Queen Elizabeth II: A Celebration of Her Life and Reign in Pictures

Rate this book
This lavish tribute to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, produced in partnership with the BBC, celebrates her incredible life and legacy in more than 240 photos—including some never-before-seen images.
The longest-reigning monarch in British history, Queen Elizabeth II was at the heart of British life for almost a century. She led a very public life, seen by millions through photographs, film, and television—from the time of her birth in 1926 to the final years of her reign. The embodiment of Britain, she was a constant, knowledgeable presence in British politics and culture since she came to the throne in 1952, through seven decades of change.
This book celebrates the life of Queen Elizabeth II through photographs and stills, drawn largely from the archives of the BBC, the UK’s national broadcaster, and an organization that received its royal charter only one year after she was born. From the Queen's earliest days and first moments of public life to her Diamond Jubilee and  the weddings of her children and grandchildren—and a special section of photographs from the ceremonies surrounding her funeral and poignant images celebrating her legacy—this is a wonderful homage to the most public of monarchs, an iconic figure in the hearts and minds of millions throughout the world.

If you are like me, you’ve made at least 5 passes by this book at Barnes and Noble. On at least two of those passes you’ve picked it up and walked around a bit with the book. You’ve looked at the price, gasped and set it down twice.

And then a unseasonably warm and sunny day in November on payday weekend, fresh haircut, nice nails, feeling very chipper and smart you pick up the book for the final pass to the checkout line.

The book knew it had me with the first pass it took around the store with me at least 3 weeks ago. It just needed to be patient. It knew I would be back.

I will always love the Queen. I will always love Prince Philip. They embody so much of the good life (never mind the privilege - that’s a different convo).

There will never be another like her.

Put it on your Christmas list. Especially if you’re hard to buy for. It is a bit pricey for what you’re going to get.

The biography outlines all of the most important public and many of the private moments of her majesty. I enjoy reading about the life of a well-admired public figure who is also a woman. Some of the images were from an interesting perspective and all of them cast a deep insight into the viewpoint of the media. Truly it was worth my time to read and connect with her words and timeline.

Lovely photos of the monarch with descriptions but I did feel it was a hotchpotch and could have been better.

Well done. A good retrospective of the life of Queen Elizabeth II, from birth at 145 Piccadilly to burial at Windsor.

There are some lovely photos in this book. It doesn’t however include anything from the platinum jubilee which I think is a great shame.

A very tasteful look back on her life of service. Did have a bit of focus on the bbc, but then again it was published by the bbc. Amazing the amount of times she must have been photographed.

The life of this beautiful princess and kind queen is an interesting life as a life was under the lights from cradle to grave and passing through many world events.

This book includes photos for her as a daughter, princess, wife, queen, mother, and grandmother.

Beautiful photos of HM Queen Elizabeth II and her family. I’m the biggest fan of The Royal Family, so I enjoy most books written about them 💫
