I wished more than anything that I didn’t have to. But my twin sister is getting married in Russia, I have to be there. To distract myself from the mind numbing terror, I let myself give in to my curiosity and approached a handsome stranger in the airport. What’s the worst that could happen?
Bad things happen to those who defy me.
She’s innocent and sweet, not cut out for my world. That doesn’t stop me from claiming her. She unknowingly approached one of the most dangerous men in Russia in the middle of an airport. Who better to protect her than me?

TROPES: -mafia -age gap (22h, older H) -chance encounter
Anya is on her way to visit her twin sister in Russia, who is getting married soon. She’s accompanied by her sister’s bitchy best friend. Anya is terrified of flying, but tries to keep calm. At the airport, she sees a tall man who dropped his passport so she retrieves it for him.
That man turns out to be Nikolai. A Russian mafia boss whose own jet is out of commission. He’s intrigued by Anya, who knows only a few words of his native language. He instantly wants to comfort her and comes up with a way that works! He gets her seat upgraded and soon, they’re flying to Russia. He does a great job of distracting her by kissing her. 🥹
Soon enough, they land and go their separate ways- Anya off to visit her sister, Niko off to do mafia boss things, but he makes it his mission to find her when he’s done because he doesn’t want to let her go. Bad things happen, but Niko is quick to save Anya. They get closer. Much closer. 🤭
I ate this book UP! Read it in one sitting lol. I ADORE ANYA. She’s shy, naive, innocent. Literally the perfect heroine (to me lol). Niko is 100% devoted to her and protects her. It was such a sweet read, the spice took me by surprise. Especially the underwater scenes. 👀🔥
Alas, there were some things I didn’t like. One, it took the whoooole book for Niko to tell her what he truly does for a living. 🫠 Two, bad things just kept happening to Anya so it got a bit repetitive. Three, the way she lost her virginity to the hero. 😭 But I genuinely loved this book so much. 💗
SAFETY: virgin heroine, previous manwhore hero OM/OW drama- but it’s very light, nothing serious. no cheating/sharing triggers- attempted SA (not by hero), kidnapping (not by hero) kinks: bdsm, spanking, rough sex, breeding, dry humping, praise/good girl HEA 🖤
This was the book that never ended. I kept thinking we were done and I’d look down and see that I had 30%, 20%, 10% left to go. Yeesh, land the plane, already.
Anyway… on paper this should have worked for me. Virgin h, experienced older H…. He’s mafia but she’s a regular gal…. The Cinderella trope… All my kind of thing…
But alas, after the silly but adorable meet-cute, the mafia hero turned into the sweetest mafioso who ever lived. To offset that, the author tried to have him do evil things like kill innocent people on a whim, but that didn’t really help the vibe. He just seemed inept, indiscriminate, indiscreet, and immature… all really bad characteristics for a mafia don. 😂
Anyway… there’s a whole boatload of reasons why this story didn’t make much sense and was just over the top silly and not very satisfying… the whole evil twin sister situation was annoying af… and him making his own sister the heroine’s protection detail just because she was bored 💀…. I just can’t. 😂😂
Anyway… if you like very safe books, instalove, and sweetheart mafia guys then this will be for you. If you don’t, then YMMV. 😵💫🫣😆
(Yes I should have known by that cartoon cover, but I was hoping for a happy surprise for New Years! 😅)
Anya has to travel to Russia for her twin sister's wedding, problem is she's deathly afraid of planes. Nikolai is returning to Russia from a business deal in the US, problem is his private jet is experiencing engine trouble. A chance encounter, a random act of kindness and their two words collide.
****** This had an OTT possessive, protective Alpha H with a very shy, sweet virgin h......this should've been perfection to me. Problem was.....it was way too long for what it was, so to keep it going everything just kept escalating which quickly became annoying
Prime examples The h is innocent and shy and sweet, their meet cute really was a meet cute 🥺 then......she goes to her TWIN sister's wedding and the groom tries to rape her, the sister comes in and attacks the h and throws her out of the hotel.....no money no clothes nothing.....in a foreign country. Her TWIN sister who she'd always been close with 🙄 from there the h cried at the drop of a pin, she wasn't a fan of confrontation but whew girl chill.
Of course her circumstances enable the H to come get her. He's a gentleman mostly.....holds of on taking her virginity.....then over drinks and does it anyway 😒🙄
The h was told to rest so much I and all got cabin fever, all she did was rest while he was out doing business 🙄
The h ends up forgiving her sister pretty easily and that pmo. The sister spoke to her like a servant in the beginning, forcing her basically to come Russia for her wedding when her sister was deathly afraid of flying. Then this bitch attacked her sister because she thought she was trying to be with her sleazeball fiance. Girllllllllll
The H sets his sister to be with the h in Russia, after we'd been through a kidnapping and rape attempt these two decide to go off recklessly into a dangerous situation 🙄
Just some of the little annoyances that spoiled what should've been a book that was right up my alley
All in all I'd probably try this author again, maybe
**** Mafia Violence Virgin h (very innocent and naive) We get a comment about the H having had different women but his history wasn't rubbed in my face so I was good with it Slight OW drama from a maid OM drama in the sense that the h's sister's fiance tried to rape her.....he ended up headless 🤭 loved that for him
I literally read this is one night. Sure, it's very unrealistic with Anya randomly bumping into a mafia man in the airport, but I think the ridiculousness of the premise is what drawn me in. I wish there was an epilogue though.
I hardly ever read books with cartoon covers, but the blurb sounded right up my alley, so I decided to give it a go and I’m glad I did! Was it a literary work of art? No, but I enjoyed it for what it was. Some light reading with an alpha Russian mobster and a naive, innocent heroine. We get plenty of action, romance and smut. Quite OTT and instalove, but that was just what I was in the mood for!
Safety: - OW: one of H employees wants him and says something by nasty. Totally minor thing, she gets dealt with. - h’s sister’s fiancé wants h. He tries to rape her. He also gets dealt with 😏 - No cheating - Short separation / third act break up. Both miserable during this time (it did annoy me the H let h go super easily..WTH?) - Attempted SA and kidnapping. Blood, violence and gore.
Anya and Niko’s story was a pleasant surprise. For a mafia romance, it was definitely on the lighthearted and sweeter side. There was still some blood and violence of course (nobody messes with Niko’s woman) but it was not as dark as most mafia book out there.
Slightly over the top, it still had a balanced paced that made me believe. Anya was a bit naive when it came to Niko and definitely too trusting but Niko didn’t abuse it. He cherished those aspects of her personality.
I would have liked to know what happened with the best friend and to get the apology from Nina but overall I am satisfied with how the story unfolded.
Decent, quick, fast paced mafia book. The h was a bit of a naive idiot, but she was likeable enough it didn’t annoy me too badly. The H was instantly obsessed with her and super possessive and controlling.
Dual pov Age gap h22, H?? Don’t think exact age was given No omd/ No real owd- a maid is bitchy to the h once Third act separation- a couple weeks I think, both loyal. HFN engaged No epilogue
Really really good, but some of it doesn’t make sense.
I really really enjoyed this book. I know I probably shouldn’t as Niko is beyond controlling with Anya and it has some major plot issues. Still loved it though. Anya’s twin sister Nina is getting married in Russia, and demands that Anya goes there. Anya is really introverted, really shy, and is terrified of flying, but makes the effort for Nina. When she’s in the airport, she meets Niko. Niko is a very bad man. He’s a Russian mobster, who deals in drugs, and guns and anyone who crosses him is killed. Yet when he meets Anya he is so sweet to her. He helps her with her fear, and then helps her in Russia when something happens to her.
When she’s staying with him in his home, he’s very controlling of her. I’m not sure what she does all day. As they start to fall in love, outside threats realise that Niko has a weakness in Anya. A weakness they’ll think nothing of destroying.
Plot errors; The biggest annoyance, (For me.) WHAT DOES NIKO LOOK LIKE? We have a gushing description of Anya, but no clue what Niko looks like! In the beginning of the book we meet Niko’s sister Eva. He think about his brother. We never meet the brother, so where is he? What does he do? What is he like? Then later on he thinks about his brothers. Plural. I thought he only had one? Where is his dad? He’s never mentioned. Anya and her twin sister Nina’s relationship is really weird. The author tells us over and over. that Anya and Nina are really close, even though though they are complete opposites. So when Nina is getting married in Russia and is an absolute bi*ch to Anya (When Anya flies there to help her, even though she’s terrified of flying.) l was a bit perplexed. Even more so when Anya just lets her treat her like a slave!! Why, when they’re so close, is she allowing her to treat her like that??? They keep having unprotected sex. Is Anya on contraception? Spelling mistakes, lots of them.
Yet I still loved it. Why? This authors books have something about them. Something that makes me forget about the mistakes and enjoy them.
Anya wants her sisters wedding to be everything she imagined but she is worried she wont be able to make it to the wedding herself. Anya has an intense fear of flying and the wedding is not in New York but in Russia.
Nikolai is one of the most feared men in Russia and when his private jet is not able to take him home he finds him on a commercial flight. Then he meets Anya, she is timid but has no clue who he is and peaks his interest. Finding out she is scared of flying, he remedies that and realizes she is not just another beauty he can toy with and decides he plans to court her but Anya finds herself in a bit of trouble and Nikolai is doing his best to protect her. What happens when she finds out who he truly is?
I enjoyed this one, very fun. The story did have one thing that I was a little off on understanding but overall it was entertaining.
Anya is a typical sweet and shy heroine, while Niko is a feared Russian mob boss. They met by chance on their flight to Russia from the US where it was Nina's first time on a plane. Niko upgraded her seat so they were sitting together in first class. Nina goes to Russia to attend her twin's wedding but things happened and the wedding never materialized. It's a nice fluffy romance with little mafia action but I think it leaves a lot to be desired, especially Nina and Anya's parentage. Eva and Niko's sibling dynamics could also be improved more.
My Mafia Protector started out as a cheesy love at first sight story, between a tough as nails, soft-only-for-her mafia czar to a naïve Russian orphan traveling for her twin sister's wedding. Anya suffered through a fair amount of emotional abuse by the people around her until things got even worse with an attempted sexual assault. After her rescue things got pretty quiet with her and Niko just hanging around the house while she's still clueless about what he's involved in. Then it gets even more violent and cruel.
2.5 stars The H was ok, even for a big bad mafia guy, people do mess with me. The h though shy and sweet as i like them was at times too tstl and idiot to like. She ignored the H's when he asked her to stay back and also at times was too timid to set people straight. The sister was irritating i mean she was let off easily after the way she acted and did not like her. Same with the H's sister she was brash and idiot, i like women strong but not to the cost of their mental stupidity.
Did not expect to love and enjoy it. Their entire first meeting until on the plane is a *chef kiss* would definitely finish in a day but was too busy i had to put it down UNWILLINGLY. Will read it again.
I’m so glad I found you. I’ve read all but one of your books. I’ll be starting that shortly. I really enjoyed “My Mafia Protector “. Please continue this series. K
Actually stopped this at 75%. Biggest cry baby FMC. Super V--no kiss, nada. Of course he was a manho3. Kept going bc he was SO sweet with her and it was nice to read but after the one million and fifty sixth tear fell down her cheek I was done.
Okay so I cruising through the internet and read I few lines of this book and I was tempted to read it. So I tried it after one chapter I was sucked in not released until the last page. Great Book! Great Read! Great Fun! Bring on some more!
Started yesterday night, just finished it, loved the book. It was an easy read, honestly a one sitting kind of read but I was extremely tired but even then I had trouble putting it away. Loved it!
