me

If you want to make a ten year age gap work, don’t write your h as an insufferable immature brat, middle school vocabulary speaking child.
Ollie is just yuck. Silas is eons ahead of her in life experience and maturity.

Yet another laugh out loud read by Meghan Quinn… that also had me in tears.

“𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 . . . 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍.”

Silas and Ollie were such a cute match. From the moment they met, it was instant lust. Yet they tried to ignore it and made an agreement to help one another by fake dating. The best part to me was how oblivious Ollie was to the fact that Silas was a well known hockey player. It made their connection so much better. (In my opinion.)

The banter between these two was superb. Even the banter between Silas and his teammates, they had be cackling. This has got to be one of my favorite reads of the month.

Ollie knows what she wants and does what she has to in order to get it. That’s my favorite quality she has. I love how honest she is as well.

Silas is a broken man, after his trust is completely broken by someone who he loved so deeply, it takes him awhile to open up. But his self awareness about everything made him such a lovable character from the beginning.

This is not only a romcom, but a story about learning that not everyone will hurt you, it’s okay to trust people and let them in. How important it is to open up about what’s hurting you and remembering to hear someone out when something happens.
I loved every second of this book.
I wish it never ended.

The moment she went on a word-vomit lie about how they met, I mentally checked out. That was so stupid, and that kind of stupidity in a character is unredeemable for me. Especially when in the following fight scene, she acted like the victim when he was rightfully upset. Just because he fucked up too doesn’t mean her fuck up gets erased. That kind of logic is infuriating

Knew I was done when most of their conversations started to revolve around sex and physical features/attraction. Of course I want them to be physically attracted do them, but how about some emotional development as well? I don’t need to hear for the sixth time how ‘hot’ her boobs are 🙄

Right Man, Right Time - Meghan Quinn
⭐⭐⭐⭐.75

"𝗜'𝗺 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂."

Listen, when it comes to baseball and hockey MQ can do no wrong. I stand by that. I was looking forward to Silas so much because a hurt, "I'll never love again" grump is the BEST kind of story. And Ollie DELIVERED. I absolutely adored these two and can't wait to get my physical copy.

"𝗛𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗼𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗳𝗳𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿. 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀. 𝗪𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗽𝘀. 𝗥𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁 𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗸."

Not only were the MCs incredible, but the side character Ross was amazing too! I loved reading about him, the hockey boys and the little bit of the other MMCs from other books *cough JP cough* I had a small issue just surrounding the conflict and how the instigator or 'bad guy' wasn't really in it through out the book a decent amount in the beginning and then not til the end. I felt we need a tad more sprinkled in. And even though I found it to be predictable it did NOT drag on and was resolved rather quickly which I think is awesome.

𝗜'𝗺 𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜'𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗱, 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄, 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝗽. 𝗢𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲...𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿?

Ollie is a FORCE. I absolutely adored her. She was hilarious, relatable and knew what she wanted in bed...mainly Silas 🥵 Silas...grumpy, sad, never wants to love again Silas. All he needed was a little fire cracker!! And when he calls her by her full name *SWOOON* The tension was so damn good it had my sweating and when you hit the spice?! *fans self* This is book 3 of the series and so far my favorite! I can not wait to see who we get next!!

Opinion Breakdown
The Good: The premise. The sexy times. The side characters. The zoo story 😂

The Not-So-Good: The h. While I didn't hate her or anything, I did find her somewhat annoying at times. I don't know if that was just the author trying to portray their age gap, or something, but I wasn't feeling her. I also thought the Candace character was a little too OTT in her vindictiveness.

The Bad: The ending. It was so abrupt. It was right after the conflict resolution and there was hardly any grovel -- which I do think was necessary after certain words were expressed. I also struggled with the H and how he was with the ex. I just didn't like it.

Overall: This was a cute read. I am a sucker for the fake-to-real trope and add in an age gap and an athlete?! I'm in! I didn't really read reviews before jumping in, in hopes of not setting my expectations too high. It was enjoyable and got quite a few laughs out of me, but there were some things that make it so it won't find it new home on my favorites shelf.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Ollie and Silas's story. Ollie is in a bar when she finds out that her nemesis and ex are now a couple and she walks up to the closest guy alone that she sees, Silas, and kisses him, pretending he is her new boyfriend. While Silas was completely thrown off, he thought that maybe she could return the favor to get his buddies off his back about his ex that is now working for their professional hockey team. They form an agreement to pretend date, form a friendship, lines get crossed, have some sexy times, and stronger feelings start to develop...and they get a HFN ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Ollie and Silas's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good until the abrupt ending. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well otherwise.

Instalove: No. They become friends first and then develop stronger feelings.

H (Hero) rating: 3.5 stars. Silas. I liked him but I didn't like how he didn't allow the h to communicate in their conflict (but he did listen to his ex).

h (heroine) rating: 3 stars. Ollie. I wasn't too sure about her. She was a little too immature for me in the first half, but I felt like she came around and actually matured as the story progressed...so there is that I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: Not with mcs

Cheating: Not with mcs

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends super abruptly right after the conflict was resolved. I need much more to call it anything but a HFN ending.

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

I’ve been so excited for Silas Tater’s book and I didn’t expect it to be age-gap or fake dating, but I was so here for it! I loved Silas and Ollie together. This one was so much fun. The conflict and ending felt a little rushed, but aside from that, it was fantastic. I’m always a fan of hockey books/any sports romance and definitely recommend this if you are too!

And to find out he has a Jacob’s ladder? Good LAWD, I’m in!! (Extra points for it 🤷🏻‍♀️, because, well, I’m intrigued 😮‍💨).

Also, the audiobook is duet narration 👏🏻 my FAVORITE kind.

The prologue opens up with Silas coming home from a game and finding his girlfriend cheating with two other people. He breaks up with her and makes it a point not to trust easily anymore- no more serious relationships (not to mention he spent a decade with her).

Two years later, a random woman comes up to him and asks him to pretend to be her boyfriend so she can save face in front of her ex who’s dating her nemesis. Silas (31) decides to go along with it and kiss Ollie (21) to help her out. She tells him she owes him.

When he finds out his cheating ex is going to be working with the Agitators, he decides to take Ollie up on her offer. He needs her to fake date him so he can show his ex he’s moved on (and so she doesn’t try to do anything with him) and, in return, he’ll help Ollie on her journalism assignment that she’s required to do for the internship she’s doing, since she has to write about hockey players, the sport, and the Agitators.

But, both of them start developing real feelings 👀

What I loved/liked: Possible Spoilers
—the 🔥. MQ delivers. We get sooo many teasing scenes 👀. The sauna scene was 😮‍💨 and nothing even happened 😅. That’s the best placement of towels I’ve ever seen 🤷🏻‍♀️. Ollie’s very open smexually and Silas appreciates it 💁🏻‍♀️. When she sits on him at a hockey event and gets him… “excited”, he has to get her back in her dorm room. And oh LAWD 🥵. A hand necklace? A commanding “swallow”? 🫠- yeah. That was me 💦. It’s on the slow burn side- home run happens past 70%, and it was sooooo worth it 😅💦😉

—cereal eating FTW: that was her bday present and it was good🥵 he eats his breakfast well 😮‍💨 even when she reciprocates, he has to reciprocate back again😉🤷🏻‍♀️🔥.

—duuuurty mouths. On both. Obviously, I love his more 😉 thanks the LAWD that he does a lot of it

—Jacob’s ladder. It needs its own bullet 🫠 I should add that neither are afraid of using toys 😅. Fiiiine by me 💁🏻‍♀️(I’m whispering this… but I feel like it would huuuurt 🤣😅)

—the 🤣 moments. Omg. I laughed and snorted MANY times 😅. I know many found their “meet cute” stupid and too convoluted, but I was cracking up 😭. The way the narrators acted during this scene made it even better 🤣😅. Even the text messages between Ollie/Ross and Silas/Posey had me giggling. The last MQ I read before this was Runaway Groomsman, so I appreciated the laughs (since I wasn’t laughing much in that one)

—many options ❤️ Silas’s amazing at giving Ollie options- from her sandwiches, to her coffee, to her creamers, and I found it super cute 🥹

—how JP Silas is 😅👏🏻. I loooove when the MMC gets jealous, and here, Silas get jealous and possessive 😈 MINEMINEMINE 💁🏻‍♀️

—I’m a suckaaa for a man in a suit 🫠 whyyy? I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just know I was here for all the times Silas takes off his jacket… and well, more after 🥵

—the side characters. I loved Ross 🥰 he’s such a good friend. Not to mention Posey and Pacey. The way Posey tells Sarah off was award-winning 👏🏻. I really love all of these characters ❤️

—previous books’ MCs appearances from other series. Besides the other characters from this series, we had the Cane brothers (all three delicious men) plus Ryot and even had mentions of Canoodle, CA (Runaway Groomsman). I definitely found myself smiling and feeling like a fan girl 🤣

—the OW smackdowns. Since there are TWO ow (one is Silas’s ex, the other one a coworker that’s dating Ollie’s ex), I luuurved when they got put in their place 😮‍💨. I normally don’t like the FMC taking out the trash, but I liked it here 👏🏻

What I didn’t like/wanted more of: SPOILERS
—lack of a grovel 😑. Look. I get it. The “betrayal” scene (not OP-related) was tough. Silas felt betrayed, but he’s so upset he doesn’t let Ollie explain herself much. The way he treats her was HARSH 😬. The male narrator did an amazing job being pisssssed in the audiobook, so for Ollie to not let him stew in his regret juices when he finds out the truth irritated me 😑. She loses so much and she takes him back so quickly. Some might find what he “does” to get her back enough. But not me 😐😑. I wanted more. I DID like that we see how much he’s suffering, but I wanted to see more of it 🤣. I will say- I looove how Ross stands up to Silas and tells him off 💁🏻‍♀️that’s why I love him 🥹

—more of an epilogue. It was too quick for me. What happened to Roberts? To Candace? To Sarah? Before the end of the book, it’s implied in the Jock Report that there’s going to be repercussions for what happened, but we don’t see it. It left a bitter taste in my mouth 😐😒. As for Sarah, I hope she gets an incurable disease 🤣

—fart face? Really 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄. It was suuuuuper immature! I have an 18 year-old niece and she wouldn’t have ever mentioned that as a possible nickname 🙄 and Ollie’s 21

—how does Ross and Ollie know Silas has a d piercing??? Ross’s like “I bet he’s pierced”
Like…
Hooooooowww?? Is there a universal d piercing sign 🤔? Do they walk a certain way?
Because, if that’s the case, then I’m gonna be VERY observant of men I see walking 🤣👀… don’t be surprised if you see me ogling men’s gaits 👀.
I also found it intriguing how Ollie and wasn’t intimidated by it 😅. I’m glad Silas found his match 🤣

Overall, I loved it ❤️

DNF. I got about 25% into this book and could not take anymore. It was over the top silly and I couldn’t make myself like Ollie. At all. Silas was a thirty one year old man and there is no way he would’ve wanted to be with someone as young and immature as Ollie unless he wanted a trophy girlfriend.

WELL…this book has quite the opening scene 😳 and for once it didn’t particularly make me want to read on 🫣

“Better watch out, man, feral beast incoming." 😈

Honestly, this book took a lot of warming up to. I think I set my expectations too high after the first 2 books. I just didn’t feel that insta-connection that I did with the previous characters 😕

Did I read on? Yes
Did I enjoy it? Yes
Was it fun? Boy, yeah!

It definitely picked up as the book went on BUT it did lack a little something…

Rewind ⏪ 2 years: Silas had a tragic start to the book…finding his future fiancé cheating on him 😢

Fast forward ⏩ to the present: We suddenly met a new character - Ollie

“My name is Ollie. I’m in a really tough spot, and I’m so sorry, but I’m about to kiss you because I need to save face in front of my ex-boyfriend, who is now dating my nemesis. If you don’t stop me in three seconds, I’m going in.”

Ollie is such a boss! And before you know it, we have a fake dating agreement on the table 🤭

I am happy to say that this story definitely grew on me. I found Silas a bit hard to warm up to. He has a very hard, cold exterior that is difficult to break through. But, I did like Ollie; mostly because she knew how to stick up for herself and communicate what she wanted/needed. For 21, she was very mature, extremely loyal and honest.

"I’m feeling like I have a touch of whiplash with you. One second, you’re incredibly sweet and helping me through this odd arrangement we have, then the next, you ignore me completely, and now you’re back to the first guy.” 😅

Silas is very much shut off, afraid of feeling again. He takes things very seriously, holds his cards close to his chest, and never shows weakness, but somehow Ollie manages to loosen him up and allows us to see his true self - the man he is past the high walls he’s erected over the years to protect his heart.

Despite a rather drawn out beginning, I really enjoyed watching this relationship mature. Once they finally got over the fact that they both actually had feelings for each other, the story was much more enjoyable. Ollie was definitely the star of the story, for me. She was the one that brought all the fun as well as breaking down Silas' walls.

Although this wasn’t my favourite book in the series, I still had an enjoyable time reading it. It had a lot more spice than the others novels which is the main reason I didn’t enjoy it as much; it was just a bit OTT for my liking and I didn’t feel as though the relationship was as genuine as the others ❤️‍🔥 However, there was still a lot to like about this story. I enjoyed seeing the other characters from the series (and a cameo from another series). I am very much looking forward to the next book…

“And there is no doubt in my mind that we have a bright future ahead of us because she’s mine. I’m hers, and it all started with a surprising, soul-changing kiss.”💋💫

This was fake dating perfection! I really loved how the hero and heroine meet and how they end up fake dating in order to benefit both of them. It was fun how she had no idea he was a hockey star and I loved the age gap and how they dealt with that! He knew she was so much younger, but that didn't stop them from having insane chemistry and getting along so well! The heroine did act a bit too immature for me at times, but I still loved their connection and, for the most part, I loved them together.

I did think this was a little too long and dragged just a little in the middle, but it was so good! I loved the hockey and how the heroine would play games with the hero since he was using her to make an ex jealous. And she was a journalism major, so things got really intense at the end with their futures on the mind. The conflict usually makes me annoyed, but I loved how it played out and how they got their HEAs!

The audiobook narrators were also perfection. I definitely recommend picking this one up!!

Narration Type: Duet Narration

The heroine: Ollie Owens - She is nearly in her senior year of college, majoring in Journalism and has been working as an intern all summer. At the beginning of the summer her boyfriend broke up with her and she just found out that he is now dating her work nemesis. In response, she picks a random guy and tells them he is her new boyfriend and they have been having great sex. She goes over and asks him to pretend to be her boyfriend.

The Hero: Silas Taters - He is a star right wing on the Vancouver Agitators pro hockey team. He finds his girlfriend cheating on him with both a woman and a man, in his bed no less. He finds out she has been cheating on him for a long time and kicks her to the curb. However, months later when he finds out that she got a job with the Agitators, he is disturbed to come across her.

The Story: when a beautiful girl asks him to pretend to be her boyfriend to make her ex jealous, he plays along, then tells her she owes him. He decides to make her his fake girlfriend so when he has to go to a work outing where his ex-girlfriend will be, it will be easier for him. Ollie sees the benefit of being fake dating and the two come to an agreement, though they specify some rules, including no sex. The two get to know each other and really like each other despite their ten-year age difference (she’s 21 and he is 31).

I really liked the fact that these two got to know each other pretty well before they got intimate. There were parts of this book that were hilarious, especially the strange story that Ollie comes up with about how they met. It isn’t long before the chemistry between them heats up and it isn’t helped by all of their talk about sex. Ollie is pretty funny and seems a lot more grown up than many 21-year-olds. I really liked her attitude and fearlessness.

This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via duet narration and was narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter. These are two of my favorite narrators. Jason has a deep smoky voice and is great at showing emotion through his voice. He sounds so sexy, especially when dirty talking and during the intimate scenes. Stella has a youthful, soft voice which is extremely pleasant, and she sounds perfect for Ollie.

Meghan Quinn is the only author that can literally make me laugh out loud while reading. I absolutely love her writing and when I heard she was writing the 3rd Agitators book, I was so excited.

This is the 3rd in the series, but reads as a standalone. The other two do not have to be read in order to read this one, however, you will get some easter eggs/mini spoilers from the other books. I also liked the littler tidbits sprinkled through-out of her other books.

You start off by learning why Silas and Sarah break up and then immediately jump 2 years forward meeting Ollie. Ollie is a 21 year old college student, who is out with her friend Ross finding out what their project is for their internship. Her nemesis, Caroline, comes in and you find out that she is dating Ollie's ex. In a complete lapse of judgment, Ollie goes up to guy and kisses him saying that they are dating, that guy is Silas Taters.

There was instant chemistry and lust between Ollie and Silas but they ignore it and decided to help one another by fake dating. The banter between these two was phenomenal. Ollie is a strong FMC, she knows what she want and does what she needs to get it. I loved seeing the growth in Silas has he deals with his past and really opens up to Ollie. I couldn't get enough of these two, I read this in one day.

I recommend this one if you love hockey romances, fake dating, age gap, slow burn, rom-coms.

Overall: 4.5

i got got like a total sucker because i saw a tik tok about the male character and the fan cast used was hot. that’s what i get honestly…

i had completely forgotten i said i’d never read this author again just last year, but here we are… at the risk of sounding like an absolute hater, not everyone should write age gap romance.

to summarize, this was one of the most juvenile, immature heroines i have read in awhile. i am tired of authors trying to write sassy, quirky heroines when half the time it falls so flat. for 21 this character read very childish, almost as someone play-acting adult. but the colloquialisms and mannerisms of actual early 20-somethings also weren’t there so the character oddly felt aged up in a way, which compounded with the emotional and mental immaturity of someone the age she was written to be, made for a weird character. it was contradicting.

for age gap romances to work i feel like there has to be a similar level of maturity where both characters trend on the side more emotional maturity; or at least a challenge from the younger to the older character’s maturity that makes them question themselves and kind of puts them on a more even playing field. here i found neither happened. they were similarly mature but that’s because the hero was a jackass. the hero being 31 didn’t come across other than the geriatric comments because he was such an emotionally immature ass whose most memorable trait to me was being horny for the heroine.

i would have at least enjoyed the romance if i felt there was any but i just don’t like this author’s style of writing romance. to me it felt like there was very little development or buildup to the characters getting to know and liking each other let alone loving each other. it felt insta love to me and i felt like once it got sexual there was little effort into the romantic side outside of them fucking like bunnies. the central conflict was underdeveloped until it suddenly wasn’t, to add end of story drama that felt forced and random. weaving in the conflict into the storyline frankly isn’t that hard but when all your characters do is fuck and talk about c*ck and c*nt… in fact, more time was spent recounting the stories about how side characters met and fell in love to kind of get you to buy-in to the series but that made me more annoyed because if i wanted to read those books i would.

idk i wanted to like this when i got it on kindle but this was such a waste of my time i ended up skimming once i hit the 50% mark to avoid a dnf this early on in the year.

also it’s 2023… we can stop it with the ageist comments toward the “evil” ex in age gap. something about decade younger heroines having these gotcha moments with the antagonists where they essentially attack them for being old feels just silly and catty at this point.

I adored this one!!! Right Man, Right Time is another hysterical, heartwarming rom com by Meghan Quinn. When Ollie needs to prove to her ex and his new girlfriend she’s over him, she randomly picks Silas Taters at bar and kisses him. After chatting, the two of them realize that they could help each other by pretending to date.

Fake dating will forever be a favorite trope of mine. The fake intimacy in public paired with the mutual pining and lust??? I melt. Every. Single. Time.

Silas was so hot. (I mean, he has a Jacobs ladder piercing, so if my review doesn’t convince you, that alone should). Ollie is a spitfire and I also adored her sm. She’s loud, unapologetic, and fiercely loyal.

I loved the slow burn fake dating friends-to-lovers arc. Usually in fake dating they immediately jump to the lusty phase, but Ollie and Silas truly formed a friendship first, and it was really refreshing.

Since this is a 4.5 read for me, I do have to say the one negative drawback for me was the OW drama. Ollie is not only dealing with Silas’s ex, but she also has an arch nemesis at her internship, who happens to also be a woman. I don’t love pinning women against each other, and there’s multiple points in the book where not only Silas is comparing Ollie to his ex (always in a positive way, but still), but the two women are in direct conflict. The subplot with Ollie’s nemesis also wasn’t super enjoyable for me (considering she’s also now dating Ollie’s ex).

Aside from the OW drama (cheating isn’t the conflict), I adored this book!

DNF At 25% I really really wanted to like this one because Meghan is one of my favorites, I wanted Silas book to be the best one yet but OMG how fucking insufferable Can a female character be?? Ollie is just the worst basically a child, Silas is a 31 year old man and she’s 21, look I don’t love age gaps but if done right I can be able to enjoy them but this one was just frustrating because she was such a brat and immature, Silas was fine your basic white hockey player, I liked his character when he appeared on the last 2 books and wanted a good story for him, sadly if didn’t happen, you don’t know how disappointed I am right now

SCREAMING OVER SILAS!!!! I really loved him and the character development he went through. But Ollie was a super cool female character that I really loved! I loved the banter. I was literally laughing out loud listening to this book. Which never usually happens. But the age gap? The fake dating? Everything was soo good!!

Right Man, Right Time is a standalone hockey romance by author Meghan Quinn. It is rom-com, told from both POV with a HEA.

Tropes:
✔️ sports/hockey
✔️ age gap
✔️ fake dating

Right Man, Right Time follows Silas & Ollie. Silas is an NHL player whose heart was badly broken two years ago and now his ex-almost-fiancée has started working in his team’s marketing group. Ollie is an ambitious 21YO journalism major who is resolute to make a name for herself.

Ollie is also determined not to let her Caroline, her nemesis, get the better of her. She’s already the boss’ favorite and dating Ollie’s ex. So when Ollie goes out with her BFF and stumbles into Caroline and her ex, Ollie kisses the first guy she sees and asks him to pretend he’s her girlfriend to save face.

It turns out Silas Taters wants her to return the favor. The two are forced to spend time together, real feelings for each other start to develop but will they be enough to overcome the Silas’ trust issues?

Even though the chemistry between Ollie and Silas was off the charts incendiary, they establish a formal (on a napkin) business transaction notarized (with a kiss) and include a no “whorehouse” policy. As you can see, the banter between them was extraordinary.

Ollie is my new favorite heroine! She is strong, witty, smart, confident, she knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to get it and did I mention strong? Her fearlessness worked well with Silas, who is 10 years her senior. She was unapologetically ambitious and determined to succeed, which made her a refreshing and inspiring protagonist.

I truly hurt for Silas, and appreciated how he opens up to Ollie, he was a relatable and sympathetic character. Watching him grow and change throughout the book was a satisfying journey.

Adding to the enjoyment where the secondary characters. Starting with Ross, Ollie’s BFF and Silas’ teammates as well as cameos from characters from another of MQ’s series.

Overall, "Right Man, Right Time" was a delightful read that combined heartwarming romance with hilarious shenanigans. If you're looking for a fun and engaging rom-com with a sports twist, I highly recommend giving this book a try.

Poor Taters had no choice not to fall for Ollie! I freaking fell for her! Seriously y’all Ollie is friend goals for sure! I love that she is kind, caring, carefree & a bit of a wild card. I mean their “meet cute” was hilarious.

Stella & Jason are freaking awesome. They are quickly becoming my favorite new duo. I mean Jason can read the phone book and still be 🔥🫠 And Stella us just so fun and flirty💕 Best shower scene ever 🥵

Gosh I wish someone would’ve throat punched Sarah😤 luckily for us Ollie puts her in her place. I love that Ollie has zero fucks to give when it comes to Sarah!

💕fave quotes📖

“Best pillows I’ve ever seen.”
“Where did you get them?” Posey asks. “Target?”
“Target?” Hornsby scoffs. “These are West Elm quality.” “Target has great quality pillows, you jackass,” Posey replies.—-omg these guys are the best! Seriously they’ll make you laugh out loud and swoon at their loyalty♥️

“Harry Potter World is probably one of the best things that has ever happened to fandom. It feels so real.”—-YES!!! 💯

That’s when I see what he texted her back.
Silas: Oye, my dick.
What in the actual fuck? “Oye, my dick?” I scream. “That’s what you fucking wrote? Oye, my dick? What the hell is wrong with you, Levi?”
He pauses, a pinch to his brow. After a second, he says, “I’ll admit, that wasn’t my best work. You can blame yourself. The pressure of running around the locker room hindered my ability to be clever and sexy.”—-THIS!!! I was crying laughing at them! Posey is such a lovable fool 🤣🤣

Holy hotness and adorableness! Right Man, Right Time was MORE than right- it was pitch perfect! Perhaps my favorite Meghan Quinn story to date. Add in some of my favorite tropes- fake dating, age gap, and hockey...well, I'm a goner for this book. Charming, swoony, epically hilarious, and ultra sexy- I could not put this down! The banter and chemistry - ah, I'm so madly in love with these two. I loved them together, totally addicted to their dynamic. And all the hockey bros made the best appearances. I love this world- and I never want to leave it. Meghan's signature wit paired with her endearing charm wove together perfectly for a story that delivered all the feels and all the heat. I was smitten, charmed, shamelessly grinning, sighing and swooning, crying and screaming- and laughing, there was SO MUCH LAUGHING! Both characters were quirky and flawed, in true MQ fashion, but most importantly they were LIKABLE and relatable, too. You rooted for them- I loved them individually, I loved them even more together.

The dual narration of the audio was amazing. Both narrators brought the essence of these characters to life with ease- plenty of emotive expression, perfect comedic timing, and the vocal chemistry on point. This book is perfect for audio, especially in the dual format- the banter, the texting, the flirting, the sexy times- oh my, it translated perfectly. Kudos to the narrators, this is by far one of my favorite romance listens. I loved this story- an instant re-read and truly the best of Meghan Quinn.

ETA: I take back what I said in my original review. Fuck Silas. Why the hell did he trust his cheating ex over Ollie??? LIKE NOOOO FUCK YOU VERY MUCH. You shoulda grovelled your ass off buddy. Ollie deserves better AFUCKINGMEN.

Gotta admit it, my girl Ollie's got some serious lady balls on her. The way she was so brave with being vulnerable with Silas? Yeah, I could never, so just for that she deserves a huge round of applause. As for Silas...I know how hard it can get when you have trust issues. All it takes is one second for one single person to break your trust. But it takes a whole lifetime for you to find that person who'll help regain that trust. And that was Ollie for Silas. This book was the perfect blend of spicy, swoony and emotional moments and I absolutely LOVED it! I'm looking forward to reading Eli and Penny's book as well as the Cane Brothers' stories eeeeeepppp!!! Fyi, I gave it a star less because I feel like the ending was a bit abrupt and I would have liked to see Silas grovel more.

**Audio Review**
Donkey pervert for the win! Right Man, Right Time by Meghan Quinn was a HOT, hilarious age-gap hockey romance that I devoured from start to finish. Meghan proves she is the queen of the slow-burn by creating all that delectable steamy tension that eventually combusts and will have you fanning yourself, hard. (Yes, lady!) Silas and Ollie’s romance starts out fun and flirty, and then erupts (So spicy!) and grows into so much more!

Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke narrate the audiobook in duet and are simply aural delicious magic every time they team up! Stella captured Ollie’s bold, witty, and spitfire persona perfectly showcasing her budding confidence and undeniable love and devotion for Silas. Jason brought his signature enticing growly tone to an emotional performance (Hello chills!) of broken, broody yet lovable Silas which made him even more irresistible! (Swoon!) Not to mention, Jason’s portrayal of Ross, Ollie’s reliable gay best friend, had me grinning from ear to ear. Stella and Jason both bring the HEAT by portraying Ollie and Silas’ yearning and burning magnetic chemistry!

Overall, I LOVED this book! If you are a fan of a hockey romance with a hunky grumpy hockey star, a sassy firecracker journalism major, fake relationships, getting back at your exes, dedicated besties, fabricated doctor appointment meet-cutes, family skate dates, zoo adventures, dorm sleepovers, oral birthday presents, steamy sauna spice, texting mishaps with teammates, Jacob’s ladder piercing, all of Quinn’s signature angst, and a HEA that will hit the RIGHT spot, then you will love Silas and Ollie’s romance. I always look forward to more from Meghan Quinn.
