This was still good, but I felt this sort of disappointment where based on the premise this should be my favourite T. M. Chris novella, and yet something was missing. It's mostly the timeline that just feels so rushed, but overall it's still a fun and ridiculous romp. Also: spanking.

Despite having many good ideas, Peyton has never followed through with anything in his life and is completely devoid of mettle. He's had a half-painted aqua wall in his apartment for years. As a person with many half-finished projects, I feel personally victimised by this book.
He somehow manages to actually commit to a 2-week reform program on a ranch, and though his friend Bettina insists he should have read the T&Cs, Peyton is sure it's going to be fine.
When he mouths off to his trainer and tries to shirk his duties, he realises it's not fine at all.

« J'aurais dû lire ce contrat. »Tex le frappa à nouveau, et le sursaut péremptoire de Peyton fit que le coup atterrit sur sa cuisse au lieu de la partie charnue de son derrière. « Tu t'es engagé pour ça, Peyton, et j'ai l'intention de te le donner. »
« Je ne me suis pas engagé pour ça . Je me suis engagé pour la discipline. »
« Uh huh. » Tex le frappa plus fort.
Les coups tombaient à présent régulièrement, un à gauche, un à droite, chacun dans le mille, tant qu'il ne se tortillait pas trop. Il avait l'impression que son derrière était rougeoyant, et il était visiblement là où quiconque entrerait dans la grange le verrait. La perspective d'être surpris en train de se faire baiser par le beau cow-boy musclé ne l'avait pas dérangé, mais se faire prendre en train de se faire tabasser comme un écolier mal élevé était une autre affaire.
« Je vais te poursuivre en justice jusqu'en enfer », a-t-il menacé.
« Contrat », lui rappela Tex sans interrompre son assaut. « Et de toute façon, tu ne le feras pas. Parce que tu ne respectes jamais rien. »
C'était encore plus douloureux que les coups. Parce que Tex avait raison. Même s'il avait le droit légal de porter plainte, et peut-être n'en avait-il pas – leur avait-il vraiment donné la permission de le fesser ? – il n'aurait jamais le temps de le faire.
« Écoute », a-t-il négocié. La fessée avait été presque drôle au début – humiliante, mais pas physiquement insupportable. Mais chaque coup suivant a fait monter le feu. Il pouvait sentir l’empreinte de la main de Tex comme une marque, il pouvait l’imaginer briller comme une marque aussi, blanche avant de passer au rouge. « Je m’en vais. J’arrête. Le contrat n’est pas valide si j’arrête. »
« Tu n'as pas le droit d'abandonner cette fois, Peyton. La seule façon de t'en sortir, c'est de passer à l'action. Vas-tu arrêter de te débattre et accepter ça comme un homme, ou dois-je te mettre sur mes genoux ? »
Tex desserra la prise qu'il utilisait pour maintenir la poitrine de Peyton ancrée à la botte de foin, ce que Peyton prit comme une invitation à partir. Il se précipita vers la porte mais ne réussit qu'à faire un seul pas avant de trébucher sur son pantalon et de s'écraser la tête la première sur le sol.
Mon Dieu, il était un tel raté. Il n'arrivait même pas à s'arrêter complètement. Tout lui est tombé dessus en même temps. L'épuisement, la douleur, le dégoût de soi et cette autre chose, celle que Tex avait pointée plus tôt comme étant la cause de tous ses problèmes : la peur.
Soudain, il se mit à pleurer. Il hurlait comme un veau nouveau-né, le visage planté sur le sol jonché de paille et son pantalon autour de ses genoux. Tex le remit sur ses pieds et l'épousseta, puis s'assit sur la botte de foin sur laquelle Peyton s'était penché si récemment et le tira sur ses genoux.
« J’aime te voir pleurer, petit cow-boy. »
« Pourquoi ? » demanda Peyton entre deux sanglots. De toute évidence, cet homme était un horrible et cruel sadique.
« Parce que pour la première fois depuis que je t'ai rencontré, tu prends quelque chose au sérieux. Le rire est tout à fait normal, mais tu l'utilises comme un mécanisme de défense pour cacher ce qui se passe vraiment en toi. Alors vas-y et pleure un bon coup. C'est une émotion sincère. Tu n'as pas fait de ton mieux aujourd'hui. Tu m'as laissé tomber, et maintenant tu en payes le prix. Ce sont des choses pour lesquelles il vaut la peine de pleurer. »

Peyton goes to The Bars and Stars dude ranch because he needs someone to whip his life into shape. He never finishes anything he starts. He heard from some guy that they were great at helping men change their attitudes and their lives.
Little did he know that they dole out punishments for those who don’t follow orders or who sass the trainers. Their punishment, spankings. Tex is Peyton’s trainer and he is some major eye candy. Peyton quickly learns that the punishments are real and they hurt!
I wasn’t sure if this short story would end in an HEA (I need at least an HFN or I get sad). Peyton fell fast for Tex but Tex kept telling him that he was a client and that sex and relationships weren’t allowed.
Spoiler alert, it ends in an HFN/HEA and, yes, they have sex during Peyton’s 2 week stay at the ranch.

I enjoyed this story. Most kids learn somewhere along the way about starting and finishing tasks. Not so with Peyton. He has managed to make it through school and even somewhat holding down a job but has yet to really get started. Everyone around him just allows him to do his own thing which is nothing. Even his best friend over compensates for all his lack of trying. Then he meets someone who tells him just a little about The Bars and Stars a bootcamp that help train guys to overcome their issues. It’s their way of training that I though was funny. Peyton’s trainer Tex, has his hands full with Peyton but does his best to keep Peyton on the program path. I feel this is another fun book by this author. Even though there is plenty of seriousness to the stories, they always are told in a enjoyable way.

A lethargic unmotivated slacker takes the plunge at self-improvement by signing up for a fortnight of motivational therapy at a Dude Ranch. He's in for some surprises because, having refrained from doing proper research beforehand, he's not prepared for what awaits him.
As always, T.M. Chris takes the premise here and runs with it... straight into a delightful HEA.
Loved it.

Peyton just drifted through life and never really applied himself until a dance partner suggested he attend The Bar and Stars ranch to find himself. Peyton got way more than he realized when he showed up and discovered it was a ranch like no other. Here Peyton works with Tex and learns that his preconceived notions of the camp are way off. Tex is there to “oversee” Peyton and the completion of tasks and if Peyton fails he is held to account for his actions. This book was a wonderful read and I don’t want to spoil it for you so enough said. Do I recommend you read it? Heck Yea! You will definitely enjoy the trials and tribulations that Peyton has to go through to become a more disciplined individual and the part that Tex plays in his present and future. A truly delightful read!

Worked: An MM Spanking Story by author T.M. Chris is nine chapters long but is an amazing read. I loved the connection the characters have. It is hard to do a full story in a short story but this one feels like a full novel. I loved that.
Peyton he is on the Stars and Bars dude ranch. He is a lost soul when we meet him. He wants to be come a new man. I loved how his journey comes full circle. He is a well thought out character that I loved getting to know.
Tex is a worker on the ranch. He is a down to Earth guy and someone that really wants to help Peyton achieve his goals. He wants more but isn’t sure he should.

This is an enjoyable, quick read. If you like spanking you will definitely enjoy this! I found their connection a little tenuous because Tex has been doing this for a while, and he never stepped over the line with anyone else. I guess I need to accept that it is just one of those immediate connections that sometimes happen. I did like that Peyton finally found his motivation to live his life fully. And they are sweet together. Definitely worth the time if you're looking for something that will make you smile without asking too much of you.

A cute, fun short story. Peyton could never finish a task, so he signed up to go to The Bars and Stars Ranch for two weeks, hoping they could whip him into shape. There he was paired with Tex, a handsome, rugged, no-nonsense rancher, who gave Peyton spankings when he failed to complete a task. Along the way, they fell in love.
The story was way too insta-love for me-- I didn't buy it. And Peyton was not very likeable. There was a cute epilogue.

This is a fun little story. Slacker Peyton needs some guidance on getting motivated and following through on things. So, he signs up for bootcamp at The Bars and Stars. Think Billy Crystal in City Slickers, right? Hmm, not quite. Tex is a cowboy through and through, and Peyton gets a 'firm hand' in more ways than one. I enjoyed this sexy, steamy read.

Loved
I can only wish this story was longer. I would have happily stayed in the world of Peyton gaining mettle and Tex being the one to teach him. Watching them fall in love was fun! Hope there are more stories like this from the author in the near future. Especially if they are longer.
I can only wish this story was longer. I would have happily stayed in the world of Peyton gaining mettle and Tex being the one to teach him. Watching them fall in love was fun! Hope there are more stories like this from the author in the near future. Especially if they are longer.

Another excellent story from Tanya. Ugh, I loved it. I can totally relate to Peyton, and I’m just obsessed with bratty characters who need a stern hand, okay?
Nothing is holding my interest these days, but this story managed to, so that’s a huge win for me.

Enjoyable
I enjoyed Tex and Peyton’s story. It’s a quick, fun, low angst read and very on-brand for T. M. Chris with a healthy dose of domestic discipline mixed in with the romance.

This is a fun book with light bdsm and good spankings. Peyton needs motivation and Tex is the best teacher. I enjoyed it all!
