It wasn't the greatest of romances but it was a good one. I loved how they came together and the slow journey into love. There is no grand passion but such a steady true connection and you could feel it. They married as a convenience but they really were well matched. An ex suitor shoes up and tries to sow discord among them, and did but then it actually brought them closer together. Another villain shows himself and causes major trauma, but we still get the sweet HEA. Chaste kisses only, but you could feel their attraction. That little zing they had when touching. As I said quite enjoyable.
What a wonderful journey of adventure, mystery and romance
This story is absolutely amazing, interesting and entertaining. The characters are indeed very interesting and the story line is very entertaining and full of adventure and mystery with all the twists and turns throughout the story. It’s definitely a must read for all the thrilling events and mystery keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end. The extended epilogue gives it a wonderful happy ending to all the characters. Highly recommended.
I loved Andrew and Cecilia’s story. She was a spinster with a secret and he an Earl who needed to sire an heir. When his Aunt Judith set up a meeting to meet one of Jaspers cousin, Marina for a potential bride he never thought he would become attracted to her sister. Cecilia was a spinster and has no qualm about it but when she met her sisters potential husband she felt drawn to him even though he was unconventional. A wonderful story for two souls meant for each other.
I really enjoyed this story. It is well-written and keeps the readers' attention. Cecilia's sister, Marina, was expected to marry Earl Andrew. It was to be an arranged marriage and Marina was very unhappy because she believed she was in love with someone else. In the end, Cecilia agreed to marry Andrew in Marina's place. Whilst it was a marriage of convenience, a spark developed between them, due to their shared interest in history. There are family secrets and personal secrets which threaten the revelation of secrets and as well as danger. Will Andrew and Cecilia be able to move their relationship from being a marriage of convenience to being one full of Love? Read on and enjoy.
How would you feel if a man tells you he only wants to marry you so his aunt will quit telling him that he needs to get married? This the case when Cecilia Rice meets Andrew Follet, the Earl of Hawkins. He assures her it will be a marriage in name only. She is a spinster and had given up on marriage. This story is so much more than what it seems. Both Cecilia and Andrew have secrets waiting to be revealed. You will enjoy this story as the romance develops and the secrets are revealed, but there is also a villain in the story.
Others have done a great job in describing the storyline. The book is well written and well edited, the pacing kept the reader involved and the main characters were interesting (loved their banter). I felt that the H saved the h from a rigid, dull life according to the 'rules' of the ton. He would give them lip service and them lose himself in history research and archeological digs. The h was a closet author with a love for history. their meeting was unexpected and their eventual love was after a lot of work and maturing. They experienced obstacles which helped bring them closer.
What was fate thinking? A marriage that shouldn’t be but one sister will do what she can for the other sister. Two folks who have nothing in common plus a bit of suspense added in can this marriage turn out to be something wonderful? Now the hero of this tale was awesome I adored him. The banter between Cecilia and Andrew was great. The villain was a nasty fellow love how he was written. Love the book it was good story and well worth reading.
A couple of things were confusing. In the first book, the author always refers to the mother as Francis, but in this one, as Franny. I want sure at first if it was the same person or a new character. And would a fine lady such as Cecilia use the phase "God's W..." so much? I thought the word would be profanity back then. And to introduce another "bad guy" at the end was confusing.
Andrew was betrothed to Marina but upon meeting her found they had nothing in common. It was her sister, Cecilia, who drew him. This book was full of consequence and intrigue. Lord Leeson wanted Cecilia. Lord Hatfield was out for revenge. A marriage of convenience turned to love. A must read!
I was really looking forward to reading this, I was disappointed. There was a little suspense, but hardly any romance. Cecilia gets talked into a marriage, The Earl of Hawkins, he makes it known that he is only marrying to produce an heir, well that’s kind of hard when they are never intimate.
Marina was not the woman for Andrew, her sister was. They soon found their joy in each other Unlike many books, however, the story did not end there. There was still a problem to be solved and it was in a very satisfying way. I really enjoyed this book and the characters and the pace at which it moved.
This story shows how an arranged marriage between two people who do feel an instant attraction and hold the same interest can work. Andrew and Cecilia have this and do fall in love.
This is a well written story about a young woman determined to stay a spinster but she married the person that was to marry her sister and they fell in love The characters are interesting and the story entertaining Loved reading
I personally enjoyed this story about Andrew and Cecelia. They truly had to overcome misunderstandings and gain each other’s trust but in the end they have a lovely hea
A unique story, plot and characters this one has. A love of sisters and a need to be oneself. The story is filled with entertaining turns but keep you turning the page.
Never trust an aunt that only listen to herself! She is determined that nephew Andrew in to meet and wed Marina! But her sister Cecilia is there to chaperone, and he can only get Cecilia to talk , very interesting!
Oh, I enjoyed this one immensely. It speaks of infatuation, flirtation, and real love. They pretend until it's true. Villains a try to destroy them even to attempted murder.. Highly recommended for all readers.
I really enjoyed this story. It was well written and very interesting to read. The banter and commentary between Cecilia an Andrew was great. A perfect ending.
Wonderful writing, this story has excellent twists that keep it exciting. The hero has a charming personality which makes him very agreeable to the heroine. The heroine claims to want to be a Spencer but ultimately marries the hero.
This is a wonderful book. I loved the characters. Even though I was given a copy of this book by the author, it in no way influenced my opinion and this is my honest review.
Marina is an absolute cow. Just expects her sister to fix all her problems at the expense of herself. And Cecelia falls down more than anyone I know (into the lake twice, plus other places).
So they meet, marry, live together and then he gets hit on the head but still not much romance, in the Sam amount of time I read this book I could have had a good nap!
