Journalist Jake Stewart wasn’t looking for love, murder, or lost treasure in this coastal town of quirky characters, but that’s what he found.
(This book was initially published under the title "Treasure of the Lost Russian.")
Jake is called in on a rescue mission when a town's newspaper owners are killed.
On the road there, he picks up Ruby, a beautiful but mysterious redhead hiding a dark secret behind her sexy smile.
In “Murder in the Cranberry Bog,” the bizarre falls like rain into Jake’s life — a Beast Man, cranberry rustlers, a talking dolphin, Moorish squatters seizing prime beach homes, a busybody who continually interrupts Jake's sex life, and Russian mobsters willing to kill anyone standing in their way of finding the treasure.
You'll love this second laugh-out-loud Jake Stewart mystery if you like loveable but oddball characters in a colorful setting, red herrings, an intriguing plot, and fast-paced writing.

Living in an RV, no salary, and a lot of curious murders in town, Jake sets out to solve the mysteries. Big Red, a Russian philanthropist from years ago becomes the center of missing treasure, a scandal with cranberries, and a Russian connection. What could go wrong?
As this book was progressing I had to stop many times. It seemed so familiar. I knew I already read this exact same story. As it turns out, this is the author of another boom I read titled Murder in the Desert. It was too similar for me. I didn’t enjoy this book as much as a result. It’s still a great story but need to be more original.
Based on the title and the cover, I thought this book was going to be a cozy mystery. It was a bit more complicated--with Russian treasures. I don't think it ever addressed the takeover of empty homes, by people claiming to be from a foreign sovereignty?? But I enjoyed the great cast of quirky characters and the humor. Note: IMO, the original title was a better description for this book.
I'm really enjoying this series. Jake is a sweetheart, makes a few dubious decisions with his love interests. Must be his lizard brain! Really looking forward to reading the next one
