ICY AND BLACK, THE UNEXPLORED WATERS WERE AN INCOMPARABLE CHALLENGE...AND AN UNRELENTING TERROR
A mysterious, awesome force links the underwater caves beneath America's Death Valley and Loch Ness, Scotland, thousands of miles apart. Only one man dares to lead the mission to find it, veteran diver Kelsey Chase. Against him are human greed at its most savage and an inhuman power that has survived long past its natural time -- enraged enough to kill, too precious to be allowed to die...
A perfect summer read and a hidden gem for Cryptid Horror adventurers like me.
5 stars for:
Pulling me into the novel from page 1 -not always a given with even very popular authors I like.
Developing the beginning so I could connect with the characters right away, especially Kelsey Chase our main man, including his background tying into the story in a way I felt most fitting.
Making me turn the pages to the very end.
For not pulling the rug out from under my feet when the final cryptid mystery unfolded.
For a well-handled juggling of events that would not have come off as well with a less talented writer.
For being original in a field that is becoming harder and harder to be original in.
And for keeping my summer reading on a very high wave!
Highly recommended for Cryptid Adventure enthusiasts and like-minded summer readers -especially those that like to collect hidden gems.
Chase an expert diver barely escapes Devil's Hole to rescue lost divers in an underground tunnel, the caves a labyrinth of hell. Now Chase is recruited, paid enormously to lead a team to Loch Ness which has mysterious caves, interlinking places that have never been explored. One crew member has his skull smashed in by a 30 foot long eel looking creature. More exploring in a specially designed submarine will be destroyed by an even larger creature, crushing through the viewing glass, sharp teeth chomping on a body, legs dangling and then limp, the rest now gone into the mouth. Loosely an animal attack book but not gorey or stupid enough for my liking.
