This was a fun little behind the scenes look at the anime series. I enjoyed getting to see interviews with the cast, crew, and original manga creator. I also got a kick out of looking at the story boards and the side by sides of characters in different episodes. I feel like I should do a rewatch.
What can I say it’s a behind the scenes of the anime and it does it job like it should. I really enjoyed the interviews with the voice actors and which roles they played before I didn’t know Henry Henderson and Kenny Ackerman have the same voice actor that was a fun surprise and I also enjoyed the interview with Tatsuya Endo (the creator of the manga). I did sometimes wonder why they only included the Japanese voice actors but then I thought about and it makes sense because they made it in so many languages it makes sense to interview the people who made the original voices. Overall I enjoyed it a lot and the artworks are fun to look at as well.
I love the Spy x Family manga. It is inventive and exciting. The anime was good too. Spy x Family: The Official Anime Guide is a very methodical and dry guide to the characters and the production staff that put together the anime series.
While I didn’t find much to enjoy in Spy x Family: The Official Anime Guide, I can see it appealing to artists and those interested in the nuts and bolts of how an anime is produced. The best part for me was the twenty-one page color gallery. It showed images that I had never seen before of the family advertising various things. The brief two-page guide to the characters contained nothing that even a casual viewer of the family would not already know. However, the staff portion of the book consisted of interviews with the voice actors, producers and even the original manga authors with their thoughts on the anime adaptation. Throughout the book are sketches and illustrations of the characters and even the set backgrounds from the anime. These would be excellent for artists eager to replicate the characters at home.
Overall, even though I didn’t care for the tone of this book, I suspect other readers will value its content. 4 stars!

Spy x Family: The Official Anime Guide―Mission Report: 220409-0625 is a fantastic behind the scenes and guide to the first half of the first season of the Spy X Family anime.
The book contains character models for all the main characters (and some minor ones) as well as backgrounds, locations, props, storyboards and more. It has an episode guide and loads of great interviews with the Japanese voice actors and production staff.
The book is well laid out and full of information, also getting Endo's view on the anime was a great addition. It's only weak point is that it only covers half of season one, which means some major characters are missing. Thankfully there is a second one coming.
If you are a fan of the anime or Spy X Family in general, this is a must.
I've watched the anime first so I'm familiar with some of the things presented in this anime guide. Some interesting things here are getting to know the process of making the anime, how the seiyuu's impressions are, even interesting characters according to the mangaka, the fillers of the opening and ending songs, and the director of the anime. What's impressive to me is still Mr. Handerson's 'elegance' words hahaha
Very decent. It's extremely image-heavy, but I found that the interviews done with the cast members were interesting to read and the highlight. I was hoping there would be more behind-the-scenes stuff. I guess I've only really read these types of books when they're made after the series/movie is completed/further along in production, so there's more to talk about in them.
Screenplay, character study, dubbers and soundtrack, plus a whole series of beautiful full-color drawings, for this handbook illustrating the first season of the anime. Only for aficionados of the manga, like me.
Screenplay, studio dei personaggi, doppiatori e colonna sonora, piú tutta una serie di bellissimi a disegni a colori, per questo manuale che illustra la prima stagione dell'anime. Solo per aficionados del manga, tipo me.
I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.
