Accessible and empowering. If one thing can be taken away from this book is that pelvic floor issues should be treated like an injury and not a punishment.
There are parts which are great - anatomy is accessibly explained and I appreciate that a whole-life approach is mentioned.
But, like the majority of books on the topic, you could be forgiven for thinking that pregnancy and birth are the only causes of trauma to the pelvic floor, and the main reason to strengthen it is this. It’s also frustrating that the author sticks to the NHS party line in terms of exercises, rather than looking more broadly and encouraging people to try other methods of improving function.
