QUINN VASQUEZ has always believed that Cassandra Diaz was just a girl in her head, a personification of her deepest, darkest thoughts—but she was wrong. Cassandra is real, and she’s only growing stronger. Quinn is convinced that she was involved in the disappearance of one of her closest friends, her leads taking her beyond the Metropolis’ bounds, straight into Cassandra’s territory.
She shares her mission with Julio, a boy with the same determination to stop Cassandra. However, he has a few quirks of his own, mainly concerning his past with an ex-lover. He remains secretive about the topic, and only shares his life in obscure little pieces. His world is a deep, mysterious ocean, and Quinn is no longer sure what she’ll find if she dives in.
In the quest to stop Cassandra, travel beyond bounds to uncover more secrets the Metropolis keeps hidden.

HONEST Review: I was having a lot of trouble with the first book, trying to figure out what was going on. It felt a little dragged out, as if nothing was making sense. I was on the verge of dnfing it, but after about 100 pages, I got the hang of it. I finally understand everything that was going on. But then again, I couldn't understand the story in the next few pages.
But as soon as I started reading the second book, all of the issues I had with the first, vanished, since everything made sense immediately.
The two books are easy to read. I read this for 5 days? Not because its slow but because I have chores to attend to. I'm on vacation now finally and I'm the one who is assigned to clean the house and cook so the only free time that I can only read is in the afternoon (if I get the work done immediately) and at midnight.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. The character development is excellent, and I can't put it down because I'm curious as to what will happen next in the line of events. I'm excited to read the third book. I'm patiently waiting hehehe 😁
Thank you to the author for giving me a copy of the book for an honest review.
The first book ended on a cliffhanger, and Quinn Beyond Bounds, the second book in the series, has provided answers to the true identity of the characters, Cassandra's motive, Quinn's role in the Metropolis, a hint on who the Author might be (gender-wise). The story had flashback scenes that one of them answered the cliffhanger on book one. More characters were introduced who were important in Quinn's journey to stop Cassandra of her evil plans.
I was just thinking, if Quinn's friends have communication with their parents, why doesn't she? I guess it's just me, but I got quite confused with some of the new characters when they appeared again.
This book has more beautiful illustrations by the author which makes me admire her talent for she is the writer and the illustrator of her own books.
Après avoir fini le premier tome de cette trilogie, je n’ai pas perdu de temps pour me lancer dans sa suite, question de connaître la suite des aventures de Quinn.
I was asked to beta read, and frankly, I couldn't wait to talk about this book, SO I'M HERE! Please note that some of the things I'll discuss may differ from the final version, and that no matter what, I am always honest with my reviews!
I read the first book, Quinn and The Metropolis, and was impressed by how intricate the world building is and how absolutely fun it is to follow along Quinn's adventures. Given that, I was excited to jump into the second book because YAY, I'll have some answers to all the cliffhangers from the previous one...
... And I did get some of them, but ALSO, I got more. Way more. I'm happy to report that this series remains consistently strong in plot, and my goodness, the layers of conflict are so mind bending, making me half scream / eat my hair. (Don't eat your hair.) Reading this made me want a live-action and a map and a superpower and everything altogether!
There are some issues to fix with the details of world-building and characterization, but I'll have you know that the author is working on them RIGHT VERY NOW so it will be perfect come release date! Speaking of which, I am so looking forward to that—I'll get to see the art, and the rest of the world gets access to this Filipino YA fantasy that's deserving to be picked up by many to get lost in (but not confused!). Even at this early point, I'm sending my congrats to the author. Keep the Metropolis alive!
