Sometimes we all have to make room for new additions to our family. It can be hard but it also can be fun. That is exactly what happened to Midnight one day when his mommy brought home a new little brother named Snowball to be his best friend. Little did he know how silly and fun this new little brother can be. This story follows the silly shenanigans of two cats who are learning to get along and become family.
The Rascal Cat Brothers by Lisa Jacovsky expertly delves into the theme of adjusting to the arrival of a new sibling, a common challenge for children. The narrative unfolds through the endearing perspective of Midnight, a solitary black cat closely bonded with his owner, affectionately called Mommy. Midnight initially grapples with discomfort when Mommy introduces Snowball, an exuberant kitten, into their home. However, as their relationship develops, Midnight discovers the joys of companionship.

Lisa Jacovsky thoughtfully emphasizes that both cats can receive love and attention simultaneously, conveying a heartwarming and reassuring message.
Jacovsky's narrative employs simple vocabulary tailored for young readers, complementing Midnight's engaging perspective. This approach enriches the storytelling and effectively conveys a beautiful message of unity and harmony. The book not only offers an exciting and enjoyable reading experience for children but also serves as a valuable resource for parents and caregivers to broach topics related to family, friendship, and adaptability. The charming narrative, complemented by endearing illustrations, renders this book a delightful addition to any child's book collection.

Midnight and Snowball's journey underscores the transformative power of friendship and the enduring bonds that define us as a family. This book has a wonderful message for children and families seeking an engaging, heartwarming, and meaningful story.
Read it to my grandchildren as they love cats, but the book didn't hold their attention. We read it on KU. (My mission is to find very good picture books on KU while I still read and review traditionally published books.)
The cats in this story don't do anything exciting and the illustrations are poorly done too, which doesn't help. In every illustration, the Mommy looks different.
The idea behind the story was good (sibling rivalry), but it was not very well executed, so I can't recommend this book. There are much better picture books about cats out there.
We have one picture book about cats from the school library picked by my grandson so I'll post a review later. The pictures in that one are amazing so I'm looking forward to reading it.
Rascal Cat Brothers by Lisa Jacovsky is a great addition to any child’s bookshelf, especially those with pets or new siblings. Midnight is NOT happy about new brother, Snowball and has much to say about it! Will he learn to adapt to the new family member or will it be kitty-chaos? An adorable story with cool illustrations that kids will surely love. Five stars!
Getting a new cat brother can be hard at first, but Midnight eventually learned to love his new sibling Snowball. They bond over a mutual love for their Mommy and getting into mischief.
This is an incredibly cute story with awesome illustrations! It is also a great find for the cat lover in the family!

Kids love animals and who doesn’t love a good cat story!? This one demonstrates how a new addition to the family can be strange at first, but wonderful in the end! Adults and children will enjoy seeing so many familiar and humorous cat behaviors throughout the story.

It’s a nice read! I love how the story is written from the cat, Midnight’s perspective. Like the author said, we all have to make room for a new addition at some point, and the two cats ended up having their special bonds with their mom in their own ways!
My three year old granddaughter enjoyed this silly story about a kitty that gets a new brother. Both kitties have to learn to get along and share their owners' attention. Perfect for young readers to learn a cute lesson about acceptance.
This is a sweet book about sharing one mommy, toys and fun. Getting a new brother or sister in the family means sharing is very important. The story began not quite so friendly but as it continued, it was very sweet how the love became prevalent. Kudos to the author in showing that love.

The story captures perfectly the shenanigans that cats get up to! I like how the author describes the special bond between cats and their owners and how each cat in the story is distinct in character and personality traits.
I can't get enough cuteness in this book. I just love them. Cuteness overload. Loved this book as it reminds me of my kittens which is no more. Loved it.
