She's his boss. He wants her job. But he wants her more.

It started with a lie. An innocent, white lie. Okay, it wasn’t so innocent. I’d hit rock bottom. No career, no boyfriend, and I had accidently moved into a fifty-five and up community where my best friend was a short seventy-year-old white haired Italian grandmother with big hips and an even bigger mouth who was constantly trying to set me up with her grandson.

When I was offered a job as a private investigator working with the hottest man I’d ever seen, I may have fibbed a little and told my new boss that I’ve got the right experience.

Tiny problem. I don’t actually know what investigators do. Googling corporate espionage and taking my seventy-year-old neighbor on stings while drunk on Limoncello probably isn’t in the job description. Neither is falling for my assistant, the gorgeous Green-Eyed Luca, who is either trying to take me down or take me out. I absolutely, positively cannot date Luca but with sparks flying, how could something so wrong feel so right? And will he still want me once he discovers the truth?

Kisses Sweet Like Wine is the second book of the Bristol Bay series by Brittanee Nicole- and I absolutely loved it! I must say that I loved the enemy to lovers/co- workers trope that was going on here hit the spot for such a fantastic read.

Belle- She's gorgeous, smart, funny and has a killer shoe collection! not sure what she is exactly doing with her life but when this opportunity that is basically handed to her- she takes it and rocks it…. sort of…. Her character is phenomenal I absolutely loved the way she was written.

Luke "Luca"- Dreamy, Italian, swoon-worthy, knows what he wants, smart, sexy and did I mention he knows what he wants? What he wants is Belle. He's had a difficult past with his father and his career, but the man is completely driven and will do anything for anyone as long as the person is completely honest….. Watching him step up in the role of taking care of his teenage sister and dealing with his meddling Nona for finding him the perfect girl, just goes to show you immediately what type of character he is and that he's got heart- and I absolutely love that about this character.

This slow burn romance did move at a fast pace and kept me interested since the very beginning, even though I'd love more steamy scenes for future characters written by Nicole, I must say what was provided was exceptionally well;)

Overall, a sweet, sexy, fantastic read and once again I'm looking forward to more by this wonderful new and upcoming author.

Fun, Flirty, and Fraud

Nonstop banter, a meddling Italian grandmother, and fabulous shoes!

Enemies to lovers as a rom com in high heels! The chemistry leaps off the page making you want to reach into the book and bang their heads together until they bang.

But here's why...

I started this book with no idea what I was getting into. I was hooked from the first word and realized that there is another book before it. I love arc reading. To the backlog I go!🥰

This is a very sweet, clean and funny romance book for sure. It is the second book in the Bristol Bay series and it’s absolutely a great read!
Luca and Belle are the cutest!
Belle has returned to the US after having spent some time in the Azores with her aunt who recently passed away. She inherited a fabulous collection of shoes that have a big role in her story. Her and Luca meet under crazy circumstances where she accidentally gets a job she has no experience in and has never in her life considered, becoming Luca’s boss.
They work closely to solve a crime and through the long days and time spent together they fall for each other. Belle threads carefully because she knows she is keeping a big secret from him that would ruin anything they could ever have happen.
Meanwhile Luca puts himself at her feet.
In working to solve this mystery, Belle learns a lot about herself and the reason how she landed the job in the first place. Maybe it wasn’t as unforeseen as she thought.
We see a lot of the characters from the first book and meet new ones as well.
This is a standalone but more appreciated if they are read in sequence.

I love the play in their identities, the little miscommunications of who they are, the confusions and the Nona stirring the pot all along! I have to say Steph and her Crazy made me cackle more than once, I want a Steph in my life.
Bella and Luca are awesome together and the comparison to the film You've Got Mail had me cos I love that movie too...

4.5*

Part one of trying to catch up on my reviews for books I read when exam season started in December and couldn't seem to find the will to write a review for!

This book was capital A Awesome. And I'm totally not being influenced by the fact that the fmc is Portuguese and I'm a self-centered little imp.

However, I have conflicting feelings about this, because I wasn't sure if I should feel anxious or attracted. The wonders of a secret identity trope. That's why I had to sadly deduct .5*, since I am always merely looking for a fun silly time and this had me going through a small rollercoaster. One of those made for kids, but a rollercoaster nonetheless.

Addressing the elephant in the room: the conflict was Utterly Ridiculous. However, against my better judgment, one of my favorite hobbies is screaming at a main character JUST SAY IT. In this book though, I felt even more anxious than I usually feel with this trope because of Luca's trust issues from previous shenanigans.

I'm not sure if the author herself is Portuguese, or if she had someone who is Portuguese share some thoughts for this book, but I can't stress the relief I felt when Belle mentioned she could understand what Luca was saying since she could pick up on other romance languages pretty easily. As someone who cringes every time any Italian, Spanish, French etc. is used in novels to confuse the fmc (not pictured: me on the other side of the screen doing mental gymnastics to translate what was said), I felt very seen.

And that's it! Wait, what was that? You came for my expertise on spice, not to hear me talk about good plot? Well, that kind of hurts my feelings. Except it doesn't. The spice in this was BONKERS. The spice was spiceing with no spice spiceing. We were getting stolen touches, lip brushes and sweet kisses on necks and backs that were making me feel goosebumps unlike many full-on spice scenes I've read before. Which led to The Real Deal being an absolute joy to read. THIS, ladies, is how you drag out sexual tension to keep the reader on their toes and build up to that first scene.
Her mouth hangs open. I reach my hand and graze my thumb against her bottom lip, pushing it up to close it. Her eyes fall shut at my touch. Then without thinking, I bring my thumb back to my mouth and taste it. Humming, I smile.

I feel like I am so incoherent in reviews of books I enjoyed, because I really don't have much to say other than READ THIS. IT'S GREAT. HERE'S A BULLET LIST OF EVERYTHING AMAZING ABOUT IT. So, I'll just try to drive the point home by mentioning how funny the writing was, how the banter was nice and snappy, the spice was deliciously subtle, and how the sweet moments gave me a tooth ache:
"Luca, I'm falling for you. Hard." Luca's eyes soften for the first time since we entered the room, the rough alpha exterior fading away. "Bella, I've already fallen. I've been waiting for you down here."

That's it! Thank you Britanée for writing this wonderful story, even if it made me question my sanity from how quickly I was jumping from biting my hangnails with anxiety to fanning myself over some spicy banter.
And I look down at our feet, tap my toes together, and make a wish that every day will be this good.

Swoon alert! Kisses Sweet Like Wine contains a book boyfriend you can’t help but fall in love with.

Luca/Luke may have his moments as a ‘cocky, smirky, insufferable man‘, as Belle puts it, but when it comes down to it, he’s full of heart and has his eyes set on Belle from the moment they meet.

Belle herself is a beautiful soul. A character you’ll adore from the very first page. She’s fun, flirty, passionate and extremely relatable. The kind of girl you befriend and never let go of.

The slow burn love story between these two will have you laughing, swooning, frustrated and in aww, but no matter what, you’ll be hooked.

There’s also the added bonus of crime solving antics, meddling family and lovable secondary characters.

Packed full of laughter, emotion and heat, this beautifully written story by Brittanee Nicole is definitely worth a read.

I can’t wait for more books in Brittanee’s Bristol Bay Series.

This was a fun read, i loved the enemies to lovers romance they had.

Everything surrounding the job is very FICTIONAL so don’t expect any realistic aspects surrounding that topic.

Omgosh this books is pretty amazing! Luca is swoon worthy and Belle is an amazing woman ready to put on the perfect heels to conquer the world (I need my Red heels btw). They are perfect for each other. This story has me on the edge, a little bit antsy, breaks my heart a little and put it together again. Obviously I end again falling in love with a Britanée character!

I love seeing Charlotte and Jack again here. And I’m so ready for Amelia and Nate’s book.

The second book in a series, the author definitely does not disappoint. Belle is super smart and stylish but has got to be one of the most quirky characters I have ever read. She lives in a retirement community, though she is nowhere near retirement age. She takes a job as a private investigator due to a case of mistaken identity with absolutely no clue how to do the job, but her "fake it until you make it" approach combined with a truckload of luck actually makes her somewhat good at the job. Her partner, Luca, is an amazing man who really wanted the job and the raise that came with it to help with raising his little sister. The antics they get into are hilarious. They face crazy cases, meddling grandmothers, and attempt to stay one step ahead of each other while trying to deny a growing attraction. I loved this crazy, chaotic, romantically hilarious page-turner of a story and I know others will too.

This book captured me right from the beginning. I fell in love with Belle so fast. Grieving the loss of her grandmother, Belle returns to the states and ends up landing an apartment in a over 50’s building. Her neighbor, an Italian grandma, Carmella will leave you wanting her to be yours! I love Carmella and all of her surprises and the icing on the cake was her trying to set Belle up with her grandson.

A little white lie won’t hurt when Belle lands a job as a private investigator knowing nothing I’d what the job entails. But the perks, a colleague who is easy on the eyes and very hot to look at, Luca.

The banter between these two will have you laughing so hard, swooning and wanting more. This is a great 2nd book to this series that will leave you trying g to figure out what happens next. Enemies to lovers, office romance and a rom com all in one. Perfection. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Belle has been down in the dumps since her aunt died, and now she needs a fresh start. Moving into an age 55+ community was not what she had in mind (and a total accident), but she has to admit she loves her pesky and caring Italian neighbor, Carmella.

When Belle is offered a job at a firm, she signs up without realizing what she’s getting into. And now she has a very attractive assistant who wanted the job first. Now Belle must solve the case without anyone realizing who she is, and avoid Luca’s smoldering stare. Maybe she should let Carmella set her up with her grandson after all…

Holy. Freaking. Cow. I am absolutely obsessed with Kisses Sweet Like Wine, and Brittanee Nicole’s writing in general. I adored Belle in the first book, and I was so excited to see that she was getting her own story. This book did not disappoint!!! Belle is everything I could’ve wanted in a heroine, and I related to her so much it’s not even funny. She’s so kind and selfless, and witty and confident as well.

Luca. Oh my gosh, I have so many words about this man!!! He is a dream. An absolute dream. Yes, he makes mistakes, but he does his best to fix them when he does. And he can speak in Italian!!! I just love him so much. Their attraction was so incredibly obvious, and I was just waiting for them to realize it too. This book had everything: laugh out loud moments, swoony romance, hella hot steam, and the perfect amount of angst. I could not recommend this enough!!!

So much fun! I enjoyed the first book in this series, but I really loved this book. There's romance, laughter, crazy neighbors, unexpected opportunities…. overall it was extremely entertaining. I love when a book can make me laugh and cry and this book delivers. Our heroine Belle/Izzy gets herself into situations that don't always have a clear escape. She's trying to do good for herself as well as her friends. The author also does a nice job of setting situations up for future stories in this series. I will be looking forward to future entertaining stories! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Just like the title this was a sweet story. Love at first sight for Belle and Luca not that either of them will own up to that. Belle has a lot of secrets the biggest being that she isn't a PI. The story was witty and the two main Characters keep misreading each others actions but I enjoyed being a long for the ride. The Italian Nona Carmella was a lovely addition to the story with her meddling. I look forward to reading the next instalment of this series.

Good romantic comedy
4.5
I really liked this romantic comedy, tender, cute, humorous and light with a touch of hot scene between the characters. It is definitely the character of Bella who is the most surprising given that from the start, she finds herself embarked on playing private detectives by taking the place of a real detective.

Wow...I really really enjoyed this!!!

This book was the 2nd book in the Bristol Bay series and features Jack's cousin, Belle, and ex-cop turned secretary Luca.

This book was sooooooo good. Omg I loved Luca ... and I thought Belles antics were hilarious!! Belle inadvertently found herself with a new job as a PI for a law firm when actually going in to settle her aunts estate. Thinking it was all a joke, she accepts. Then she meets Luke, aka Luca. She has just taken the job he'd hoped he would get. He had to start at the very bottom after being taken advantage of by his father.

Belle's neighbor Carmella is a hoot!!! I loved all the characters in this story... and I cannot wait to read Amelia and Nate's story next!!

I recieved an ARC for my honest review.

This was a new author for me.

It took me a bit to get accustomed to her writing style, and once I did, I found myself wanting this story to move forward faster. I did enjoy the HEA… I thought it was cute.

While this story is okay, I'm not sure why I got to the end and was so-so about it. I think Bella should have been more honest. Truthfully… was nothing problematic about this book, but nothing was remarkable about it either.

I'm not unhappy I took a chance on this one. It was a okay read. I wish I liked it more.

Kisses Sweet Like Wine was hilarious and had me laughing out loud in many parts. I could easily put myself in the story like I was there right alongside the characters (well some of them if you know what I mean). The storyline was easy to follow and had me interested from the beginning. The way the two main characters (Luca and Bella) is what made the book. The banter, sarcasm, and sexual chemistry between those two is what made the book so hilarious and memorable. I can’t wait to read what happens next.

Hysterical, Well- Written Rom-Com with Heart!

This book has it all - witty banter, an hysterical meddling grandmother, swoon worthy hero, an amazing shoe collection (and who doesn't love shoes?), supportive friends and Bella who gets herself into crazy situations but has a heart of gold. It is the second in a series and although you don't need to read them in order you will definitely want to. Luca is perfect for Bella and the reader is really drawn into their story. I can't wait for more in the series!

Ok no. I wanted to read this book because it was described as a romcom-enemies to lovers kind of story.

It's not. It's not romantic (just because at the end there's a couple it does not equal romance, worse if the characters doesn't have chemistry apart from the fact that they are hot for each other).

It's not a comedy (I didn't laugh once. Most of the things that were supposed to be funny were actually annoying or just plain ridiculous).

It's definitely not enemies to lovers (when were they enemies?, a couple of harsh comments??? That's it?).

For me this book was a mess. It tries to be a lot of things but it doesn't deliver.

The relationship between the MCs was a lot of hot and cold, and the end it's just ridiculous with the reverse apologies (big spoiler --- yeah, I don't believe it was the H work to take the steps to get back together).
The added "enigma" about the email pals was just unnecessary and, again, ridiculous and predictable.
The lost of life direction of the h was frustrating to say the least (everything has to land in her life and she just go with it, even the relationship).
The PI work was just a filler with a lot of paperwork and a unproductive golf day, nothing exciting, nothing funny (unless you count the meddlesome friends, "haha"...).
The " mastermind big plan" to unmask the bad guys (please just insert an eye roll emoji, I don't know how).
The lack of proper communication... just meh.
The unexciting sexy parts... I won't even go there.
And finally the extensive, needless and, frankly, annoying insertion of other couples stories to try to entice the victim, I mean, reader, to check other books of the author.

Nope, just, nope. I only got to the end skipping pages and I'm sad because I was really hoping for a good read.
