Did I love every pattern? No, but, there are quite a few great basics in different yarn weights. Sweater patterns can average about $10-$15 each, so if you like at least three or four, it’s worth it to buy the book. So I did!

I've read a couple of books from Laine of the 52 Weeks of... series, and I like this book the best. The pieces are generally simple shapes done in a larger gauge yarn, but some pieces still seem unlikely to be finished within a week. There are interesting design details and color combinations, and —hooray!— there are several pieces that are seamless and worked from the top down! There are no schematics but stitch diagrams where necessary. Some pieces aren't showcased well through the photos, but the overall graphic design of the book is decent. This is a fairly thick and heavy book, would have been great if it was spiral bound so that it lays flat. This might be a good choice for a beginning knitter looking to start knitting sweaters.

I definitely don’t think some of these things could be knit in one week? lol. Some good ideas clearly written and pictured. A smorgasbord.
