Are you one of those readers who laughs out loud, yells, and pretty much forgets that you are not living alongside the characters? Are you prone to talking to the pages? I admit it, I do, and with Tracy Tappan behind the pen, I was a babbling fool! Hang on to your shorts, Tracy Tappan has made humor, hormones and “didn’t see that coming” synonymous with fabulous writing!
Page one opens full throttle and The Community Series is back with Tracy Tappan’s signature tsunami of wit, raw in-your-face writing and characters you don’t know quite what to do with! Like the tennis match of the century, MOON-RIDERS brings a whole new meaning to the term “Love” as two people become the victims of Fate and an Unauthorized Bite.
Breen is a warrior, quiet but deadly and like all Varcolac males, a virgin until one whiff of Charlize sends him into a lust-filled frenzy and he is out of control. Charlize is a free spirit, a party girl, and her sexual conquests are near legendary. So really, when the hot guy in the workout room is looking for some action, why would she say no? In a case of major miscommunication and an Unauthorized Bite, Breen has a partial mate bond and Charlize has a rampant case of denial. Clueless about women, Breen is no match for Charlize’s deep freeze or how to win her heart.
When danger threatens, the warriors respond, but have they fallen into a deadly trap? Will near death knock some sense into Breen and Charlize both?
Every author has their own style and Tracy Tappan’s is a force to be reckoned with! Her razor sharp timing and fabulous plot twists make for riveting reading that NEVER fails to keep me hoping for just one more page long after I have devoured the entire book. Ms. Tappan isn’t afraid to make her characters unlikable, her scenes cringe-worthy, the romance passionate or to force her readers to sit on the edge of their seats, afraid to move for fear of missing a single, priceless line!
You want fresh, you want hot, you want turmoil of the heart with a chaser of the Fates having a field day? You NEED to read The Community Series!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Tracy Tappan!
Series: The Community Series - Book 4 Publisher: B. Reed Publishing (April 16, 2018) Publication Date: April 16, 2018 Genre: Paranormal Romance | Vampires Print Length: 349 pages Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble For Reviews, Giveaways, Fabulous Book News: http://tometender.blogspot.com
This book completely lived up to my expectations as the 4th in the Community Series!! I could not WAIT to get my hands on this book and I could not put it down. It gave me the biggest hangover afterwards!!! This is seriously saying something for someone who swears off science fiction books. I could not resist this series and am SO glad I gave it a try!!! I adore this world Tracy Tappan has created and cannot wait to jump back into it with the next release!! Breen and Charlize light up the pages in this book and the tension and chemistry is off the charts. They have instant chemistry but have a lot of work to get to where they finally truly connect. There is a lot of raw, gritty angst that keeps you turning the page wondering what is going to happen next. There is a ton of information revealed in this book that sheds light on the characters within the story from all the way back to book 1. If this community were real, I'd be first in line to sign up to go visit these vamps!!!
This is the tale of an Unauthorized Bite that changes the path of two lives.....dum..dum..dum... Words have impact and Tracy Tappan knows how to wield them like a razor sharp weapon. Especially in her vivid bad boy descriptions : He was "hot enough to please Satan, because his looks leaned heavily toward nasty with all the darkness he had going on....this kind of hottie snack absolutely dominated...." Yum. I was on vacation when I read this and even a sun filled beach had little appeal until I finished reading! Moon-Riders is the 4th book in the Community Series. In it we are sucked into the life of Breen, a warrior of the underground Tarana community and Charlize, a seemingly carefree, love-them-and-leave-them type of gal. What happens when in a fit of Bloodlust, he bites Charlize and bonds her to him? A lot. I do have to say that at first I didn't really like Charlize , her immaturity was glaring and her sexual values seemed a little too "loose" - even though we are made aware of her back story and Dragon genetics which helps explain this inability to settle for just one guy. I do love that she says what she thinks like "I want one" after observing the sexy warrior husband of a friend. She should have been careful about what she wished for:) Moon-Riders immerses you in the ping-ponging love/hate dependant relationship between Breen and Charlize, it gives you a peek at interesting past characters (possible future ones...hint ..hint) , and exposes you to new and old enemies. This story takes you below ground to the super cool community of the Varcolac and "topside" where poor Breen and his team face torture and possible death at the hands of the enemy: "A funereal silence descended over them...the nuts and bolts of it...they were screwed." Wow. And just when you think you know what's going to happen...wham...things change. This book is so worth the read, especially if you like unpredictable action, panty-scorching romance, reasonably believable sci-fi, hardcore studly warriors, emotional drama and a seemingly impossible HEA....you get the picture. And if this isn't your cup of tea, Tracy Tappan has a military romantic suspense series called "Wings of Gold" that absolutely blows the water out of other books in the genre!!! I did get an ARC of this book to review but I have also pre-ordered a copy of it. That says it all.
In the first few chapters I knew why I had missed those Varcolac boys so much! While this is the story of Breen the quiet & brooding Special Ops Warrior & the tough Dragon Woman Charlize it was so much more to the seasoned Community Series readers. It updated us on the previous book characters but also brought new depth to storylines only touched upon before in Luna Zana & the original Varcolac. Then there was John Waterson who had worked with Toni. As I have said, so much going on it was glorious to read. There were other threads in here which will build into future books but this is a complete story for Breen & Charlize. It took me a while to warm to Charlize but once her story unfolded she was easier to understand & Breen just developed throughout. If you haven’t read the Community Series before, you will get the most from this if you start with The Bloodline War & work your way through as you absolutely won’t regret all those hot hot hot Varcolac & their passionate Dragon women. I was lucky enough to be given an ARC but I would be buying this anyway as I am an unrepentant Community Series addict. I can’t wait for more please Tracy.
I have been waiting a long, long time for the next book in Tracy Tappan's Community series. I was not disappointed in Moon-Riders. Nail biting, heart pounding, eye rolling, tear inducing and a swoon worthy page turner.
I loved the nicknames her characters used through out the book. My favorite being the one John Waterson used for Jacken. I giggled at most, and found them very fitting for the person.
I like how the book advanced the 3 years since Blood-Bonded by Force. All the characters from Tracy's previous books were present in Moon-Riders. They weren't background players either. Their stories interlaced with Breen and Charlize being vital to the who, what and why of this book. The where being Țãrãnã. Getting caught up on their lives felt like coming home.
I recommend Moon-Riders and the whole Community series. The world Tracy has created for her vampire race is uniquely different. I enjoyed immersing myself into it and didn't want to leave. I hope the next book in this series comes out sooner than 3 years. Even if it does take that long I will patiently wait.
Tracy's unique spin on vampires is something so truly refreshing, especially if you've read your fill of the same ol' vamps drinking blood, can't go in the sun, blah blah blah.
True, Tracy's vamps share some of these qualities, but the originality is just SO cool!
I'll admit, I was not a fan of Charlize at first. At all. She sort of adopted the stereotypical "playboy" role of wham bam thank you, ma'am, no man will ever tie me down (figuratively speaking), etc. But I'm really glad I stuck with the book and enjoyed how Charlize changed her tune eventually.
Similarly, I wasn't sure if I would like Breen either. He struck me as a bit of a pushover, maybe even a little aloof. But again, he sure proved himself and I'm super glad I was given the opportunity to read this latest installment of The Community series!!!
(I was given a copy of this book in consideration of my thoughts)
This is the ultimate and best first chapter I have ever read in a romance book! Her description of the motorcycle male will tantalize AND make you drool. Tracy's tease and my self-deprecating groans of laughter immediately hooked me into this universe! Such writing left me completely enthralled.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy full of suspense, laughter, adventure, and love. Characters from past books roam through these pages (full of love and life changes), as well as Breen and Charlize's struggle to be honest and fall in love.
Tracy's descriptive talent, mixed with her sense of humor, is a gift I never want to miss! Her love scenes are just as perfect as a romance writer can get! You will not regret reading this!!!
I will say that Tracy Tappan is a really great writer. 1 star for that. I’ll also say that she’s a great storyteller. 1 star for that. She lured me in with the first two books. I gave them both 5 stars. The third book was actually my favorite because of Pandra. I only gave it four stars though. 1 star subtracted for the *SPOILER ALERT* farcical tinker bell-style fairies at the end - wings and glitter included, but warrior-class with swords and temperamental attitudes. Embarrassing ending for what otherwise was a pretty decent book. I should have quit there.
This fourth book was horrid. The main characters in this book are the worst. Hadley is spoiled and annoying with her woe-is-me mantra. John has never been likable in any of the books, so having one dedicated to him was a bummer. And then there is Charlize. Yuck. Selfish and mean. I don’t care what kind of trauma she went through as a child. Im not cheering for her. Her personality is heinous. The worst part of this book, however, *SPOILER ALERT* is the ruination of the one thing I most admired about these vamps. The idea that they are biologically unable to cheat on the women they love is adorable. I don’t understand why the author decided to write in a weird hall pass that allows them to cheat on their mates once every 19 years. What the heck? Why add such a weird and unwelcome anomaly? There were better ways she could have explained John’s existence.
I’m done. I won’t be reading the next installment.

Review:
I’ve read all the previous books in Tracy Tappan‘s The Community series. I always wondered if there were anymore, so I was thrilled to get to read her latest book, Moon-Riders. And it was sooooooo worth the wait.
So a quick run down ……. The community of Ţărână is an underground civilization. The Om Rău are a race of (bad vampires) The Vârcolac people are (good vampires)
Human Women from “topside” are kidnapped by the Vârcolac and mated to different classes of Vârcolac. At first I had issues with kidnapping women, but carry on and you’ll find that the males in this races, worship the ground their mate walks on. Previous attempts to repopulate their race has failed, so that’s why they kidnap Dragon women from topside (these are human females with certain DNA and tasty blood).
The Om Rău are cousins of the Vârcolac, but they don’t treat their women well (in fact a few scenes from the previous books almost had me giving up the series.) so if they get the chance, they will kidnap women from their rival group.
Are you with me? So let’s go ……
The book “Moon Riders” is just as fast paced and action packed as the previous books. Witty one liners and face palming will have you hooked in no time.
Breen has been recently promoted to the Special Operations Topside Team (to rescue and retrieve Dragon females) a quiet an unassuming male, he wants to find his mate, but is happy to do his job until he finds her….. and boy does he find her 😉
Charlize is a “good time” girl, always game for a laugh, the original “party animal” she’s all for having “fun” with Breen, until he bites and bonds with her, she’s not to happy at first, (the girl has issues and a few skeletons in her closet) in fact Breen really has his work cut out to persuade her that he is the male for her. But being a “virgin” (oh I forgot to tell you, until the Vârcolac finds his mate …. no sex drive !!!) he is overcome with bloodlust and “bonds” himself to Charlize. Breen finds it hard to show emotion as overtime his has frozen over.
And whilst this is going on …… there is a sub plot just brewing away (nope, not going to spoil it) and it’s a good one 😉
Will Breen and Charlize be able to get past their differences and be together? Well I think Charlize really wants to settle down (one of her friends is mated to a Vârcolac), she sees the way they are together, and it makes her wonder if she could have that too.
And Breen once he overcomes his lack of emotion…..
You’ll just have to read and find out.
I do think you’ll need to read in order, the books make better sense. It was nice catching up on previous couples from the other books. You won’t regret it.
"Moon-Riders" by Tracy Tappan. Book 4 in the Community series.
I liked this new addition to the Community series but I will say, it was not my favourite. The two main romantic characters are Breen and Charlize.
Breen is a Varcolac (vampire) male and the minute he scents Charlize in the gym, his primal instincts take over. She is his mate and he wants her. Good thing she doesn't turn down his advances. Charlize is a human female with a special birth mark making her a Dragon, a female compatible with Varcolac males to be their mates and able to have children with them. But Charlize doesn't believe in commitment. She's a wild woman, one night stands are her thing, and coming to live in the community of Tarana sounds perfect for her insatiable hunger for sex. When she meets Breen, he has no problem with her advances but what happens next changes both their lives forever.
That's a VERY basic intro to the romance between Breen and Charlize. There are SO many more characters involved in this book creating quite a few sub-plot story lines. In fact, this is why I only gave this book 3 stars. This book felt like it was a catch-up on old characters stories, teasing glimpses for new blooming romances, the main romance story and surprising information is revealed about more than one person. I enjoyed reading about all of this but I wish the main romance was longer and a little more in depth. Charlize is a very rough and aggressive character but you don't really see her soft side until almost the ending of the book. Breen is a very laid back character and again, it's not until the end of the book that you find out why Breen takes Charlize's....attitude....I'll say. Also, the other books had a very dark and sinister feel mixed with the romance of the book. I found this book didn't have that feeling as much as the others. (Which you may enjoy.) There is one character you can't help but hate and they give you that creepy kind of vibe.
Overall, I thought the story was very well written. I liked the story lines that emerge throughout the book. Great teaser about who the next book will be about and I'm looking forward to that one. This was a good book.
MOONRIDERS by Tracy Tappan Moonriders is a continuation of the Community Series and this is book 4. I love this series, and this is no exception and might just be my favorite one. This is the story of Breen and Charlize. A more unlikely pair would be hard to find, but they come together and the sparks fly. This story also brings us characters from the first 3 book which I love to see old favorites in later books. It is like a visit with old friends. These 2 really earn their HEA. They go through so much on their way to finding each other. I do not like to give too much away, but urge you to take a chance with this one. You would not have to read the first 3 to enjoy this book, but would benefit from the backstory they bring. I can always count on Tracy Tappan to bring a story that keeps me turning pages and wanting to know more about the characters I care about. Her gift for storytelling is what makes her one of my favorite authors. After reading the Community Series in its entirety I urge you to give Tracy's Wings of Gold Series a try, you won't be disappointed! I received an ARC for my honest review.
It's been a while since the last book and I had forgotten that this series isn't necessarily a rosy/hea type of read. The characters are all very flawed and imperfect which makes some aspects of the story pretty gritty and raw at times.
This was not my favorite in the series. The female lead, Charlize, was just really hard to take. For the first 40% of the book, I just cringed at just about everything that came out of her mouth. Breen was silent most of the time, so it felt like there was no progress toward any type of relationship. The story did take off after that and I did enjoy the rest of the story for the most part and I will read the next book.
I did have a significant issue with the Detective, John. What an ahole!
Moon-Riders is the long awaited fourth book in Tracy Tappan’s Community Series. Moon-Riders focuses on the relationship between Breen and Charlize and their unexpected bonding. While trying to figure out the new paths their lives have taken and finding a way to accept their fates, they hit many unexpected and surprising roadblocks along the way. I’m afraid to say much more since I don’t want to put any spoilers in here, but trust me when I say it will be well worth reading. You don't necessarily need to read the first three books but it will make this book SO much better if you do. I have loved every one of the books in this series and Moon-Riders exceeds all my expectations. There are so many twists and turns to the overall story I found myself frequently wanting to go back to the previous three books to see if there was some clue that I missed. Ms. Tappan has hit it out of the park once again and this book was so worth the wait. I really hope the fifth book comes out soon, I will be waiting anxiously for it.
This was a love/dislike journey for me. I read the first 3 Community books and I remember really loving them. I literally read over a hundred books a year so I couldn’t remember much, except for John for some reason. It didn’t hurt my understanding of this book however. Ms. Tappan did an excellent job reminding readers the important information needed to understand what was going on in this book. The writing and imagination that went into this was amazing and it kept me glued to the pages. My only issue was actually liking Charlize and Breen. I also had a difficult time with the violence and skipped it. Just not for me. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a wimp. I watch Vikings so I figure I can handle it. However, for some reason it really bothered me. The good news is, that even though I skipped at least 10% of the book, I truly didn’t lose one bit of understanding. Charlize redeemed herself and I went straight to Ms. Tappan’s page to get Prey.
When I thought about the emotions evoked by this story, I realized that they run the gamut from soft to hard. There’s humor and there’s tears, there’s heart-pounding, breath stealing excitement and edge of your seat drama, moments of intense passion, some of heartache and more that will tug at your heartstrings. And although this tale is focused primarily on Breen and Charlize, there are side stories which will catch your attention and keep your interest level high. This is an exciting, fast-paced, engrossing tale that you will find hard to put down. The characters and storyline are so well-drawn and developed that, although this is part of an integrated series, you could easily read it as a standalone and still find it immensely enjoyable. But I highly recommend you read the whole series. It’s a fascinating world with unending facets that leave you hungering for more, for the next thrilling episode. I truly hope there will be more to come.
Years after the release of book 3 we finally get more of this amazing world! It is great how time elapsed in the book world as well so things have kind of gotten settled within the community and now we come in to see everybody living their lives and of course new dramas with new and old characters alike.
A lot of issues have been resolved in the intermittent years and other things were resolved throughout the book while also giving us a whole host of new story arcs to draw us into this world even further. The characters are always full of life virtually coming off the pages. You feel their happiness and sadness their difficulties and their triumphs. It's so easy to get drawn into the pages and I read the entire book in one sitting over the course of a morning and early afternoon because I simply could not put it down!
This is book four and you need to read them all to appreciate the series.
I like this installment even though a lot of side characters got left hanging. The main characters, Breen and Charlize achieve their HEA through a lot of hard work.
I love that San Diego is practically it’s own character in the book. We lived their for 25 years and reading about these places and knowing what they are is awesome. But it doesn’t mean you have to be from there to love the story.
It’s well written and clever. There is some torture in this one so be forewarned. It’s not too bad for my taste. You may feel differently, but it’s important to the story.
This book was heavily loaded with side stories. Not sure i loves that. These people have their stories coming up soon though.
3.5 I enjoyed this book and I didn't. I have to applaud the author for being brave enough to have such a wholly unpleasant female lead - I didn't like her throughout and she wasn't really given much opportunity to shine and win readers over. It would have been nice to see a more pleasant version of her for longer than we did, and for most of the book, I felt totally sorry for Breen being stuck with her. However, the sub plot relating to the cop was interesting and some really exciting new characters were introduced. I did feel that the plot lost pace somewhat during the incarceration period, and for me, this section went on just a little too long - perhaps to make the readers feel the same as the characters? Overall, another good instalment, well written and enjoyable. Recommended.
I have been waiting for the next installment of The Community for what feels like forever, and it was worth every minute! I was quickly immersed back into the Vârcolac community, catching up with the lives and lives of characters I had grown fond of from the first three books, whilst also being introduced to Breen and Charlize. Their journey is a challenging one, and as we peel back the layers we begin to understand why they behave the way the do. I was rooting for them all the way, but will admit to shedding tears along with them. And as for what I didn’t see coming? Well, you’ll just have to read it to find out! (But I never would have guessed!!!) I’d give it 10 stars if I could.
I loved getting to catch up with my favorite charayfrom the Community after several years of waiting. The wait was so worth it! Tracy continued with the storyline in a way that made me feel like I had just finished the previous books (it’s been a couple years) and then introduced a few new characters and the new book was off and running in a fun and adrenaline-pounding race. This series wrings emotions out of a reader in a dizzying and awesome way - love, concern, anxietty. I also felt more than a little distaste for Charlize before ending loving her for her brokenness.
Awesome book from Ms. Tappan and definitely worth the wait!
Unbelievably amazing 😍 This series is shaping up into a dream material one, with loads of surprises and other worldly creatures taking it from good to very good to amazing on a high curve. I couldn't put down the books once I started them and each one took by surprise.
The moon riders however uped the stacks, we are finally getting answers about some of our first characters, seeing some of our old beloved ones lives turn around and being introduced to a whole new world 😍
I must warn there are some pretty intense emotions around, some life altering moments and if you are soft of heart some crying too.
I absolutely can't wait for the next book to be released
I was absolutely dancing when I got this book. The community series is awesome and this latest book was a long time in coming ( so worth the wait) Breen the quiet is blindsided when he meets Loud, brash, and just plain nasty sometimes Charlize. So many secrets are revealed in this book that had my jaw dropping with a great big WOW!. It took me awhile to warm up to Charlize and I'm still holding out on liking John. Great, great addition to the series.
I’ll start by saying I freaking love this series. This isn’t your ordinary urban fantasy/paranormal romance. I loved the new characters and back story in this one. While I’m guessing there is more to be told, (The Purest Breed and Blood Bonded by Force gave us parts), I can’t wait for more! Moon-Riders, like the rest in this series, has a lot of action. Once Tracy gets the book moving along the action is so well written you can ‘see’ it. It was hard to put down. As for the romances, they are hard fought for. Why make anything easy, right...it’s why we read these things!
I feel like i have been waiting for ever for this next book, and i can absolutely say it was well worth the wait.
Breen is a deadly no nonsense Varcolac warrior, Charlize is a strong minded woman, knows what she wants and is not afraid to go for it.
In short you have: One unauthorised bite, a partial mating, throw in some danger, there is a bit of catch-up with the other characters, great banter and of course the will they won't they. By the end, you have a wonderful easy read.
I read this on holiday, reading in the sunshine next to a pool.......excellent!!
This book had way to many lead character stories. In the blurb it said Charlize and Breen’s story, 70% of the book later and I had to go back and check the blurb to figure out who’s story it was again. The book went into Hadley, John, Dev, Breen and Nicolae’s stories. It became very confusing. The book is the moon riders and there was only a very small part about them. If the author would have stayed with most of the book on Breen and Charlize with just a bet on everyone else it would have been really good. John is a real douchecanoe of a character, just sayin.
I've been waiting for this one for a while! It did not disappoint!
What I love about this latest book was how the series continues to pull you in, no stagnancy here! Tracy Tappan threw in some twists that I did not see coming. New characters are introduced and old characters remind you why you love the series.
The only downer is that I'm ready for book 5!
I highly recommend this book but encourage you to start with book 1 if you are new to the Community Series.
The fourth book in The Community series and it takes place about 3 years or so after the previous book.
So in this book we catch up on characters from the other books and see how they and the town have fares. there is an introduction to a new couple who start out with a very rocky start. It is not the main part of the book though. I wasn’t really sure how I felt about them in the beginning but they grew on me.
This fourth book in the series was crazy hardcore with violence. The warriors were captives and their leader was cruel. Beyond creepy. Good thing I know Vampires regenerate their health with a feed of their lifesaving elixir! (blood). The author weaves very interesting and complex characters for her vamps! I know there is a book 5 but it was promised/mentioned over 3 years ago! Come on!
