Wholesome 🥺

Short and oh so sweet novella. It wasn’t as spicy as I was expecting, but it made up for it with sweet moments. Roen was such a lonely but eager monster, all he needed was someone to give him a chance and Krue did. Krue gave that gentle big boi some dick affection and it was game over for them both.

The world building was done surprisingly well for such a short book! I wanted to see a bit more of Krue and Roen together, but that’s because I’m a sucker for Monster/human relationships and the cultural differences that come along with it. However, it was a solid, cute, and complete story.

This was fine. I wanted a bit more backstory (because what is hinted about Kure is intriguing), a bit more caretaking from a life-threatening injury (that somehow doesn’t deter our MC from getting a good dicking), something a little less instantaneous. I’m disappointed that our virgin monster was a suave lover, and the lack of instruction after him saying, “you’ll have to show me”. There was also no description of monster peen :( But I appreciate the utilization of the tail.

This started out interesting but hit a few of my pet peeves. You get caught in a bear trap, and that same evening you’re having a sex marathon? There were lots of really interesting leads that didn’t go anywhere. Overall it was just underwhelming.

This is a quick read, with a virgin monster, which I kinda loved. Krue, has been surviving on his own since his mother died, living a very lonely life and hiding who and what he really is from humanity. He saves Roen, a human who is lost in the wilderness, and nurses him back to health.

These two were so sweet together! I enjoyed them. I wish there was perhaps a bit more attention to their backstories? To really flesh out the story and give some added realism to it all. (Also I feel like the injury Roen received would have been much more serious than being able to walk around the next day lol)

All in all, very sweet, and a quick read. I will definitely be on the lookout for more mm monster romance from this author.

I received an ARC of this novella in exchange for an honest review. I love all of RK Pierce’s work but this one is the perfect little novella. I don’t know how she does it but for 60 pages, we get so much information about each character and she makes us feel all the feelings. I immediately fell in love with Roen and Krue. I am so happy they got their happy ending 🥰. Heck I’d fall in love with a monster in the woods too if he was this sweet (and sexy)😂.

It was a very quick and shallow MM monster romance. I had expected there to be more tying back to the hunters in the forest, but it was a very quick insta-lust to insta-love and an HEA. It was pretty unbelievable how quickly the MMC Krue was able to walk and run on a leg that was destroyed by a bear trap which some some "traditional" pain killer medication. I also wanted to learn more about the hidden monster society and where they came from - the worldbuilding was incredibly surface level.

R.K. Pierce’s writing is just flawless. The characters are perfect, she describes the setting with enough detail to not leave you needing more information but also not making you feel like you’re only going to read descriptions, and the romance and spice is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. The burn is slow enough that you don’t feel like you just fell in a vat of fire with no storyline, but when it happens…🥵🥵🥵

Worthy of Love and Companionship

Short and Sweet MM Romance. Two wounded individuals finding love and companionship where they least expect it. Krue is out backpacking cross country when he finds himself in a dire situation. Thankfully Roen was out for n the woods after patrolling the area.

Both Krue and Roen were dealing with their own issues. Krue escaping from an abusive ex feeling as if he isn't worthy of love. Whereas Roen as been living alone and isolated in his monstrous form for nearly 2 decades.

Krue and Roen's relationship went from strangers to lovers and companions. Krue found a safe haven and someone to show him real love and Roen found love, companionship and someone to dote on ending his life of loneliness.

This was a short and sweet novella of second chances, trust, romance and accepting the fact that you are worthy of love.

Roen and Krue were actually so precious. This book really was very wholesome and I really truly loved every second of it.

If you are looking for an extremely short wholesome, mid spicy book then I recommend giving this a shot. I highly belive you will not regret it.

K. R. Pierce is one of my insta read author's for a good Monster Romance's and this book is one of the main reasons why. The author never seems to not write a good book!

🍀 - Lengthy Review:

I mainly only related this book 4/5 stars because of how short it is. The book is 60ish pages and 10 chapters long. It felt extremely short to me, even for a novella.

I also gave this book 3/5 chili peppers rating because it felt mild to what I'm used to. Especially for monster romance stories.

But the spice was in face their. The tail scene especially shocked me in the best way. (Where can I find myself a Roen?"

Other than that the book was definitely worth the read. I absolutely loved these two and they were the most wholesome and adorable characters ever.

I really wish I could read more of these two lovelies!

About The Book:
Living a life of solitude in the woods is weighing heavy on Roen's heart but everything changes when he stumbles upon a badly injured human. He has to make a decision on whether to risk his exposure to the human world or let the human die. I'll let you see the rest for yourself.
What Will Stay With Me:
The message that no matter what happens in your life or what you go through or how people treat you, you are still worthy of love and that not everyone is going to treat you that way so if you feel it, it's always worth taking a chance on love.
Review:
As with all of R.K. Pierces books I loved it. It's a very short read but sucks you into the story immediately. It was just absolutely all of the cute and then some and I really felt for both of the characters and what they were going through. I think everyone knows both of their pain to some degree and that's what makes this story so special. Not to mention it was hot as sin. I don't often read MM and now I feel like I've been seriously missing out and reading this while I was out and not in a position to get any was a severe lack of judgement on my part.

Monstrosity is an urban fantasy MM Monster Romance novella. Krue has little to his name but he’s running across the country to escape his troubled past. While hiking in the forest, he gets caught in a bear trap and is unable to escape. When Roen scents blood in the air, he’s driven to discover the source and finds Krue. As a half human-half monster, Roen has never fit in anywhere and he longs for companionship to break up his lonely isolation, so he chooses to rescue the human and help him recover. When Krue wakes up, they both realize they have undeniable chemistry but are they both strong enough to go after it??

This novella was absolutely adorable! RK Pierce managed to pack a bunch of emotions into a short read and I really enjoyed it. Krue and Roen were absolutely wonderful together and I loved their relationship. I really enjoyed the fact that they each had strengths to bring to the relationship so they could learn from each other and grow together

Overall this was a solid three star read for me - super cute and packs a punch for a quick read! Given the length of the book, there wasn’t a lot of smut, but what was there was definitely a good time - two flames for spice!

If you’re interested in a super cute instalust MM monster romance with cinnamon roll MCs, horns and tails, & finally finding the home your soul craves - definitely check this one out!!

This packs the punch of a full length novel into the word count of a novella

RK Pierce is a new to me author so I had zero expectations going into this beyond an abiding love for monster romances. I am so glad I read this and I will definitely be filling up my kindle with more of their books. Wow. The first thing I'll say is that novellas are incredibly tricky in my opinion - you're wanting to tell a story that gets people in the feels but you've got so little space to actually do it. As a result, I honestly don't expect to get hooked with characters in novellas. I'm not saying I don't but I don't see it as a pre-requisite to enjoying the book. Let me tell you, I was hooked with this one. Roen and Krue were such lovely characters. I wanted to wrap them up and protect them and show them that they deserved everything. They're such sweet people despite having not really having been shown the love they deserve. I'll admit Roen was definitely my favourite (although Krue was in a close second). He's just so gentle and kind, so willing to show love to others despite people not having done the same. I was really attached to both of these guys by the time I finished and I honestly would very happily read a full length novel about these two. Suffice it to say, I will now be doing a dive into all of Pierce's other books!

DNF @60% ... SO disappointed. I generally avoid reading mm romance written by primarily mf authors as I've yet to come across any that actually work for me, and this one is no exception. I tried it despite my misgivings because there just isn't enough mm MONSTER romance available, lol, but nope. It's not for me. As another reviewer pointed out, the wound treatment (minimal, with no real attention to the risk of infection or the blood loss) and the way Krue, who was the one hurt, actively just... walks around on it thanks to a little bit of pain killer (no broken bones from the homemade bear trap? super unlikely)was almost enough to take me out of the story before we even got to the romance. But that? What even was that? I am ALWAYS down for well-written instalust, but I need something emotional (lol, or biological, not the case here, I digress) to justify it. Romance isn't romance if I can't feel anything from or for either character, and this author did not deliver. I neither like nor care about these characters, so they're about to get it on, and since I'm not in the mood for PWP, I'm out at 60%.

Lots of great things smooshed into a 60 page snack! This was a high emotion, fast paced, quick burn MM monster romance and with that in mind it’s 5 stars. I think if I had gone into it not realizing it was short I would’ve been disappointed because I really wanted so much more of Roen & Krue. There’s a big time gap between the last two chapters that I would’ve loved to be a fly on the wall for but honestly the fact that my only complaint is wanting more isn’t going to take away from my rating lol.

I really enjoyed Roen, I am such a sucker for sweet monsters and he gets extra bonus points for being a very eager to please virgin. Krue is very relatable with his emotional baggage — def check the content warnings before diving in and I would add “past cheating” under the abuse tw — and I liked the inner turmoil that was explored. It was real and heart aching. I’m honestly impressed with how much longing was jammed into this snack-sized read. And I’m looking forward to reading more from R. K. Pierce in the future!

I really enjoyed this one! Krue and Roen were so hot and sweet together and I loved their short little story. My only wish is that this was just a touch longer. I felt like we got such a good plotline but I was longing for some more backstory to explore the scars, both physical and emotional, that brought these two together.

We got some fantastic tropes in this one–brief enemies-to-lovers, instalust, a virgin MMC (we really need more of this, I loved it!), and some spicy, spicy tail play. R.K. Pierce is a master at the monster smut and this one certainly brought it, even if it wasn’t the predominant focus. From the very start, it was clear that Krue and Roen were meant to be together and I really enjoyed watching how this story unfolded along with their deep desire to take care of one another. While brief, there still was a ton packed into this novella and everything we got was so well done. I’ll definitely be adding more R.K. Pierce to my future monster TBR.

Monstrosity was such a cute monster novella. I really enjoyed reading about Krue and Roen. It had a little enemies-to-lovers and instalust going on which was really fun. I especially loved that Roen was a virgin MMC, we just don't get enough of those in my opinion.

I loved the main plotline of Roen saving Krue's life and them both having literal and metaphorical scars from their pasts. I do wish this book was a little bit longer so that we could have explored those more. Their chemistry was great and was instantly clear they were meant to be.

The ending was so sweet. I loved the bit right before the epilogue especially, I can totally see Roen doing this and it's perfect. So happy these two found their happily ever afters!

With this being my first ever dive into MM I have absolutely nothing to compare it to. But as always with Rori's novellas she leaves me begging for more🧎‍♀️

I loved Roen and Krue, the circumstances to how they met, and their banter was great. The tension was fantastic between them and I'm honestly praying R.K Pierce will write a full length MM book in the future.

If you like monsters, tails and spice, then this is the novella for you. It's fast paced without being so fast paced you lose yourself, and as always the world building is incredible!

Deliciously short and spicy.
I 100 percent thought I picked up the wrong book but a hot guy getting lost in the woods is a solid start to any book. I just didn't expect hunky monster man to be in the woods.
Why? I don't know and it doesn't matter because he was and he's the hero Krue deserves and needs after everything he's been through.
Roen is definitely a bit naive about things but that makes his feelings so much more raw and he feels so genuine in the conflicts he experiences regarding finding Krue.
The intimacy runs quick, insta love at its finest and most delicious. With the way they experience each other, I don't think insta love could be avoided for these two and it's so lovely that there's butterflies in my tummy at the memories!

A cute, spicy little novella. Very, very quick read with a lovely story. The characters are sweet, both lonely and end up finding each other in an unexpected way. Despite the brevity, you do feel as though you get to know the characters through brief exposition as well as how they treat each other.

Roen & Krue had great chemistry and the spice was good and explicit, plus there was tail-play.

I did wish it were longer, but I think that's just because the characters were so likeable and the story engrossing.

If you like surprisingly sweet monster romances and are especially looking for something quick and dirty, this is right up your alley!

Monstrosity is a quick, yet sweet mm monster romance. Roen and Krue are *sigh* 🥹🥹 This one had a bit of instalove, and it was perfect for them since Krue is running away and Roen just wants to have someone to see him for who he truly is.

I have enjoyed all of R.K.'s previous short reads and she packs everything you would want into them. Because Monstrosity was short, it's not loaded down with 🌶🌶, but what is there is 🥵🥵🥵

I would love to read more on these two, but it was left with all the warm and fuzzies and nice little bow at the end. I have absolutely loved everything that R.K. has written and I cannot wait for all the books she has planned!

Monstrosity is short but it packs a punch. We meet Krue as he's traveling solo through a forest before finding himself in dire straights. When he's down and desperately in need of a save, he finds it in an unlikely place.

This tale is about daring to look beneath the surface of another person and about deep, aching loneliness. But don't worry, it's very sweet and hot as well. Krue and Roen may have both come from traumatic backgrounds but they just need to face down their fear of vulnerability to embrace their need to experience kindness from another being. Human and monster were both strong, and broken, and sweet, and needy. This was a great short story.

Monstrosity was a fast paced M/M romance that gave me all the feels!

Krue is on his own, recovering from a failed relationship, trying to find his way to whatever home is to him. Roen is a monster who has lived in solitude because humans will fear him and monsters don’t accept him.

It was just by happenstance that they cross paths and the TENSIONNNN! Oh, man! I love a good “I hate you but wanna f*ck you” trope, and this really fit the bill. Roen is such a marshmallow beyond his “rough” exterior and I really loved how open he was about his feelings. I love him so much.

This was a great, quick read that made my heart happy. I recommend!

I seriously love RK’s books! This was no different, and I was sad when it ended because I wanted more of these fabulous characters! That being said, it’s excellent for being as short as it is. Even when I’m not in the mood for monster romance, when I get an RK book I get lost in it almost immediately. The way she is able to write so much into such a short story always floors me. This may be novella length, but there are so many feels! From broken characters, and mildly spicy scenes—still super-hot and sweet—to tail play, virgin heroes, and cinnamon roll guys, this is a must-read if you are on the hunt for a MM a monster romance!

Oh my supplier of monster peen has done it again… this woman and her novellas yet again she’s given me something I just couldn’t put down 🔥.
Town broke my heart a little at first, that monster just needed someone to give him a chance, someone to love him. Then along comes Krue. The human that Roen saves but I think Kure saves him right back. Krue takes reins virginity but he gives him his heart in return. These two we supper cute and I missed there was a way to see them again.

I really liked this monster novella. It has a slight enemies to lovers and instalust happening too and a virgin MMC.

Roen and Krues story was super sweet. I liked the plot line and the need to take care of each other. I only wish the story was a little longer so we could see them getting to know each other more, but I was really happy to see them both get their happy ending and finding love.

R.K Pierce writes the best monster smüt too and that was a nice addition to this book 😊🥵

This was a cute, quick read. Idk how R.K Pierce is constantly able to make me feel for these characters, but here we are getting teary-eyed for this lovely couple on my break at work.

I loved every page of this. I wouldn't mind seeing this couple in another book. They're absolutely adorable, and the steam was perfection 🥵👌🏻

Why can't men like this exist? I mean, I'd totally take one with horns and a tail for some of that action and devotion 😮‍💨

This MM monster novella is soooo good!!! I loved it! Roen is so sweet and you can tell he's craving love. Meanwhile, Krue has a difficult past and has trouble accepting love. I adore them both and their relationship is just adorable! The spice is right for a book this size. Overall, I recommend this book to anyone who loves monster romance! You'll love it! ❤️
