The fourth and final book of the series and it did not disappoint!!
Watching the growth of these characters, of their cave of family, is so remarkable. Yes, they grew up fast (some in college, some younger, when the flash hit) and they became battle worn warriors, but through every horrific thing they went through and saw, through killing up close and personal, they never completely lost themselves. They loved, laughed and cried. They were family and their numbers shrank and then grew, but no matter what they never lost themselves. I respect the he11 out of them.
I’m going to miss these characters so much. They became a part of my life as I read their story. Liam, Lillie, Az, James, Michael, Mason, Luke, etc. I could go on and on. But Liam and Lillie’s family were extra special. Their kids and Liam’s brother, James. The way they came together was madness and scary, but they became something very special and central to the group.
I’m glad I read the novella first, because I recognized the people as it went along. But I might reread it again now, to see how far they came since the flash. The flash that changed the world forever. Created by our own government.
If you enjoy Apocalyptic stories, YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
This is the last and final book of this series. I loved all the books. This one is exciting and full of action. Lillie and Asher have escaped from the Infected and been rescued by their friends. Lillie is now home in the caves. Her son has been born.
Big Bully is obsessed with Lillie and intends to find her. He bites Mason during their rescue attempt so he can track Mason back to where-ever they are living. Lillie tells Mason how she and Jeff had a conection after he bit her and that it disappeared when Jeff died.
After Mason is bitten by Big Bully, he and Asher set out looking for Big Bully. Their aim is to kill Big Bully to remove the link between Mason and Big Bully, so he cannot follow Mason home to the caves. They are both protecting family.
Mason becomes totally under Big Bully's control until Myra, another of his kidnapped humans wakens him by burning him. It shocks him back to normal. This reminded me of Shortstop and Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom. I loved that it worked in this story too.
Another group of non-infected join the group in the caves. There are several children amongst them. This delights Azami.
Asher reunites with his family who are found in the most unusual place.
I enjoyed the interaction between all the different characters. It made the book.
If there is a final battle - who will win? Well, you will just have to read the book to find out.
I have read this entire series this week and was hooked from the beginning. I love Ian and Lil and Uncle James! It was a great book with a different take on apocalypse romance but it made it just that much more. The surrounding characters were just as amazing as the main ones.
There are battles against the infected at almost every turn. Avoidance is impossible for the found family, and that’s getting bigger, even with some losses. Lil is still a favourite. Though there are a few characters that’ll stay with her in my memory. This last book has been memorable!
I loved this series. The characters are awesome and so are the stories. I love the way the characters are developed. Her writing makes you feel like you are there. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
I loved every single minute of this story. The characters are written beautifully. Perfect mix of the Walking Dead ; Resident Evil; Hunger Games and Divergent all mixed in with romance you'll love
