I write these “briefs” to visit some thoughts to my 3 grandchildren who each remind me in an enormous way of my high school and college yrs. They have each worked at their educations and lives thus far, much in the same way as I did. So I’m going to share some thoughts with them totally unsolicited, about facing life. Who knows? Maybe 2021 will be my last year (but it wasn’t ). For 50 years now, I’ve been studying about my Creator. I visited ancestry.com recently, and didn’t find any apes or gorillas in my past. I chose not to fantasize about billions of years to a point that my accidental parents slurped some primordial slime. I did however discover a great deal about being designed and created, seen in the womb, having the hairs on my body numbered, and a significant “life after” to glory or judgment, all based on buying that ticket in this life. I’ve been studying this book called the Bible, or Gods word, for over 50 yrs now. Don’t criticize me if you haven’t. It’s loaded with items and chapters that explain this mess we call life, and states it has been delivered and written by the author of life Himself. I was an above average student through college. I was accepted at Law school in Chicago, but after 3 weeks decided that another 3 years living at home just wasn’t going to work. I got married and moved on. we’re still hitched! I did return for another year of post grad at UCLA and a seminary where I improved into the “A” orbit. So I’m going to share some reality with my grandkids as they begin this year. They don’t need to change their lifestyles one bit. My point is to encourage them to include God in their thoughts, education, and lives, so they don’t miss all the good things God has for them to enjoy (The Book of Ecclesiastes). I think its best summed up in the children’s prayer I prayed 70 years “if I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take”. I hope my friend that you join me in that prayer!
