wow - after reading really quite a lot of fassbinder books, i didn't anticipate finding a fresh one i could comfortably call the best. not for the beginner, perhaps, and not totally comprehensive (even up to 1981), but some first-rate essays and a truly indispensible annotated filmography (by one wilhelm roth)
