Charlotte has survived transforming into a werewolf, but now she must face her new life and the new world that she has been thrown into. To become part of the pack, Charlotte has to not only prove to the new pack that she is capable, but she must embrace her new beast to survive the Hunt in the Trappers Forest. A forest that is forbidden for most to enter and littered with traps from the past fur trade―but it’s not the traps that scare Charlotte the most, it’s the ghosts that seem to keep following her and Levi, leading them directly to this forest for a hunt that will test her and her beast. Budding love interests, new friendships, and a future pack are all what awaits Charlotte, but what she can’t get her head around is why everyone is so scared of a forest―and why does it feel like rogue wolves are still following her . . .
Z.W. Taylor is the author of "The Bite" series. When she's not writing, she wonders why her coffee pot sounds like a gurgling bogeyman, debates whether her cat is conspiring against her, and fills blank pages with ideas for the future.
The Hunt picks up right where we left off and was an easy transition. I do believe it would be fairly easy to pick this one up without reading The Bite and still enjoy the read…… But of course, me being me I always have to read the previous book no matter if some people tell you that this is a stand alone
I had enjoyed watching Charlotte’s character develop over the last two books
In the previous book Charlotte was Plagued with plenty of nightmares of her Ex-boyfriend,I’m not going to deny that Charlotte still was somewhat struggling with nightmares but just not as dramatic as in the previous book Thankfully she is moving on, in this installment we watched her find her confidence Slowly but Shirley once again
For the first time in her life, she knew what she wanted. The life in front of her had teeth, and claws, and blood
.
Charlotte decides to join the pack and she wants to be a hunter so she has to go through all the steps to train in that haunted forest…. And she had to learn to play with others on her team……. I am really enjoying this series so far!
The author didn’t exactly leave you with a cliffhanger but yet she left you yearning for more I just hope and pray that this author does not make you wait a whole year to get the next installment…..
I went back and reread this one ......... Lord have mercy , I don't know what I was thinking at the time read this one........
The Hunt by Z. W. Taylor was book 2 in a unique werewolf series. I just read The Bite, book one and picked this second book up right away. The first book is a play by play of turning into a werewolf and it was engaging and captivating. I couldn’t put it down. This book is more about werewolves and their lifestyle but it’s also so much more. I just enjoyed the writing. The author gave me a detailed observation of the pack and skillfully executed the characters. The hunt was my favorite part of this story and I’m all in. I can’t wait for the third book. I highly recommend this. Just a side note, I haven’t seen any romance yet in either book, just in case you’re wondering. Thanks Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group via NetGalley.
4.5 stars. Really enjoyed this, Charlotte and Levi is one of my favorite non romantic relationships I've read in a while. And again, very tempted to go back and read the entire Wattpad version.
I heard about the first book long after it had already become a wattpad sensation. I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of The Hunt as an ARC and I was really excited to get into it! I will say that the plot didn’t pick up until page 300. The book picks up where the first left off with Charlotte finding her place in this new home she finds her self in. Part of that means working for the pack and she chooses to be a tracker. While the hunt becomes exciting at page 300, I didn’t necessarily like the lead up to the hunt itself. It felt like a lot of filler where the first book felt like a rush from beginning to end. I saw that others were upset it wasn’t a love story, but I myself am glad it isn’t. I think found family is an important trope and should be done more! I’m interested to see where the story goes!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Star Read! I love that this book so easily picked up from the first book — The Bite. Charlotte finally fully transformed into a werewolf and starts her tracker training. There are parts in it that have you on the edge of your seat and biting your nails because you’re so invested in the story and the hunt they have to go through to be initiated into the pack and as a tracker.
I loved seeing Charlotte’s character development over the 2 books and how she started coming into her own. Coming from a DV situation she second guessed herself a lot and also had nightmares of her ex, but she started to get her confidence back and make decisions based on what she wanted. Usually in these type of books they make the newbie be “the best,” but I love that she still had to learn about the Pack ways and train to be any good at all. She wasn’t just automatically the best there was. Haha.
Another thing I loved is I got to see the ins and outs of how the Pack worked. I really hoping she finds her true mate in the next book because I feel like that would be good for her.
I received an early copy from NetGalley for an honest review.
The 14 year old in me was SCREAMING when I first found out ZW taylor was publishing the bite in ‘22. I immediately subscribed and preordered both the bite and the hunt. I understand the changes/editing. I truly do, bc ✨wattpad✨ but I was severely disappointed to see such minuscule AND vital things change in the story lines 😭😭😭 Bowie is a girl aka Remi’s MOM?? Hello? there’s no master of arms?? “His/her first” instead of alpha??? wtf is the “thunderhead pack”. wtf is the hunt w going into a silver embedded death trap Forrest. Where is the OG hunt where they go on a family trip to hunt BEARS. AND CHARLIE TAKING HER MOMS MAIDEN NAME STEVENSON INSTEAD OF THORNE?? I’m literally crying. {I’m just dramatic} Sure the original storyline could’ve benefitted from some tweaking/grammatical changes BUT it was golden. literally a masterpiece and way ahead of its time. This breaks my heart but I can’t wait to see her meet Ethan boy <3333. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
*This book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review*
Just like in book one, The Bite, I was happily surprised to see I enjoyed another book with little to no romance. There is a slight attraction in this book, but we also learn about True Mates so it made sense that the attraction fizzled out. When I first started this, I hoped there would be a romance because I thought Charlotte had grown a lot from her Trauma in book one, but I quickly realized she still had a lot to overcome. In book one, she becomes a werewolf, but in book two she needs to find her purpose, home, and security within the pack. I'm anxiously awaiting book 3 as I think we may get a True Mates situation eventually. I also really enjoyed that book two picks up right where book one ended and after reading the chapter 1 teaser from book three, I know that picks up pretty quickly after book two. It makes for a seamless read.
Overall, I enjoyed my time with book two. I learned a lot about this new life Charlie faces and watched her character learn and grow into her new identity. Will definitely be reading book three!
Took as long as I possibly could to finish this bc I didn’t want it to end. I love this series so so much and I cannot wait until the next book is released! (Side note, Liam gives me heart eyes and I just want them to bond damnit!😭🖤)
Ms. Taylor, you have done it again and made a beautiful gem of a novel. I could not stop reading (unless it was for restroom breaks or for snacks, because I am a simple girl). Everything amazing that could be put into a book, you did and you did extremely well! The plot was PLOTTING. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Besides a few typos, this book is perfection. Though, I must say, I am hoping book 3 will let Charlie girl find her mate…(I totally get it though, if she shouldn’t, I’d just love to see Charlotte experience the love she DESERVES). It has been a pleasure reading this love letter to our girl Charlotte, and I hope you let me do it again with the next one!!
This book is a treasure! It is so much more than just another werewolf book! Truly I can’t express how much I love this series and this author!
If I could jump into a book it would be this one. The characters, the world and the found family check all the boxes! The author writes so beautifully I just feel transported. I love how Levi calls Charolette “Charlie Girl” I just adore it and melt! If I got to have my grandfather longer I truly feel he would be an extension of Levi. A whiskey drinking hard ass that loves big, feels hard and is healing from the journey of life!
If you haven’t read bk 1, what are you waiting for! It’s a quick fun read with layers of found family, growth and strength! Charlie was in an abusive relationship and when she finally gets the strength to run she finds her self alone and lost in the Alaskan wilderness. Of course these remote woods would be home to big predators like bears and wolves. But Charlie finds that some wolves have a human side to them. After a near death experience she has to make a choice run or start fresh as a part of this new pack. Because werewolves are real and she’s one of them!
Book two was even more bingable and action-packed than book one. I am really enjoying this series so far! Love Charlie's journey from abused and on the run to finding out who she is and who she wants to be and learning to thrive in those parameters as a werewolf with her new found family.
I am immensely enjoying the side cast as well. I think Andrea was a great addition to the group and a much needed friend for Charlie. Overall, the addictive and bingable vibes carried over to book two nicely, making it a solid book in the series filled with mystery and thrills.
The Hunt was exactly what I was looking for! The story had the right amount of fantasy and a female main character that was so relatable. The pacing of the book was perfect and I am truly so invested in the world this author has built. Looking forward to seeing future books in this series!
This is the second book in the series and we are learning more about Charlotte and her new place within the pack.
This story is about healing and overcoming the past, your trauma and accepting who you are. You do have plenty of action, the story itself is well paced and beautifully written. I greatly enjoyed the interactions between the characters, I found myself cheering them along. You have the found family aspect with Elliot, Derek, Levi, and Charlotte. I loved being able to watch not only the story develop but the characters.
When Charlotte decided to try to become a tracker, I loved the support she was given. There was no trying to protect her, instead it was teaching her to always “go for the bone”. The hardest part for Charlotte was coming to terms with how violent the pack and their ways can be. She had to be willing to accept the monster inside and find a balance to work with her own wolf.
3.5/5⭐️ The Hunt is book 2 in The Moon Blood Saga with The Bite being book 1. Charlotte gets to start her tracker training as she’s finally fully turned into a werewolf.
My favorite part of this book was seeing Charlotte’s character development. I loved seeing her grow as a person and become confident in who she is as a werewolf. Charlotte is definitely one of my favorite characters.
Now I have to say, I came into this thinking there would be romance. There was not. So, don’t expect romance like I did when I picked up this book. That’s a reason I can’t give this book 4 stars or higher. Another reason is that it was an “okay” book. This book would be good for people getting into the paranormal werewolf genre, but as someone who’s read many werewolf books, it just didn’t live up to the other ones I’ve read.
However, I still throughly enjoyed this book and was on the edge of my seat with suspense for most of it.
I am definitely invested in Charlie Girl’s story at this point. I love the character development and the slow pace of this book really works for this world.
This book started out slow, which I expected after the Bite. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be as interested but it hooked me after a little bit. I loved the ending with the hunt! I think it was done very well and brought the perfect amount of excitement to the story.
I will continue reading this series once the next book comes out! I also love Levi’s development throughout the book, and Charlie’s growth. At first I was sad the vampires weren’t going to be in this book much but it worked out perfectly for Charlotte and Levi’s relationship.

"The Hunt" by Z.W. Taylor delivers an exhilarating sequel that picks up seamlessly where the first book left off, ensuring you are immediately back in the story. The narrative grips you from start to finish, showcasing Charlotte's journey as she struggles with her newfound werewolf identity and strives to prove her worth to the pack. Taylor skillfully navigates Charlotte's struggles with past traumas, adding depth to her character as she evolves into a formidable tracker. While some parts may feel slower-paced and overly lengthy, the payoff of the suspense makes it all worthwhile. What's refreshing is the absence of a romance subplot, allowing Charlotte to focus on her healing and embracing her inner strength. "The Hunt" sets the stage for an exciting continuation of the trilogy, leaving me eager for more!
I received this book as an arc for an honest review THIS BOOK IS SOOOO GOOD!!! If you have read the wattpad version you must read this one! It’s different but the same and it’s soo good! The characters and relationships are built so well! I read this book in one sitting, I seriously couldn’t stop reading! I absolutely adore this author! The way she puts everything into what she writes and truly thinks through even the smallest detail! Ahhhh I’m just obsessed! Everyone should read both this and the first book. 10/10 both of these books are for sure my favorite reads this year!! If you aren’t reading this saga, you are missing out!
Loved!!!! I read the first book in this series, The Bite, a couple of years ago when it first came out and I absolutely loved that book. The Hunt absolutely lives up to it! It was so good being back with the Thunderhead pack, watching Charlotte grow into her wolf, watching Levi start to accept his past and come out of his shell! I loved meeting new characters from the main pack and the few from surrounding packs, especially Andrea! I really enjoyed Char's journey to become a tracker and the big hunt in the forest, it's creepy and ominous and I cannot wait for the next book! The rogue wolves are definitely still a problem and I cannot wait to find out what this means for the pack and for Char!
I figured this would have middle book syndrome but it wasn't too bad!
We continue Charlottes journey with the next step, joining the pack. To do this she has to complete The Hunt and go into the dangerous forest and fight the evils within.
The middle was rough and the ending just kept going but I know that dang hemlock falls is where all the drama (and charlottes bonded) better be!
i’m tweaking because why have i not seen my husband yet???? apparently he’s in the next book NOW TELL ME WHY THAT COMES OUT IN 2025. byeeee. anyways it was good as usual and truly is a slow burn becuase they haven’t even met yet🙏🏻❤️i need to be fed or else im gonna go feral waiting and ENTIRE YEARRRRR. 😒😒😒
I liked the growth of both Charlotte and Levi. I can't wait to read the next book. I'm excited to see where the story goes. It's pretty interesting. It was a little slow at first but it picked up.
Ahhh!!! This was everything that I needed and more for book 2 in the saga.
THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IN THESE BOOKS IS SIMPLY AMAZING. I love Charlotte and the pack.
Book 2 starts where we left off in book 1. We get a little romance in this book but charlottes healing and being alone for the first time is crucial for her character development and overall well being after everything that happened and will happen. With that said it doesn’t play a huge part.(WHICH IS 100% OKAY, these books are fantastic.)
(I’m so excited to read about Charlotte and Andrea.)
Plot Description: adventurous challenging mysterious tense medium-paced Plot- or character-driven? Plot Strong character development? It's complicated Loveable characters? Yes Diverse cast of characters? Yes Flaws of characters a main focus? No
Giving this a solid 4 ⭐️ for the same reasons I gave The Bite a 4.
It was difficult for this book to keep my attention, but that’s probably because I read the unpublished version of the MoonBlood Saga on Wattpad a few years ago. Those versions were 3 very long books, and I do remember the first one being kind of slow because it was very focused on world building and character introductions. It seems like, in these published versions, the author is spreading some of those things out between different books. I will say, “The Hunt” was a fresh new story from the originals, although it did contain some of the same outcomes. So it is slightly refreshing if you’ve read the original versions of the saga.
Overall, this was a pretty solid follow up to the Bite. If you appreciate when a fantasy series takes it time to build the world at a pace that’s a little more digestible for readers, you might appreciate this. I would still say this book series is very slow-burn, not just in the romantic subplot but also in the overarching plot of the series. But the Hunt does give you a solid foundation for the world the series is set in.
I would recommend this to readers who enjoy slower-paced series (or at the very least don’t mind a slower start as long as the pay off is epic, which having read the original unpublished versions of the saga on Wattpad, I feel confident in saying it will be). I would also reccomend this to readers who are fans of some of the popular fantasy series out there that are mostly about fae, but are open to reading something slightly different as this series is about werewolves. I think this saga has all the political intrigue (and will have the swoon-worthy love interests) these popular series are known for.
I look forward to the next book in the saga.
*thank you to the author, Z. W. Taylor, the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader of this book.
It was hard reading The Bite since I’ve read it a million time on Wattpad and felt like my favorite world was changing but this book was spectacular, it was more different and intricate and I enjoyed the world and character building that we didn’t see in the original. I was worried to read it but now I am very excited to see where Z takes it, I have faith this will be great.
Special thanks to netgalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Okay I will admit to having been an original reader of this series back in its wattpad days and am so happy to see this author getting the chance to publish the story. That said, wow has this story ever changed! I was a little wary after the first book which felt like a much more drawn out version of the original story, but I would also say that this book made up for that tenfold. I feel like this is the book where the series really starts to break ground as the mystery of the forest, the rogues, and this ominous voice starts to really take shape. I found myself really captivated by the story wondering what would come next, and puzzling over some of the mysteries.
Former readers should go in knowing this is a very different version of the original story, but I would say it is actually an improved one. I was wary at first, but the changes to the characters, dialogue, and just general world building details have made this a stronger story that still has the same heart as energy as the first one!
The one thing that I will say keeps me from giving this book a full five stars is that while it was really building towards one, I feel like the climax of the book never fully landed. So much ground work was building up to the hunt and I was expecting something more vital to take place that would swing the series’ greater plot into further focus but that didn’t really happen. The book was definitely still a very interesting read, but I just felt it needed a bit more of a punch at the end there. That said, it’s still quite deserving of a 4.5 stars!
That said, now that I’m done I am in a reading slump because all I want is the third book. Truly I am desperate. And to anyone reading this who knows the old version, it’s all because I am waiting (*desperately*) for Ethan.
I was so excited to find out that there was another book in this series and much to my surprise not only was I gifted the first book but I was also lucky enough to be given the second book as well. There are so many werewolf books out there and there are so many different ways that authors can portray them that sometimes it makes it super confusing however this series was great. ZW Taylor puts their own unique spin on the wearwolf genre and it was very fascinating to read about. While the first book was all about our main character Charlotte turning into a wearwolf this book is more about the pack and Charlotte fitting into her new life. I found this book to be a little bit more interesting because it was all about the wearwolves which is where my interests lie. While Charlotte is now officially a wearwolf she is assigned her first real task. In order to get her position as a part of the pack she must capture a deer. However it isn't as simple as it sounds for she must do so in "Trappers forest" a place, like the name suggests, is littered with old traps and ghosts determined to see her fail. What I loved about this book was even though Charlotte is now a wearwolf she is still getting used to itnso you got to see her first hand experiences as she was dealing with her first hunt. I loved how the author almost made out main character Charlotte and her inner wolf side two different entities. It was very interesting to watch her struggle to live side by side with her inner beast and not stifle it or let it control her. I think that might have been my favorite part about this whole series. This was a great read not just for lovers of this author but for all fantasy lovers alike. I'm so glad not only that this became a series but also the fact that I was lucky enough to read this book early. Go and check it out I guarantee it won't disappoint.
