A change in location for me – swapping the claustrophobic city air for the beauty of rural Ballyholme, Ireland. And Ciara gets to stay in my central London house for a few weeks, free of charge.
It certainly has its plus points: her unexpected appearance will freak out my pitiful cheating husband, Ryan, and my sudden disappearance should also make him feel guilty for his wandering eye.
But now I learn Ciara has evidence – evidence that my husband is a murderer. And she’s no longer answering my texts and calls. Is this some kind of blackmail? Or if Ryan is indeed a killer, could he kill again?

It was meant to be easy. A change of location for me - swapping the claustrophobic city air for the beauty of rural Ballyholme, Ireland. when Flo fins out that her husband Ryan had an affair with a neighbour, she gets her new friend Ciara to try and turn his head. But Ciara has her own motives in agreeing to Flo's plans. The story covers: deceit, revenge and lies, and there's a few twists along the way. I did not like any of the characters, they were all flawed. The story is tild from Flo and Ciara's perspectives. The pace is steady.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #DianaWilkinson for my ARC of #TheWomanInMyHome in exchange for an honest review.
Flo and Rayan have a marriage crisis as Ryan has an affair with a neighbour. Flo decides to go to Northern Ireland for a while. There she meets Ciara who soon becomes her best friend and they plot together a plan for Ciara to go to London and live a few days in Flo and Rayan's house without Flo present to teach Rayan a lesson.
Was it a decision taken together or was Flo manipulated? And who is Ciara? Does she have a common history with Ryan?
The idea of the book is a bit unusual and raises a series of questions. How can you trust a person whom you met in a pub a few days ago and send her into your house giving her house keys, your mobile, passport and your husband? And why the husband didn't take action against this stranger?
None of the characters is likeable. Both women are very manipulative and the husband is a cheater and a murderer.
In my opinion, the book deserves only 2.5 stars approximated to 3 stars.
This was an ok read but misses a major twist. It centers on Flo, who leaves the UK for Ireland after her husband Ryan cheats on her. She meets a new friends, Ciara, and they make a plan for Ciara to go stay with Ryan while Flo figures out her next move. But turns out Ciara may have ulterior motives.
I didn’t read the synopsis before starting the book and it took me a while to figure out what was going on. Once I did, the story plodded along a bit and I wasn’t really surprised by anything I read. None of the characters were likable- I found Flo annoying even when she was making good decisions. I also thought Ciara’s plan was overly complicated and unnecessary. The ending was ok, but again didn’t really shock me.
Overall, I wanted more to happen in the book but it was a decent read that kept me going with short chapters. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is one hell of a twisted book it's payback time, all girls together, enjoying themselves, can a friend be trusted. Flo Bartlam has no idea what her friend Ciara is up too as she swaps phones, takes her house keys and flies out to England from Ireland. Left with just a burner phone she finds a very disturbing video, her husband might be a cheater with their neighbour Olivia but he was no murderer this takes their marriage break up to another level. Panic buttons are pressed when Ciara doesn't pick up, with all her belongings and promises, on the other side Ciara is ready to rattle Ryan's cage big time and its not pretty as she waits for him to arrive from work he's in for a big almighty shock. Oh wow the woman in my home was not what I expected it to be throughout reading but found I just could not put it down, superbly written right to the end.
Although I picked this book based on what I read in the blurb, and it was very well read by Catherine Rees, it just turned out so utterly unbelievable. The pace was slow and the story just dragged on. I finished it because I kept waiting for something to happen to pique my interest, but no, it just didn't happen.
Flo Bartlam needs time away from her husband after discovering his cheating so she flees to Ballyholme, Northern Ireland to soothe her soul.. Meeting up with Patrick, then Ciara, she makes friends. She then sends Ciara to live in her home in London, seeing it as a way of making life that bit more difficult for Ryan, her husband. But Ciara has her own agenda - none of which Flo is privy to.
Here is an author who knows how to take her readers and turn them inside out! There are so many twists and turns in this one, I was almost dizzy. The puzzles - and solutions - come at speed and they are staggering. Being pedantic, I did puzzle at how Flo travelled back to London having given her passport to Ciara, but that's just me. The end? Shocking! But no spoilers from me. The surprises just kept coming and it was a riveting read from beginning to end. Definitely one to add to your reading list and savour when you read it. 4.5*
Who doesn’t love a good revenge story? This is a Wonderful twisty psychological suspense with plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing. Everyone has an agenda the question is who is telling the truth? Five stars from me!
A few pages in and I really wasn't sure if this book was for me, fast forward a couple of chapters and I couldn't put it down!!
This an original story and the telling of it felt very original to me.
The story is of Flo, a woman who was discovered her husband had an elicit liaison with the next door neighbour, and on the back of this, takes herself to Northern Ireland, presumably to process. The story starts in the thick of this with Flo already being established in Ireland where she has clearly formed strong bonds with 2 friends - Patrick (with whom there seems to be a romantic connection), and Ciara - Ciara starts the story traveling to London home Flo shared with her filandering husband, Ryan. I think my initial reaction to the story was confusion. Ciara's reaction to the betrayal suffered by such a recently made friend was confusing to me, but as the story progressed, it all became clear. With past and present timelines playing out, all eventually becomes clear, and it is a highly enjoyable journey to get there.
Even with my initial ambivalence I am giving this book a 5 * rating, as I enjoyed it so much! It is highly worth the leap of faith in my opinion. Strangely this is one of the few novels I have read where I have no difficulty remembering the characters names - I think this shows that it is highly memorable and as such it will stay with me for some time.
My thanks to netGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
'This wasn't twisty at all was it' she says, still trying to untangle herself from between the pages.
Having previously read One Down by Wilkinson and thoroughly enjoying it, I couldn't wait to get stuck into this one.
Flo, needs time out after she catches her husband cheating, enter Ciara, Flo's new friend who she allows to move into her house whilst she's away to test her husband's wandering eye.
Unbeknown to Flo or her husband, Ciara meanwhile has her own agenda.
Whereas Ryan the cheating husband already has a murder under his belt, or does he?
Narrated from both Flo and Ciara's POV, The Woman In My Home is well plotted, full of untrustworthy characters and full of suspense.
Well that was certainly disappointing. The prologue gives away the near-to-the-end murder so I was assuming it was a misdirection and that the person who gets killed and by whom is not where the author was leading. But nope, it plays out exactly as I'd expected, no surprise. The entire story I found boring, and the main characters were pretty dull as well. They weren't very well developed, I didn't know what really made them tick and why. And the Patrick character was almost just filler. I mean he didn't serve much of a purpose really.
There is a lot to this book so buckle up flow goes to Ireland because she was heartbroken due to her husband Ryan cheating on her. On her first night she goes to a local pub and meets Patrick and sierra Patrick can’t help but notice how similar sierra inflow look and insist they take a gander in the mirror behind the bar when they do float can’t see a slight resemblance. Eventually her and Sierra become quite close and she divulges all her heart break to her and this is what Sierra comes up with the great idea she should fly back to London and pretend to be flow in in a couple weeks Flo can show up and after all if Ryan comes I want to Sierra knowing she isn’t flow then Flo will know for certain he is a cheater and if it doesn’t then she’ll know it truly was a one off and he is sorry. While all this is happening flow and Patrick become closer she is extremely attracted to him and although he doesn’t enable her OCD the way Ryan does she still could see herself being with him but not until she settles everything with Ryan. Unfortunately as soon as Ciara leaves flow gets an email with a video attachment on the burner phone she has because she gave her expensive iPhone to Sierra when she opens it she can clearly see a video of Ryan whose mom died in an elderly home of old age but in reality on the video you can clearly see Ryan suffocating his mom with a pillow. Right away flow gets nervous when does baffled as the hall Ciara has this and why didn’t you tell her before she left this wasn’t a part of the plan but what Sierra didn’t take into consideration was that Flo may be a perfectionist and have OCD but that doesn’t mean she cannot adapt and so once flow gets her emotions in order and except that Sierra has change the plan flow is going to play along because she has written the ending. This is a great book about a woman who gets cheated on in the first person to trust after her heartbreak was double dealing these are just a few of the secrets that come out in this great book The Woman In My Home by Diane Wilkerson and believe me when I say they have some life-changing secrets twist turns.‘s avalanches end it all makes for one great plot. I have read an author summaries word they say the book is explosive but in my experience in reading thrillers this is the first book I have read where that word came up in my thoughts for the review I loved it and think it is an awesome awesome thriller. Another great books by the author I received this book from NetGalley and BoldWoodBooks but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.ggg
Diana Wilkinson’s’ The Woman in My Home is a dark and twisted thriller you will want to read in one sitting.
Flo thought that her husband Ryan was the perfect man – until she realised that her Prince Charming had been cheating on her. Incensed, heartbroken and devastated, Flo needs time to think so she when she befriends Ciara, she decides to freak Ryan out by escaping to Northern Ireland to figure out whether to call time on her marriage while her new friend goes to stay in the marital home in London. It was a plan that was meant to be foolproof – until things took a decidedly sinister and deadly turn…
Ciara has sent Flo a shocking video showing Ryan in the throes of murder. Flo is naturally freaked out and demands answers from her new friend. Answers which Ciara refuses to give as she isn’t answering her frantic calls or texts. Why does Ciara refuse to pick up the phone? Is Ryan a murderer? Does Ciara intend on blackmailing them? And even worse, could her killer husband be planning to strike again and commit the most heinous of crimes once more?
Has Ciara trusted the wrong woman? Just who has she let into her life and into her house?
Diana Wilkinson raises the stakes and ups the ante in her latest unputdownable chiller where the pages just turn themselves. The Woman in My Home is shocking, propulsive, tense and so wholly compulsive you will find yourself completely gripped by this terrifying tale of danger and deception.
An ingenious thriller from a brilliant writer, The Woman in My Home is another hugely enjoyable page-turner by Diana Wilkinson.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book was hard for me at first…. Someone is burying something… we do not know who. As the chapters move forward, we meet our first set of characters… Flo and her husband Ryan seem to have a great relationship until…Ryan does the unthinkable. He has an affair with their neighbor. Flo is devastated and needs time to hunk. She heads to their home in London where two more characters are introduced. Patrick, with whom she seems to start having a connection with, and Ciara. The plan is for Ciara to stay in the house in London while Flo heads back to the marital home so that she can talk to Ryan. There are games being played and you must decide if they are worth it? Why is Ciara pretending to be Flo? But, then Flo receives some videos. Not just any regular videos, but ones that show her husband, Ryan, committing murder. And to make matters worse, Ciara is now not answering her texts or calls. Now the games begin. This is full of revenge and retaliation. It is a thriller that catches you pretty quickly and throws you between characters that you honestly will loathe before it is over, yet it brings the plot together nicely. I almost gave this 4 stars but the fact the author is a brilliant writer that writes gripping novels that pull you in and do not let go. So with that, 5 stars it is.
Thank you to NetGalley as well as the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my unbiased and honest review
Diana Wilkinson's "The Woman In My Home" is thrilling, twisted and unexpected. Diana Wilkinson has done a fantastic job of creating morally grey characters entwined with secrets, and cruel intentions, driven by lust and payback. We have a dual point of view between Flo and Ciara, who couldn't be more opposite. Flo is reeling from the pain of discovering her husband's (Ryan) cheating actions with the neighbour down the street. She flees to Ireland to contemplate and reevaluate her relationship. Her paths cross with Ciara, who proposes that they switch homes, with Flo staying in Ireland and getting acquainted with Patrick while Ciara crashes into Ryan's life in England. What happens when there is more than meets the eye between our characters? Do past events have a shelf life with consequences creeping into the present?
Each character held their own, and the puzzle pieces came together with every passing page. The main plot and the subplot complement each other well, and the association between the characters is well presented. The ending was surprising and rather unexpected.
Thank you, NetGalley & Boldwood Books, for inviting me to read this e-ARC. This honest review is left voluntarily.
murdering. How did Ciara get these videos? How do you live with the knowledge that your husband is a murderer? I felt sorry for Flo. This heroine suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder. I didn't really understand why Ciara was pretending to be Flo. I was interested in what the two girls had come up with. Why are they playing with Ryan? Another mysterious man appears. What is this about?
A very interesting thriller that perfectly answers the question of what revenge can lead to. Here I met two completely different heroines who act for different reasons. One doesn't know what to do, what she should choose. And the other knows exactly what she is doing and what her goal is. I also met two men in love with the same woman. I wondered which one she would choose.
Do you believe that if someone has killed once, they will kill again?
I enjoyed reading this thriller. I liked the ending of this book.
If you like thrillers with good action, an interesting plot and original characters, go ahead and read "The Woman in my home". I would love to read other books by Diana Wilkinson.
The Woman in My Home by Diana Wilkinson is a thriller which is very good. Flo has gone to Ireland on a break after she finds out her husband, Ryan, has cheated on her. While there, she meets Ciara and they take an instant like to each other and become friends. Ciara comes up with a plan to switch homes, with Ciara going to live in Flo's home with Ryan in England, while Flo remains in Ireland. Flo still isn't sure if she will take Ryan back or not. A few days after Ciara leaves, Flo is having second thoughts about this plan Ciara has come up with. Before Ciara flew off to England, she sent Flo some very disturbing videos, and now Flo has an additional issue with Ryan. The book is very well written and is very suspenseful. Lots of twists and the author has the ability to bring the characters to life. This isn't a long read, but it's very good and the plot twist at the end is perfect. I highly recomend it. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC I greatly appreciate it.
I enjoyed this book but found it a little far fetched. Flo is devastated when she discovers her husband Ryan is having an affair with a neighbour. She flies to Ireland to consider their future. She meets up with Patrick and his sister Ciara, who she quickly becomes friends with. After a few drinks Flo tells Ciara all about Ryan’s affair. Ciara suggests that she could fly back and stay in Flo’s house and see what Ryan is doing. Flo hands Ciara her keys, passport and phone and Ciara leaves her with a burner phone. Within minutes of Ciara leaving Flo receives a disturbing video on her burner phone. She becomes worried when she can’t make contact with Ciara and she doesn’t answer her calls or texts and soon realises that she doesn’t really know her and can she trust her? I really didn’t want to like this book with its unbelievable storyline but I had to read it to the end so it was an ok read. Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
A wonderful thriller from Diana Wilkinson which has many twists and turns, with a very unexpected ending. Flo has discovered that her husband, Ryan, has cheated on her with their neighbour. To think where she wants her relationship to go she escapes to Bangor in Northern Ireland where she befriends Ciara. Between them they hatch out a plan for Ciara to stay at her home to get her own back on Ryan and see if he would cheat with Ciara. She however has her own agenda and it very soon becomes abundantly clear to Flo that she has possibly been hoodwinked. With plans and counter plans this quickly becomes a very intriguing storyline, the outcome of which leaves you in suspense and then amazed at the outcome.
A wonderfully crafted storyline by this author which is very hard to put down when you get into it. Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. A very easy and thoroughly deserved 5*
What a wonderful and twisted thriller The Woman In My Home is. It's one of those books that make you think 'what would I do? ' Flo thought that she had the perfect husband in Ryan, until she found out he slept with her neighbour Olivia. Flo leaves and decides to go to Ireland where Ryan is originally from and a place close to her heart. On arriving she meets up with Patrick an old friend and is introduced to Clara and the two women hit it off. One drunken night Flo tells Clara everything about Patrick and their marriage and between them they hitch a plan of revenge.
Clara will stay at her family home with Patrick to see if he will stray again. But just before Clara's arrival she sends Flo some very disturbing videos of Patrick.
Is Clara more than she seems? What is her end game?
A fantastic plot driven novel that you won't see the end coming.
The story starts out with a person male/female, at this point we don't know, burying something.
Flo thought that she had the life she wanted, a good home, a job, and a wonderful husband. But that is all shattered when she finds out her husband, Ryan, cheated on her with a neighbor. She befriends Ciara who at one point shows Flo a few videos of her husband burying a body.
So now not only has her husband cheated on her but is he a murderer and who did he kill? Flo decides to leave for a while, goes to Ireland, and rents a cottage, a break until she can figure out what she wants for the rest of her life, stay married or move on.
In the meantime, she had given permission for Ciarra to stay in her home for a while with her husband. Things don't really go as planned as Ciarra has her own agenda, she wants Ryan, period. You know what they say about karma.
This is another of those psychological thrillers that have a definite twist at the end. Loved it, took a bit for me to get into, but once I did I kept turning the pages! Do you like psychological thrillers, then add this one to the TBR stack you have somewhere! Worth a read!
When I began reading this book, I kept going back to the beginning, thinking I missed something. But no it was the "plot" being played out that had me yelling at my Kindle, WTH were you thinking?!?!?!. Mind you, it was Flo, that I was yelling at. No one would agree to do what she did. Unless. And by the last few chapters, all was made crystal clear. The tag line claims this thriller is addictive, that's true, just like you don't want look away from train wrecks, I couldn't stop once I was caught up in this improbable tale. I didn't give it five stars because of the one person that was going to be hurt the worst, an innocent in this twisted game. Liam.
After her husband Ryan confesses to an extramarital affair, Flo leaves to decide whether to stay with him. In Scotland she meets Ciara, who becomes a good friend for commiserating. Flo then sends Ciara to stay at her house with Ryan to put him 0ff-guard and see his reaction. Also, she gets footage of Ryan committing murder a few years earlier.
This book starts by putting the reader at a loss for the basic plan of a woman sending a near-lookalike woman to her unfaithful husband to see what happens. We get a few details later but it still seems like an odd plan. If you can get past that, you'll find a good read that twists around and seems to show almost everyone's darker side. I loved "One Down" by this author and this book did not disappoint.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion. I read a quarter of this book before admitting defeat and giving up. It's easy to understand that Ryan's adultery could have a profound effect on Flo but the setup with Ciara was so bizarre it completely lacked credibility. Why let her take so many important pieces of paperwork (driving licence, passport) as well as personal items like her suitcase full of clothes - as if someone with OCD would let anyone else wear her clothes?! The swapping between POV seemed to lead to inconsistency; having sent an email to Ryan he replied several times but didn't reappear until the next day. The narrative style and storyline was not for me, I DNF.
Flo is crushed when she learns that her husband cheated on her. She flees to Ireland where she meets Ciara and they instantly hit it off. Ciara has a plan to get the life she has always wanted. Ciara thinks she is the one calling the shots but Flo has a plan of her own. I didn't like how quickly Flo went along with the plan as no way I would hand over keys to my house, car and cell phone to someone I just met.
I like how Flo finally took charge of her life and how she manipulated her husband. The ending was just brilliant. I like that this was one short, fun, engaging read with a unpredictable ending.
The woman in My Home centers around Flo, Ryan and Ciara.
Flo is devastated when her husband Ryan cheats. She flees to Ireland to think and meets new friend Ciara. Flo and Ciara come up with a plan to get back at Ryan. But, it seems that Ciara has plans of her own unbeknownst to Flo.
The characters were all very flawed and unlikable. Normally this does not bother me, but for some reason in this book it did. I think I needed some one to root for to make it more interesting. An okay book but not all that interesting to me. Many other people liked it more than I did, so don't let my opinion stop you if you're interested.
Thanks to netgalley and Boldwood Books for the arc.
Flo and Ciara are the two POVs in this story. They decide to switch places and Flo lives where Ciara is from and Ciara lives with Flo’s husband, Ryan. Why would they do that? Flo has a deep mistrust with Ryan and Ciara promised to help her out.
At the beginning of the book I was a little confused because it jumps right into the story with very little context. Once I figured everything out I really enjoyed the book. The back and forth POV and not really knowing where each woman stood had me hooked. This story is full of surprises and I absolutely loved how the author revealed them. If you love a thriller that will keep you guessing this is the book for you!
This was a quick read, filled with characters that are self absorbed, unlikable and full of personal flaws. However, that helped the story, which would have fallen flat if any of the characters were portrayed as really good people. The events were fairly transparent from the start (I felt the opening chapter gave away too much by the time you got through half of the book) but I kept reading for the little details. The way the chapters were set up was distracting and my one real complaint - we didn't need a new chapter every couple of pages for the same character in the same setting.
