James Acton Thrillers #7

The Circle of Eight

Rate this book
ABANDONED BY THEIR GOVERNMENT, THE DELTA FORCE'S BRAVO TEAM FIGHTS TO NOT ONLY SAVE THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES, BUT HUMANITY AS WELL.

Bravo Team is targeted by a madman after one of their own intervenes in a rape. Little do they know this internationally well-respected banker is also a senior member of an organization long thought extinct, whose stated goals for a reshaped world are not only terrifying, but with today's technology, achievable.

As Bravo Team fights for its very survival, they are suspended and left adrift without their support network. To save themselves and their families, markers are called in, former members volunteer their services, and the expertise of two professors, James Acton and his fiancée Laura Palmer, is requested.

It is a race around the globe to save what remains of Bravo Team, as an organization over six centuries old works in the background to destroy them and all who help them, while it moves forward with plans that could see the world's population decimated in an attempt to recreate Eden.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Kennedy's books are full of adventure, with great characters and lots of action. Every time I read one of his books I am amazed at his ability to come up with new storylines without the books becoming repetitive.

The James Acton series is now up to 37 books, hopefully I will get them all read eventually!! This series revolves around lost archaeological treasures with inventive political storylines woven into the story. This is one of my favorite genres (I have two other favorite series of this type). Kennedy has other series involving some of the supporting cast in the Acton series as the main characters.

The books in this series can all be read as stand alone novels, and the author weaves in just enough background to keep you from feeling lost without using backstory as filler. I am usually fairly rigid on reading a series in order but I do not mind doing so with these.

Another roller coaster ride! Reading these series is like eating peanuts. One is never enough and it's difficult to stop until the bowl is empty (or the last page is read, in this case). This time the focus was mainly on the Delta team with Jim and Laura taking supporting roles. That's ok with me this time as it all seemed to fit nicely together. The action was improbable, fast paced and impossibly fun. I'm so happy this is a long running series as it will serve as an adrenaline boost for quite a while to come.

I love reading about secret organizations and how they're brought down by their arrogance. James and Laura are drawn into danger, not by a fellow archeologist, but by their friends and frequent saviors, the Delta Force team. After all the times, the team has rescued James and Laura, it's their turn to repay them.

If you like page-turners, edge-of-your-seat thrillers, you have to read this series. Like the rest of the books, this is a stand-alone. But it's always fun to begin at the beginning and read them in order--not that's that what I've done. LOL

This was my favourite James acton book so far! I love seeing delta force, reading, and our favourite professors working together (with a little facilitation by Kane). I especially appreciate the open ended nature of the plot that would allow for later instalments.

The premise of a secret society of doctors is an interesting one, although their exact plans and what this catalyst is is never really explained, which in some ways only adds to the suspense and feeling of being on your toes.

Another great action story by Robert Kennedy. The author has a way of writing that puts you right in the middle of the action. Trying to help the people in trouble. For me it was a great read and I found it hard to put the book down.
I recommend this book to any action book fans, it it well worth the read.

Delta Force and the professors are at it again. This book has Delta Force as the main focus with a little, very little, help from the professors and Reading. I love the Delta Force characters so I enjoyed this story. The 4 star rating was due to the ending. Anticlimactic with unanswered (perhaps cliffhangers) questions.

Book 7

Book 7 was a fun read and had errors throughout. The plot was a bit slow and not as exciting as previous books. The characters have developed well and are fun to read about. The overall had a few twists and unexpected outcomes, but overall was a fun read. I look forward to the next book.

This was excited from the beginning to the end. Couldn’t put this down. Was up half the night reading and glued to the pages. There is action, surprises, comedy, laugh out load parts. Love the series. Excited to start the next book.

This is the second in the series and doesn’t disappoint. The Shadow thriller captures the old time radio show with a modern twist. Definitely a summer read, like a summer movie blockbuster. I really enjoyed this book and hope there will be a third one.

Kennedy is able to keep the plot moving with plenty of surprises. Character development over the series has been exciting.

Another exciting, fast paced thriller involving Professors Acton and Palmer. Of course, they also involve the men of Bravo Team, who are required to save the professors lives once again.

Very good book! A few small plot holes.. you'd think he'd (by book #7) be more careful of that... but overall a great read!

This was a quick and exciting read. I will continue to read the series, the characters are likeable enough... the descriptor of a combination of Indiana Jones and Jack Bauer is appropriate.

another good book by Patterson however not one of the best. I enjoyed seeing how relationships continue to develop and the humour and banter within the delta team. I enjoyed how the story line tarted and how it affected te delta team personally. however after that I can't say I enjoyed much. Im not sure why reading, Acton and palmer were involved in the story apart from their information on the Rosicrucian's. and how a picture of them with a cube that we still have no idea harvests what powers nearly ended with them being kidnapped raped and murdered. it'll be interesting to see if this story resurfaces later in the series as I feel it's unfinished. a bit like the triarii.

Interesting Delta Force Story

Good action story. Delta Force exacting revenge for the death of a member. Blowing up places and cars but the real story is the family sticking together and winning

Another plus

I have enjoyed reading this authors series of novels, they are imaginative and interesting. My main complaint is that the "good guys" go way beyond normal capabilities way to often.

Better than usual Acton thriller, but the version I read had about a tenth of the number of listed pages. Maybe a condensed version on Kindle.
