Lacey Stokes is the younger sister of Parker's best friend.
That means she's off-limits. Bro code and all that.
Something he failed to remember the night Lacey and Parker tumbled into bed together.
Now they're on their way to LA to start their own band, having made a pact that it was only one night and from now on, it's friends only.
Problem is, Parker wants more. And he's pretty sure Lacey does too.
One more night can't hurt, right?
This book contains hot rock stars, a guy who is in love with his best friend's sister, a band determined to climb the charts, and a small town hero who will melt your heart.
Rock Star series in reading Before the Band Why Can't We Be A Way Out Too Little Too Soon All Keyed Up
MMC/FMC- Parker and Lacey POV- 3rd person Genre- Rockstar Romance Sub Genre- Contemporary Romance Heat level- Vesuvius! The chemistry is off the charts and the erotic scenes are volcanic hot! Series? Y Cliffhanger? N HEA/HFN? Y Triggers- explicit erotic content Tropes- Brother’s Best Friend/Best Friend’s Little Sister, Friends to Lovers, Forced Proximity, Forbidden Love What I liked- I love this book. The MMC and FMC each had their own insecurities and the other supported them and they lifted each other up. The relationship started off with a bang in the book, but had been building for years. I really can see them going the distance. The process of creating the band was fun to read, and each of the band members would make for interesting characters in their own respective books. And the love scenes were hot and tender at the same time. What I don’t like- the only thing I don’t like is that I can’t read this book for the first time again! Verdict- Highly recommended. This book is pitch perfect.
“One-night stands were the only kind of non-relationship he’d ever had.”
After reading, and loving, the series prequel, Before the Band, I was really looking forward to getting started with Why Can’t We Be. Unlike most rockstar romances the band doesn’t even exist at the beginning of the book. Instead we see it slowly come together. It’s cool because we actually get to start two separate relationships develop at the same time, the band and Parker & Lacey’s love story. I really wanted them to figure things out as they were clearly soulmates. I actually got kind of annoyed at how the both acted so stupid sometimes. Ultimately everything worked out like it was supposed to and as a bonus, we got to catch up with Sam and Holly. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series, apparently Oz is next. I can’t wait for Travis to get his own book. He seriously deserves a love story that ends with HEA.
Lacey’s had a crush on Parker since forever. He’s gorgeous and sexy. He’s also a very talented bassist and right now he’s in need of a lead singer. When he looks at Lacey and gets the big idea, she can sing. He knows she can sing because he’s attended all of her high school plays and she was even on Broadway, or close to Broadway. That night was perfect, she sang her heart out and afterwards she went home with her crush. These two are so cute together, like little kids in love. I really liked how they went to start a band and things just fell into place. I already love the rest of the band, especially Oz. I couldn’t put this book down, it grabs you and doesn’t let you go. When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. This story is hot, spicy and mostly it’s romantic. I’m giving this book five stars and highly recommend it, I’m pretty sure the rest of the series just as awesome.
Wow, just wow! I truly enjoyed Lacey and Parker’s story. They were raised very differently, but Lacey’s parents gave Parker guidance from the time he became, Sam’s, best friend. They both had feelings for each other, even when they were very young, but finally just told each other. Their new band mates are getting in the way of their love. They figure out what’s the most important in their lives. I love the other characters in this series. Can’t wait to see more from them.
This was a good book. I enjoyed this book, The story was well written and held my attention the whole way through. The chemistry between Lacey and Parker is noticeable.. The commitment that they have for the band is wow! I liked seeing how their relationship develops and how it turns out.. I can’t wait to continue reading the series..
This is a good take on how rock bands are formed. This group did not start from someone’s garage, but the h’s brother mansion. Even though Parker and Lacey had feelings for each other, they didn’t act on it because Sam and Parker are best friends. Then they did and the rest is history. Their band is taking shape also. I just wish there’s more about their relationship.
Missed the other band with Sam and Holly so wasn't expecting a different band. Its a good story and it went smoothly. I felt too much credit was given Travis to stop a band just for him. Sam's dad would have been a great help for them. Now for the next story.

REVIEW Parker has been in Lacey's life a long time, he is her brother Sam's best friend. But Lacey has had a secret crush on him since she was a young teenager.
When Parker asks Lacey to go to L.A. she is onboard after them having had an EXPLOSIVE night together... Now he wants to be only friends? hmmm not sure that is how it works lol
Now that these two are building a band, will it put their fire out? hmmm well grab the book and find out. I enjoyed these two, it happens in life, so it makes their story all the more real!
