She introduces herself as Xandria Bernay—but that’s not her real name. And you’ll never find out what it is. So don’t even try. In any case, Xandria has just retired from her dangerous career as an intelligence operative for an agency so secretive even the Vice-President of the United States doesn’t know of its existence. But after sixteen years, she’s had enough! A woman can only take so much of trying to save the world every day while evil people shoot at her from helicopters. Perhaps not surprisingly, however, she’s having just a tiny bit of trouble adjusting to life as a civilian…
Carmen Randazzo is co-owner of Mer Pacifique, the best pâtisserie in Southern California. She has also just gained entry into the mighty Vanessa’s inner circle of Carlsbad lesbians…thanks to Diane Keaton. It doesn’t bother her at all that she’s the only one without a regular girlfriend. However, the chance meeting she just had with a striking woman in a home improvement store may change all of that… If, that is, the striking woman plays the little game Carmen set for her…
Soon, Xandria finds herself with a girlfriend who can’t know anything about her past, while Carmen finds herself with a girlfriend who seems to have a few secrets.
“Never Call Her A Spy” is the eleventh entry in Sabrina Kane’s popular Carlsbad Lesbian Romance Series. In its pages, you will find lots of laughs, plenty of romance, more than enough steam, and the most action-packed opening in a Sabrina Kane novel since “No More Wasted Time.” And, of course…a lovely HEA to leave you smiling.
Xandria retired intelligence operative is now living in Carlsbad free as a bird. Carmen is a business partner with Ariel at Mer Pacifique. When Carmen and Xandria meet they have an instant attraction and wicked chemistry! From just their first kiss you knew it was going to be fucking epic when they get into bed together 😏 and it is 🥵🥵🥵
With her training as an intelligence operative, Xandria decides to open a Krav Maga studio in Carlsbad, fair to say Xandria is a little in over her head when it comes to starting the business as she is absolutely clueless about anything in the world after spending the last 16 years of her life working for The Division.
I just love how clueless Xandria is, having to decipher what JSYK means in a text is hilarious. Also when she goes to Lowe's to get paint for her new studio, it's priceless.
The unconventional way they tell each other that they love each other is so fucking adorable that it made me soooo unbelievably happy 😍
I hereby announce Sabrina as the #QueenOfSmut! She can write some of the best spicy scenes I have read!! I love how she makes you unashamed about being loud in bed or for being THAT wet too! Thank you Sabrina for yet gain writing a great addition to the Carlsbad series, can't wait to start the next one 😍
Highly recommend this book and all others she has written!
Star rating. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice rating. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Sabrina Kane is an expert on low angst stories. This one was good, but I didn’t connect with it.
I guess that for me Xandria “not coming clean” with Carmen about her real life was a disappointment. If you want to spend “the rest of your life” with someone you should trust them. I mean if we are talking about “top secret clearance” I’ll understand. Maybe I needed more communication between the MCs.
What do you do if you're a retired intelligence operative? That's what Xandria Bernay has to think about. So, she moves to Carlsbad, California. There she meets Carmen Randazzo a pastry chef, who co owns a pastry shop. They meet at Lowes. Xander in Lowes is hysterical! Xander in real world Southern California is hysterical! But the attraction Xander has for Carmen and vice a versa is HOT! The sex is scorching! I definitely give this 5 stars!
This was a fun drama free read. Even though the writing style during hot scenes isn’t really my style, I enjoyed it all nonetheless. I’ll probably even check the rest of the books, I’m a bit curious about Vanessa’s story.
This is the 11th book in the series. Xandria is an intelligence operative for an agency and is now retired trying to live a normal life. Her POV was hilarious. There was so much she was thinking but couldn’t tell Carmen. Xandrias intrusive thoughts were the best! Trying to live a “normal” life was so difficult for her 😂 Carmen is a French pastry chef that has been mentioned in the past books. They meet at Lowe’s which is another funny chapter since Xandria has never been to a Lowe’s before. I love their chemistry and was sad when the book was over. I know I probably said this before but this was my favorite of the series 😁 Carmen and Xandria were perfect together❤️❤️❤️❤️
I swear every single book just get better. And no two books are ever the same, which can happen in a series all to often. The prologue made me laugh so much…I guess it’s kinda unfunny in what was going on but it just made me chuckle. We have all had bad days but… Loved the MC’s and the way Kane got it spot on with X being so behind on certain things, which also had me laughing. It’s also always good to see older characters pop up. And guess who will become a future one. As for the ILY!!! Just…just do yourself a favour and read it! BUT…I have sooo many questions about Vanessa! So so many! And if they don’t get answered in a future book I’m gonna be hella mad! I now feel the need to go back to book one and search for clues. Dam you are sneaky!
As Ms Kane released 2 books this time I don’t have to wait to drop back into Carlsbad…Be sure you don’t wait long to read this amazing series of books (as well as the Cornwall series) you won’t be disappointed.
Excellent as always. Love the low angst nature of the book. The MCs were both wonderful and chemistry was really strong. Xandria and her fish out of water moments with pop culture was the highlight character for me. The name Carmen did trip me up a little bit because there is another series of WLW books where there's also a Carmen and she's also a baker waking up super early in the morning to tend to her shop.
I'm wondering if we'll get a Vanessa origins story where it's revealed that she really is an alien from outer space or if she also is an Inactive agent in another secret organization.
This was a fun addition to this series. I do like to follow this group of characters and I like that they are quick, light reads. Like most in this series, there is a ton of sex with little relationship development and the L word comes a bit fast. The spy aspect was fun but I would have liked to see Xandria share a bit more of herself.
When anyone asks me for a spicy lesfic recommendation, Sabrina Kane is the first name that comes to my mind. Never Call Her A Spy is the delicious tale of patisserie chef Carmen and retired operative Xandria. Their story is full of mouth-watering delicacies, passionate intimacy, and unexpected humor. I recommend it along with the Carlsbad Village books leading up to this one.
This was cute and pretty funny. Reading through Xandria's transition from operative to civilian - comical! Her and Carmen's chemistry was pretty spicy as well...although I expected no less lol. I enjoyed the action in the beginning...a nice little change-up for the series.
This was so much fun reading. Sabrina Kane is talented at sexy, steamy scenes. I loved the goose chase to find an MC at the beginning of the book. The chemistry is outstanding. I look forward to more books by this author.
Sabrina Kane writes such great characters with fabulous personalities! I loved all of the nerdy references in this one! I have started reading her entire Carlsbad Series and can’t believe I am almost done, these books are great, especially if you are looking for very low angst and a lot of spice!
