To keep customers visiting Rose Cottage Books as the off-season begins, shop owner Meagan Poe hosts the Harvest of Books fundraiser, a monthlong initiative that supports local teachers and boosts sales. The finale is scheduled to be an evening with best-selling author Christiana Rossi. But when Christiana cancels unexpectedly, Meagan and the Rose Cottage Book Club must find a worthy alternative. Meanwhile, Meagan suspects there’s more to Christiana’s story and reason for canceling than she’s telling.

After much coaxing, Meagan and her grandmother, Nell Poe, convince Christiana to visit the island and stay at Nell’s house for two weeks. They hope the change of scenery will help the author work through her problems. However, the situation is complicated. The more Christiana shares, the more Meagan’s heart breaks for her, and the more she prays Christiana can mend her troubles.

Meanwhile, beauty columnist Piper Watts hosts and mentors Northeastern University student Mackenzie Delaney, who has come to Nantucket to complete an internship with the local newspaper. Mackenzie seems like the ideal house guest and mentee, but her needy long-distance boyfriend stirs up drama.

His texts and calls interrupt conversations, meetings, and more. As the month progresses, Piper discovers that the relationship isn’t all roses and sunshine. If she’s to see Mackenzie bloom and achieve her true potential, Piper knows the young woman will first have to make some tough life decisions.

When Christiana and Mackenzie’s stories intersect, they find courage in each other and learn that true strength and change must come from within.
