The handsome and charming Ezra has always been quiet and guarded. With a rocky past, Ezra finds it best to keep his circle small. He only allows those who have proven to be genuine and consistent to hold a place in his heart.
Teagan feels most at home with the small friend group that she adopted by default after finding her place with her brother’s crew. One guy in particular seems to hold her interest more than most but with a complicated situation, Teagan keeps Ezra safely distanced in the dreaded friend zone.
Ezra and Tegan are both left dealing with the possibilities of “what if” when it comes to wanting more. Unfortunately, if they cross that line from friendship into something more, everything around them changes. They have to decide if the risk is worth the reward if and when they fall.
I feel Teagan took advantage of Erza feelings for her. She knew Erza would do any and every thing for her, but she was young kept going to Corey who treated her any ole kind of way. Corey was tripping from the start and Teagan had to decide if she was going to put up with it or not. Regardless of what Shane or Erza thought about it. Erza is a thinker and he's cautious, but when it comes to his mammy he freezers. Why does his mammy thinks he's obligated to take care of them. She was married to their father not him. I'm just happy he stood up to her at the skating rink. He's grown and if anything he can take care of his sister without out her inference. Shane felt some kind of way knowing his best friend is talking to his sister. It took him to be on a date to tell him, he's in love with Teagan but in the back of his mind he already knew that. I'm happy his boys were there from him.
Finally, Kizzie gives us an MC who doesn't have a perfect support family.
I'm learning that under this pen name the readers are presented with sweet love stories with minimal conflict that is addressed with apologies, accountabilities, and positive conflict resolution. KK stories are pretty vanilla and give me cutesy Hallmark vibes. Well Best on Best was more CW but you get what I'm saying things aren't heavy. However, from the moment we bet Ezra we all knew he had more weight than his friends, so I was too excited to read his story. Especially since the FMC is his best friend's sister.
Ya'll Ezra and Teagan did not come to play.
Teagan pissed me off in the beginning because she continued to entertain a toxic relationship with a man who needed his ass beat. Ezra stayed ready to throw hands and Teagan kept blocking him.... until she didn't.
Since these two already have a pre-existing friendship and closeness there was no build up. Once they decided to be together then that was it. Fk what anyone said.
However, Ezra's mama is a problem. She triggers him and sends his mental health into a spiral. This story focuses heavily on Teagan stepping up as a friend and a partner. I enjoyed seeing her protect her man with the same fierce nature that he held for her.
This is probably one of the more spicier books under the Kizzie Kollins pen name IMO.
