How well do you know your friends? Kate Brody is ready to enjoy her new-found freedom after closing her café. With a fresh start, a change in business plans, and a new friend in town, she’s off to a good start. Unfortunately, things take a turn when her friend, Daphne, is implicated in a murder.
Daphne was the last one seen arguing with the odd, cranky lawyer—and the one who found his dead body. With all eyes on Daphne as the most obvious suspect, there’s a flush of whispers quickly spreading across town.
Can Kate help Daphne clear her name before her reputation is shredded to tatters? Or is Daphne hiding a secret all her own? With a cast of quirky characters, and a mystery loaded with small-town charm, can you solve this case before Kate does? Can Kate’s witchy magic help solve the case, or will it hinder her at every move?
I love to write cozy mysteries with fun, quirky characters, talking cats, witches, small-town communities, and puzzling stories with clues that give you a chance to solve the puzzle before the sleuth.
Magic realism, cozy witch mysteries, and new ages witches are how I'd probably shelve my books.
Kate's enjoying her new store and meets newcomer Daphne who's opening a shop across the street. Everything is going well until an obnoxious man who hires Daphne winds up dead. Poor Daphne is under suspicion and Kate jumps in to help her out. With lots of twists and turns and some really unexpected surprises Kate and Daphne work to prove her innocence. Murderer is revealed near the end and is a complete and utter shock, they confess but when police arrive, they turn the whole story around and now Kate and Daphne are under suspicion. In the end the police get the proof they need and a confession from the murderer. Really great read and I highly recommend.
Kate just can’t help herself. She is always finding murders to be involved with. This time she’s only helping a friend. Oh Daphne did you kill him? It’s definitely a mystery.
