Anticlimax took away from it.
I liked this book for most of it, but it was very anticlimactic. Tons of build up, then it just ended and summarized what should have been the climactic chapters in a "looking back" brief epilogue with a short bland sex scene to follow. The book was fairly steamy before that, but building slow as if towards something truly spicy, a full scene or something, but it never happened. I didn't like that Alba never stood up to her father, she just "proved herself" as of she hadn't been doing that for years already. We get told about the antagonists' commuppance instead of getting to be shown it. Basically, what should have been the last 20% of the book happened in a few pages in the epilogue. Plus, the twist most readers likely guessed was just blandly mentioned in a few sentences right at the end, none of the satisfaction I usually feel at being right about it was granted.
It felt like the book was underdeveloped, like it was 80% written. So I'm giving 80% of the stars because that 80% was great, and just going to imagine the last 20% and keep that star for myself.

Wow, what a fantastic storyline

Alexa great book
Very defy book yet the plot was very well brought out. I wouldn't have minded a few more sexy stories from the dungeon maybe book 3.

Book 1 a good read. An amazing author who flips you a thrilling novel. About to read book 2. Really hope not to wait so long for novel 3.

4 ★ | Alexa Woods is definitely up there with the best for me. Plot was invigorating. Main characters likeable and had perfect chemistry. I loved the angsty elements and the loan shark was a well executed villainous touch. Brilliantly done Woods.
