Tales of the Harker Pack Collection

Rate this book
A werewolf versus a panther shifter, a billionaire, socialite flamboyant, half-human wolf, and a shifter so charismatic he captivates with a stroll across the room—meet the males of the Harker Pack in Tara Lain’s bestselling paranormal collection. You’ll fall in love – just like they do.

Book 1 -- The Pack or the Panther
Cole Harker, son of an alpha werewolf, is bigger and more powerful than most wolves, tongue-tied in groups, and gay. For twenty-four years, he’s lived to please his family and pack—even letting them promise him in marriage to female werewolf Analiese to secure a pack alliance and help save them from a powerful gangster who wants their land. Then Cole meets Analiese’s half-brother, panther shifter Paris Marketo, and for the first time, Cole wants something for himself.
But this is the battle between cats and dogs!

Book 2 -- Wolf in Gucci Loafers
The billionaire, socialite, playboy -- werewolf.
Socialite Lindsey Vanessen wants someone to love who will love him back — an impossibility for a gay, half-human, half-werewolf. Then Lindsey meets tough cop Seth Zakowsy—the hunky embodiment of everything Lindsey wants but can't have.
Seth has never been attracted to flamboyant men. But intrigue turns to lust when he discovers Lindsey’s biting, snarling passion more than matches his dominant side.

Book 3 -- Winter's Wolf
Winter Thane was raised on the two cardinal rules of werewolf existence: don’t reveal yourself to humans under penalty of death, and there’s no such thing as a gay werewolf. Ha! Winter takes one look at human FBI agent, Matt Partridge, and decides bird is his favorite food, but trying to convince Matt of that ends them both up in chains and facing imminent death. Winter quickly learns the pack alphas are a bunch of wusses, and humans aren’t quite what they seem.

ARC received from GRR for an honest review.

Book 1: The Pack of the Panther 4 stars
Cole, the alphanta of the Harker pack, is promised to the the alphanta of the Marketo pack, to bind the packs by marriage. When that doesn't work out like it was planned the alphas have to make due. Cole feels like his wants aren't being considered and things aren't working out as planned. He has a plan that he will put into place after the packs defend themselves against the evil coming for their lands and a member of their pack. The world and character building are good. The story is really good. I thought that Cole and Paris had great chemistry. The supporting characters all have strong personalities and were well rounded. I didn't like some of the dialogue between Cole and Paris as I thought it sounded like a man and woman talking, not two men. Also Cole calling Paris his bride and carrying him bridal style was just not appropriate at all. Cute short read.

Book 2: Wolf in Gucci Loafers 5 stars
Lindsey is from a wealthy family. He is called to help out a friend in need and meets Seth, the police officer helping on the case. There is instant attraction and soon they're acting on it. When Seth finds out about one of Lindsey's past times, there's instant trouble in paradise. Will these two strong willed alphas be able to work things out before it's too late? This is a really good story. Characters from book one are also in this book but it's not needed to have read book one first. Lindsey is a man of two worlds and he has a myriad of personalities to show. I liked that he immediately took to Jazz and made him family. Great chemistry between Lindsey and Seth.

Book 3: Winter's Wolf 4.5 stars
Winter was raised in Canada by his father. They were just roaming freely, no pack affiliation at all. Then one day his father decides they need to go home and embrace pack life. Winter knows something's up but he goes along with it. When he meets Matt, the FBI agent working a drug case with a dead agent, he's instantly attracted and goes after him. Matt doesn't put up much of a fight either. Matt is busy with work and taking care of his father. Winter gets embroiled into bad things at work and through the pack. It's enough to make them want to run away but responsibilities come first. Winter and Matt have good chemistry. The story is good. I did want a little more story on the issue with what was going on with Matt and his dad and the treatments they took.

All in all this trilogy is a good, fast read and well worth the time.

The Pack or the Panther
Wow – loved the story! Cole Harker was being forced to marry a female to create a treaty with the Marketo pack, but luck smiled down on him and she ran away. Left standing was the one person who fascinated Cole and that was Paris Marketo. This is the story of Cole and Paris and how they worked together to save the pack and their territory from Eliazer and his enforcers. This book was hard to put down and I encourage anyone and everyone to read this collection of books. So good!!!!

Folks are getting kidnapped, and Lindsey Vanessen is on the case or at least as much as the FBI and police allow. Lindsey also has an alter ego that stalks the night, and the reader quickly gets deeply involved. Seth was a cop assisting the FBI and Lindsey just wasn’t what he usually was attracted to, but the chemistry was undeniable. Who was kidnapping the friends and neighbors of the rich? Seth and Lindsey work together all the while hiding his werewolf side from the man that checks off all his boxes. This was a fascinating story that kept you guessing who was really involved. It was both funny and intense as the kidnappers strike really close to home. This story is a must read!
Winter’s Wolf
The third and final book in this collection has some surprising twists and turns as Winter unravels who the mystery leader of the drug ring is all the while falling in love with Matt. Matt’s plate is full with, both his job at the FBI and taking care of his dad. Matt believes he suffers from the same condition his dad does and is very afraid to commit. It only takes a devoted wolf who uncovers secrets that allows the two to be together. This entire collection of stories was absolutely wonderful and a definite reread because I just can’t help myself. I love Tara Lain books!

Book 1 - I enjoyed the change from dragon vs human and wolf pack vs wolf pack that I have been reading lately. The canine vs feline aspects were interesting and well done. The two main characters are great together and it was fun to see two basically solitary souls come together and build a relationship. The baddie is suitably bad and I cheered as he was defeated. A quick read with interesting character dynamics and a world with lots of room for more exploration.

Book 2 - I enjoyed the first book in this series and was waiting for the second, but even if I hadn't been I would have tried this one just for that title. It did not disappoint. I adore pairings of strong, dominant types with more flamboyant characters. It is fun to watch them rub each other's rough edges off and find a way to be together. The crime/mystery plot was handled well in this book, it did not have to take a back seat to the romance. It made sense that these two would run into each other, the vigilante and the cop. Looking forward to a continuation of this series.

Book 3 - Mix gay werewolves (who some claim don't exist), FBI investigations, love at first sight, and villains to defeat with massive amounts of character development and you will understand what an amazing read this is. Several characters start out as unlikeable and confusing but are plausibly changed over the course of the story into ones you will like a lot. The world building that we saw in previous volumes continues and many questions are answered. It would be helpful to have read previous volumes in the series but it is not necessary to enjoy this one. Any details beyond the blurb, really could be spoilers, so just let me say if you love complicated plots with great shifter characters, grab this book.

It was great getting all three of these books together and I enjoyed reading them all again.

An enjoyable and entertaining collection. Each book focuses on a different couple but are loosely connected. These romances are between what they consider forbidden couples - a shifter with his fiance's brother and mixed species, half human-half shifter with a human, and a shifter with a human. Each pairing has explosive chemistry with some smoking hot scenes, as well as genuine caring, a rock solid connection, and a love worth fighting for. Each book also contains various amounts of conflict, danger, violence, intense situations, duty, laughs, heated attraction, and some unexpected twists. There is stalking, kidnapping, a psychopath, drug trafficking, mystery, drama, family secrets, and there is didissension within the packs that -at least to me - was not fully resolved.
Cole and Paris have differing opinions about pack life, Cole is focused on doing his duty and Paris is determined to keep his solitary life.
Lindsey and Seth are complete opposites with Lindsey being very flamboyant (but also very strong and family focused) and Seth being very macho and dominant and up until now, not attracted to the type of man Lindsey is.
Winter and Matt have some similarities with regard to each being devoted to their fathers. Winter has led a very secluded life with just his father, and Matt has been doing everything he can to help his father's struggling health.
These couples may seem like opposites in many ways, but the attraction between them keeps drawing them together, and when trouble arises, they are ready to step up and deal with whatever is thrown their way.
I received an ARC, this is my honest opinion, and I would definitely recommend this collection.

This is a boxset of three tales from the Harker pack. The pack has always believed that no werewolf is gay but These stories are how they learned otherwise. Cole Harker is the alpha's son and next in line to be alpha and is one of those gay werewolves. His pack is having problems with another pack trying to take their land. A marriage alliance must be made so Cole's dad sets him up with the other alpha's daughter. Cole is unhappy with the idea of being mated to a woman and is even more unhappy after he meets her exotic half brother.

In book two, Lindsay is the impossible. Not only is he a gay werewolf, he is half human. He comes from a wealthy family who have no clue that he is a werewolf since he was the product of a one night stand of his mother. When kids of wealthy families that he knows start getting kidnapped, he is willing to help the FBI and police investigate. Especially once he meets Seth, the sexy policeman who just may be his mate.

The third story involves Winter, a werewolf with alpha type powers who has been raised in the wild by his father. His father is horrified when Winter says he is gay and believes it is because he hasn't been around female werewolves. He drags Winter back to his home pack to prove that there is no gay werewolves. Both he and Winter are greatly surprised to find out that gay werewolves are possible. Winter gets dragged into an investigation run by FBI agent Matt Partridge. Winter is very drawn to Matt but Matt keeps pushing him away.

Intriguing. Cole, the son of the Alpha wolf, is 24 and lives to please his family to the point he is allowing himself to be married off to form an alliance to ensure his pack's security. The problem is that he's gay and has no interest in Analiese. But he does like Analiese's brother, Paris. There is a gangster, Nikel Eliazer threatening packlands. He takes what he wants and enjoys watching everyone's fear of him. Then he saw Paris, and decided he wanted him. Personal dynamics is a bit interesting. Cole being Alphanta, yet shy and people averse is a strange bit of irony. Will Cole and Analiese sacrifice their personal feelings for pack? How will Cole and Paris handle their attraction to each other? Will Nikel take advantage of any perceived weakness? Intense story, keeps you on the edge of your seats with so much at stake. The rest of the stories were good also, Cole and Paris, were my favorite. Lindsey, is out and proud and wants a love of his own. It's nice to meet him personally, he's adorable. What a surprise when he's attracted to lawman, Seth, who is amazing! Winter and Partridge are a good fit. Great drama, nice action excellent family. Good read, nicely done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Tales of the Harker Pack has books 1-3 of the series. The author is Tara Lain, she is one of my favorites, and always brings emotion. This series is no exception. We have The Pack or the Panther, Wolf in Gucci Loafers, and Winter’s Wolf. This is a great series in general. I loved having them in one place to read them.

My personal favorite is Cole Harker’s story: The Pack or the Panther. Cole is an Alpha wolf. I loved that he is strong but has his weaknesses that Paris can step in and help with.

Paris: he is a panther. Solitary and usually doesn’t want anything to do with the pack. He is funny, strong, and willing to bail out Cole anytime he needs it.

I loved this story cause it made me laugh and the connection between Paris and Cole is amazing.

Overall: This series is great. Each story bleeds into the next. We can see characters we know and be introduced to new characters seamlessly. I loved it and cannot wait for more from this wonderfully strong funny and loving clan.

It's so great to have these three shifter books in one collection.
There's a great collection of characters, relationships and dramatic plots that provide something for everyone. All three books have some intensely hot scenes whilst also being so caring of their mates and pack.
Cole and Paris are the original forbidden romance with the fiancée's brother, arranged marriage, mixed species, evil psychopath tropes covered.
Lindsey and Seth bring us another forbidden romance with a half human/half shifter and human pairing, kidnappings, opposites attract, and a cute foster kid
Winter and Matt have shifter/human relationship, drug trafficking FBI work, dissent in the packs, and family secrets.
There's a lot going on in all of the books with a good amount of mystery and drama alongside the relationships that develop. Each pairing face challenges for a variety of reasons and it takes some strong characters to face that and get to be together.
Highly recommended from a much loved author.

Trilogy Perfection

This is my first read from Tara Lain and it won't be my last. Rather than there being a couple or plot I liked least, it was a matter of who & what I liked best. Cole & Paris formed the foundation of the series. Lindsey & Seth built upon that, followed by Winter & Matt bringing it to completion. It was satisfying to see how the stories connected and supported one another. It came off natural and quite seamless. I won't name names but I was relieved that some of the side characters were not villainous as I'd suspected, and some redeemed themselves with a bit of character development. I will say that Winter & Matt turned out to be my favorite couple, and story. There was a fair share of the proverbial fingernail biting from suspense, but in the end of was all worth it. I'm excited to read more from this author.

I really enjoyed this collection. It was the first I've read by this author and I will definitely be reading more. This collection includes:

The Pack or The Panther
Wolf in Gucci Loafers
Winter's Wolf

The Pack or the Panther was my favorite storyline of the three books. I liked Cole's personality and thought him sweet. I loved the premise of him in an arranged marriage to a female werewolf from an allied pack, but instead falls for her panther half brother.

Wolf in Gucci Loafers had my favorite characters of the three books. I loved flamboyant werewolf Lindsey- his personality and characterization. I also liked the dynamic between him and dominant Seth, and the vigilante/cop aspect.

Winter's Wolf was a captivating story with great world building and I was completely hooked.

An excellent collection

I forgot what it was like to read something written when MM romance was newer and this def has those nostalgic feels, but it also reads as old as it is. Which I get, and knew going in, but I’m not sure I was fully prepared for the throwback. Honestly, if someone tried to write the plot device in more recent release I would DNF it, but I get that this is an older book and I respect it for where it came from and honestly allowed me to see just how far we have come.

I enjoyed the series, loved that they were all together, and it gave me everything I wanted when I requested this book. Basically, the enjoyment of what PNR use to be and living in that world, it helped that I like this authors storytelling and writing style.

Good paranormal trilogy

I generally love a shifter romance, and these books were a nice read together. There’s nothing hugely groundbreaking about them, but hey, I don’t reread my favourites or look for tropes I love because I want something brand new. The three books were engaging enough to keep me reading, with interesting main characters each time and fairly steamy romances. There’s a bit of an overarching plot but they’re definitely three individual stories, and there’s a decent amount of action and mystery as well as the romance.

On the whole, I enjoyed these and will read more from the author, but I probably won’t be adding them to my list of perpetual rereads.

This is a pretty good shifter series! It takes some different turns than the usual a/b/o but the world building was interesting and the characters were well written. I prefer stories with action as well as romance and this delivered that. There’s an ongoing storyline in the series but each couple in the first two books gets their HEA. I found the story compelling and there was plenty of heat as well. It was great having all three books bundled together here. The dialogue was a bit over the top and unrealistic at times but is fiction so…

By the end of the first story, I wasn't sure I was digging these books. I felt like Cole was almost childish at times with the way he spoke and thought. Paris is a solitary creature who wants nothing to do with pack politics, but somehow gets dragged in. There are some almost homophobic comments made by other pack members. The secindary characters are great, and I was anxious to read about Lindsey. His book redeemed the series for me, or honestly, I'm not sure I would have read the last book in the collection.

Each book within the series is well written and fun to read but having them all in one collection made it more enjoyable! I love being able to binge a series once I discover it and having them all in one file makes that so much easier. Written in the authors normal style her spin on the shifting genre was well done. Definitely worth the read even if this genre is not your favorite.
