Self-Care for Black Women: 5 books in 1 is a treasure trove of uplifting guidance for personal wellness. Author Layla Moon shares her journey to demonstrate her need for self-preservation. She states, “…you should focus on yourself, your journey, your experience, and you can tackle what’s going on within.” The first book deals with emotional self-care topics like anxiety and depression, and anger, while the second explores various forms of spiritual self-care. The third and fourth books are filled with empowering positive affirmations to speak out loud to yourself. They are specific to Black culture and the unique experience Black women face in the world. My favorite book of all is Moon’s One Year Self-Discovery Journal, which emphasizes that self-care is an ongoing process. I have found the affirmations helpful enough to share with friends and recommend the book.
