The lone wolf Snow has her hands full. She and the surviving Alphas of the Chicago werewolf packs have been on the run since barely escaping an ambush with their lives. Whoever attacked them not only murdered Alphas and Betas, but they’ve managed to kidnap most of the werewolf packs in the area. Riding herd on four Alphas, and trying to keep them from turning on each other, is not Snow’s idea of fun.

Cassidy Nolan finally felt like things were coming together, like maybe she could actually be an effective leader. Now, she’s stuck in a van with these other Alphas, all of whom think they should be in charge. At least she still has Snow at her back. Their quarry is elusive, but Cassidy is determined. She will track down her wolves, and no one, not even the other Alphas, will get in her way.

As hope dwindles with each passing day, Snow and Cassidy push forward, strengthening their bond. Will it be strong enough to get them through the trials to come? And if the Alphas can even track down their quarry, will they be able to put aside their disagreements long enough to rescue their packs?

Someone has kidnapped the wolves from three packs and alphas Cassidy, Hammer and the twins Marrow and Bone are searching for them. After the organized assault by helicopter and ground forces, the alphas know their wolves will not make it out alive without their help.

MacTague is at her best in this novel. The strategic building of the suspense as the odds are stacking against the alphas is intense. And the addition of magic is brilliant. I was definitely not expecting it. I could not put this book down.

This story is book #4 in the Five Moon Rising series. It picks up right where book 3 ended, The Chicago North Shore Wolven pack has been attacked and many of it’s members have been captured and taken to secure location. Cassidy the Alpha of the pack and her girlfriend Snow, the lone wolf without a pack, team up with other Alphas who survived the attack and set out to find their pack mates.

This book was a slow start for me for the first 25% but then it picked up steam with lots of action and some cool technology and magic. This series has a lot of bloodshed and fighting, so beware if that’s upsetting to you. I liked it as it added to the ferocious nature of the Wolven, I didn’t fell that it was gratuitous. The old vampires show up again and a new set of magical witches are a big help to the Wolven.

Cassidy is still searching for her sister, the Hunter - Malice and her girlfriend Runi. And her mom is still involved. I think we are in for a surprise with mom, maybe she has special powers too.

I’m looking forward to book #5 and hopefully it will tie up all the loose ends.
Thanks to Net Galley for giving me the opportunity to read and enjoy this ARC.

The war is on full-throttle (#4 of the Five Moons Rising series)
This is the fourth installment of a fantastic urban fantasy series - and if you think that MacTague is slowing down for a moment or that all new ideas are exhausted you are utterly, UTTERLY wrong. The war on the wolven that started in #3 is now full on and this book was a wild, wild ride. I hardly could put it down (fair warning: start when you have time to finish) and waited with bated breath for the next twist and turn. Not good for my sleep, but very satisfying to read.
The Alphas have to work together and it was realistic and at the same time fun to see how that went - four Alphas have to concede to one being the Alpha of all alphas. And Snow, the lone wolf, who usually keeps to herself is right in the middle of it - oh joy. On the positive side: Snow and Cassidy are growing closer.
The whole world-building is absolutely great and the writing superb - as I have come to expect by MacTague. She doesn‘t give an inch on masterful and brilliant execution.
Let me gush a bit: This must be one of the best urban fantasies around (and yes, I am big fan of Patricia Briggs and Nalini Singh) and I savoured every line, every chapter. And if you haven‘t started this series, get the books, some popcorn and enjoy the show. To be continued …

Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. The review is left voluntarily.

The story continues when Alpha Cassidy and Snow team up with others to find it’s members have been captured and taken to secure location. While tensions heat up between everyone who wants to lead they have to learn that in order to save themselves and everyone that they need to learn trust each other. I won’t get into what going on because I tend to spoil but there’s is a lot of fighting and some questions are answers but leave you with more questions but overall great book in the series.

Holy cow!, What fantastic pacing from page one and a captivating dynamic between Snow and Cassidy make this a standout addition to the series, serving as a compelling sequel to Winter’s Moon. MacTague skillfully provides some answers while offering intriguing glimpses into upcoming storylines. Amidst the series, this installment emerges as my absolute favorite, weaving an intricate tapestry of mystery, intrigue, and trust issues Major Trust Issues. The author excels not only in world-building but also in crafting well-rounded characters, featuring a diverse range from Wolven and vampires to witches and fae oh my. The grand conspiracy unfolds, making it impossible not to cheer for all the supranormals involved. The anticipation for the next book is challenging, as these stories effortlessly draw you in. A satisfying conclusion for now. I can’t wait to see where Snow and Cassidy end up next in their search for answers.

Following directly on from the cliffhanger at the end of Winter's Moons, Cassidy and Snow have joined up with the surviving alphas, trying to work out what is going on, where their packs have been taken, and rescue them. It is very much the second half of the book, jumping right in, and while it starts off slow, the pace and action really does ramp up in the latter parts of the books.

There is a lot going on, but in amongst it all is the growing relationship between Cassidy and Snow, and it's really sweet to see it come to fruition. There is plenty of attention paid to the other alphas, along with some new characters, but Cassidy and Snow are the ones in the spotlight, the chapters from either of their pov's.

It is a very enjoyable story, what you'd expect from the second half of the tale, wrapping it up well, but also laying the groundwork for future books. As to who those books will be from the pov of - be it Cassidy/Snow or Mary/Ruri, remains to be seen - all of them would be nice, though ^^ There is plenty of character growth here, lots of action, and pretty much what you'd expect from this story. Very much looking forward to the next installement.

This is a great addition to a wonderfully entertaining series. I loved it. This series is very much like a TV or movie series with non-stop action and lots of twists and turns.

How can Stiletto be so calm with Cassidy now when she was so gung-ho on killing her when she had just turned. You would think that becoming a vampire would make her even more ruthless and blood thirsty. Why is she so friendly?

Cassidy makes Snow, a lone wolf, who needed no one before, more confident, faster and stronger while Snow makes Cassidy calmer, more settled and level-headed.

Cassidy's 'Star-Map' shows her every wolven whether or not they are in her Pack or vicinity, which I think makes her the strongest alpha because she can pull those wolven to her whenever she wants.

This is a series I will read over and over and over again. I love it!! I can't wait for Cassidy and Snow to meet up with Mary and Ruri.

Thank you Ms MacTague for keeping us entertained.

I'd enjoyed Winter's Moons and this book improved on pretty much everything: the plot was more gripping, the characters more defined and the romance developed very nicely. And the prison break! It was written so well, I was on the edge of my seat for the whole thing. The ending was also great, mostly because it was completely unexpected, at least for me. But also because it was the right choice and Cassidy displayed her growth by making it. I can't wait to see Mary Alice, Ruri, Cassidy and Snow all interacting together.

Looking forward to the next book!

Wow! They crossed the wrong families!

Amid the turmoil, this story shines brightest in its portrayal of unity. Cassidy and Snow’s relationship is a masterclass in trust, mutual respect, and emotional intimacy. Their connection grows stronger with every challenge, offering a stark contrast to the infighting and power struggles around them. It’s not just romantic—it’s foundational. They are each other’s compass, and their bond becomes a rallying point for others to follow.

This book doesn’t just tell a story of survival—it celebrates the power of love and loyalty to defy manipulation and reclaim agency.

I can't wait for Cassidy and Snow to meet up with Malice & Ruri and bring this fight to those assholes doors!!!

Another great installment of the Five Moons Rising series. Ms. MacTauge pulled you in right from the start into the ongoing storyline. The mains in this book, Cassidy and Snow was great to follow and ended up with a very long night for me. I couldn't put it down! The interweaved storylines that had been started in previous books, continue to flow through into this one in a seamless and well thought out way. The supernatural elements, though out there, are well though out and very believable as a sub culture in the recent world. I so very much look forward to more stories that take place in this world.

I generally like Lise Mactague's books but somehow I just couldn't get into this one. I didn't find the characters very interesting and couldn't get into the story at all. I was rather disappointed because I do like the Hunter stories.
