Warren Court is the author of the Aubrey Endeavours Spy Thriller series, the Armour Black Psychic Mystery series and the Vincent Last thriller series. Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Warren lives in Toronto with his wife and daughter. When not writing he spends his time cultivating cold hardy palm trees and working on old cars.
Even though he seems to be quite the prolific writer, I had never heard of Warren Court, nor read any of his stories, before downloading this one as part of a promotional bundle. Into the Abyss is listed as being a stand-alone novella, book 5 in the Aubrey Endeavours spy thriller series, but from the way it ends it could very well have been the prequel to the series.
Into the Abyss, at 112 pages is a quick read, but an exciting read. Tying Aubrey’s flight across troubled waters in a Lockheed Model 10 Electra to Anelia Earhart’s ill-fated flight on the same day in an Electra was a nice touch. Aubrey was supposed to shadow Amelia and use her flight as a cover for her spy flight if confronted by the Japanese. Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men.
If you are into historical spy fiction, you will enjoy this one.
This series gets better and better. I was lucky enough to read an advanced copy of this book and loved it so had to buy it when it came out. Aubrey and her co-pilot are flying over the Pacific on a secret mission for the Americans and also following Amelia Earhart's flight as cover.. Unfortunately the Japanese are not fooled. This is a great mix of historical fact, conjecture and a great spy story, with an exciting plot, lots of action and drama, conflict, capture, daring escapes and a great ending. I really recommend these stories, they are always well written, well researched and believable.
A very interesting novella. It is a different take on the mystery of Amelia Earhardt's disappearance (spelling is wrong; my apologies to Amelia). Court's writing is such that I was easily able to visualize the scenes/activities in this book. I was not expecting this story line.
An interesting mix of actual events and fiction gives the novel the right content for a realistic read. Well recommended for anyone who enjoys historical fiction.
This is an award winning story. Heartbreaking, exciting, dangerous, inspiring. I had to finish it no matter what. This is one of Aubrey's most effective adventures yet. Stunning, dynamic, perfectly written, and a nail biting experience. WOW. Very Highly Recommended.
