While visiting their friends Chase and Haylee in Alaska, Don and Samantha learn of the EMP attack on the lower 48 United States on October 28th.
Having been spared the devastating effects up there, the four of them rushed home to Michigan to ‘rescue’ their parents and bring them back to Alaska—3,000 miles each way.
Travel with them and see through their eyes what might happen to our neighbors if the greatest country on the planet was caught by surprise and knocked to its knees…
Things won’t go as smoothly as expected, they never do, but you won’t believe the curveballs thrown at them from virtually the moment they leave.
Join them on an adventure different from all the others,
In The October Fall World.
The author of this story, Keven Craven, is a third-generation disaster fiction storyteller offering his first published work here. If you’ve read much in this genre, you’ve probably read some of his dad’s stories, Boyd Craven III, or his grandpa’s, Boyd Craven Jr. They couldn’t be more proud of him!
This is titled "Alaska Fall", but other than the start and very end of the book, it is not in Alaska. On the drive from Alaska to Michigan, whilst the group knows that an EMP hit America, they do not have any technical effect from it other than stress. There is a lot of lag on this journey and for most of it, the main issue is vengeful criminals stalking the cars and corrupt police. I was astounded by the bullish refusal of Samantha's mother to consider leaving for a safer place and even more by Samantha refusing to leave her mother to the extent of be willing to separate from her husband. The ending is improbable with one group taking on a much larger predatory group and the other's making it back to Alaska. Most of the book was getting from Alaska to Michigan, but the way back was apparently a snap. This ends very abruptly. I don't know if this is part of an "Alaska Fall" series, but if it continues, it is reasonable to assume they will leave Alaska again.
This book definitely is a page turner. Having spent a lot of time traveling some of the same roads and areas used in the book definitely helps the story. As I was driving home last evening, I was looking at signs for the Clio area that I missed traveling the last 40 plus years. You did a great job of keeping the story flowing, plenty of action and the characters are excellent. Keep up the great work. I've been reading your Dad's and Grandpa's books for years, glad to see the tradition continues. We will definitely have to give you a nickname like your Dad's if you keep this up. Thanks for an excellent read, looking forward to reading more of your books.
Loved the narration from Miles Meili. He brings out the characters, action, suspense and brought out the book. Perfect.
While Chase and Haylee in Alaska, visiting Don and Samantha, on the last day they learn of the EMP attack on the lower 48 United States on October 28th. The four of them rushed home to Michigan to ‘rescue’ their parents and bring them back to Alaska. There was friendship, loyalty, forgiveness, excitement, fear, tension and love.
There a two family that are up in Canada visiting around , but a EMP went off in the states some of effects them there also . But that is just the beginning of trouble for them , then things got really strange for them all they water was to go home maybe. Thus is were the author keeps wanting more as well as keeping you reading more. Great job with the book.
Nope. People in Canada, the very day after US hit with EMP turn into maniacs and attack Americans. I can't believe that based on my interactions with Canadians. I'm sure they have their share of jerks and killers, but, the 1st day after the EMP, and those guys are organized and marking Americans trying to leave their country?!?!
This series is so intense, even though it’s written by different authors. Each and every book has been so insightful of the people and circumstances, and what they’re dealing with. Let alone their alternate reality. Great Series.
A great addition to this series! This is a new author to me and I’m impressed. I love this series and fortunately for me it isn’t a horribly long time between the different books. Keep them coming folks…please!
The trials they went through were very different than the other books but so well done. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Some decisions made were what I would say were very idiotic but that's human nature. A definite recommend.
Great book and helps you learn if you are new to prepping & prepardness All of the characters were well written and likable for the most part. Definitely interested in reading and/or listening to the rest of this series. I would definitely recommend it. Narration was great.
There were a few things that the characters made a mistake experience that I would have done different. But then I have 30 years of Marine Corps training and experience.
Wow! A great, plot and fantastic characters. I was immediately drawn into the story, and became immersed into the world being created. Great first novel.
Like this one better than the originals. Built in the same ‘fall’ universe this was more my style. I like the whole Alaska/Canada adventure and enjoyed the second half
3.5 stars. I always enjoy a good post-apocalyptic dystopian story. Fun plot, writing was just alright. Left with a good cliffhanger and will definitely keep reading this series.
Why was it called Alaska Fall when it took place in Michigan ? Decent story though good characters and loved their development with the current situation due to EMP attacks by Russia
