I really liked the storyline. I did get a bit confused toward the end where the “big conflict” is set up, however, it was a quick fix with a bit of re-reading. I absolutely loved the characters and their chemistry together.

Grumpy Boss Enemy. Great read! This book was exciting and intriguing. I was caught in the story and couldn't put it down! A friendship from long ago is destroyed by an ugly incident in the past. Alexis is determined to changed that now that everyone is grown. Alexis had a crush on Cohen when they were young. Cohen was her brother's best friend and off limits, but that didn't stop her from crushing on him or Cohen from crushing on her. Cohen was accused of a bad crime in college. He thought that Alexis had told everyone his secret so he hated her for it. Now that they are older, Alexis wanted to confront Cohen and resolve their issues. Alexis is a chef and decided to ask for a job at Cohen's hotel. At first he refused. Alexis begged and asked for a trial period. He gave the trial period but made it truly hard for her to do anything right. As time goes on, they develop a friendship again and Alexis decides to ask the question of why he hated her so much. That brought up a lot of the past and people started talking and the past hit the fan again and now Cohen's hotel is in jeopardy of closing because of the past again. Cohen decides to find out the truth and leave the past in the past once and for all. You must read to find out who rally caused all the problems. Its going to surprise you! I liked the first half of Alexis and Cohen's story. Alexis is struggling after being duped by her ex-fiance who took all her funds and ran. At a party she runs into Cohen her childhood crush who she hasn't seen since a misunderstanding from college. There is still chemistry between them but also animosity. Lex comes off strong in the beginning trying to get a job as a chef not letting anybody stand in her way after her last rejection she pushes her way asking for a trial and it turns out to be at the hotel Cohen just purchased. He decides to give her a chance with the intent to break her down. Once they get through that hoop it's like her whole persona changes and then I don't know they never really talk about what happened in the past, she finds out her brother was involved instead of investigating that or letting Cohen know she keeps it to herself, she thinks he is seeing someone but sleeps with him and then gets mad at him the next day, when the past resurfaces and there is a drunk recording of her telling someone about his past and who his dad is but she is trying to convince him she didn't betray him, what it's ok because your drunk your not responsible for your actions and then I just think when it's finally revealed behind the college debacle it was ridiculous and then Cohen rushing to apologize and beg for forgiveness was just no.

I received an ARC through BookSprout and volunteered to leave a review.

The Truth Doesn’t Stay Hidden Forever -
The last person Alexis expected to meet again was her childhood sweetheart, Cohen, who broke her heart when he left her under a cloud of suspicion. Unfortunately, Alexis was in dire straights as she needed a job desperately, but she was turned down for the job which was her last hope. However, just as she managed to convince them to give her a chance, Cohen stepped in to reject her.

Fortunately, she was able to convince Cohen to give her a chance, but he made sure to make her life a living hell on a daily basis, that is until he realised she wouldn’t quit. Unfortunately, just as they settled their issue and embarked on their second chance, the issue from Cohen’s past reeked havoc on their lives. However, he was able to resolve the issue and dispel all the false rumours that had been spread about him, so that he could get his happily ever after with Alexis and his daughter.

The reason I really enjoyed this second chance romance story, was because it had a healthy dose of angst, drama, steamy moments and an emotionally challenging issue, that gave the storyline a lot of depth. I high recommend this page turner, that is a perfect book to help you unwind before you go to bed.

What happens when your childhood crush that broke your heart is now your grumphole of a boss!?
Alexis is a woman in dire need of a job, she is ready to prove herself and her talents has a chef to all and anyone one if that includes a man from her past, Cohen. Cohen was Alexis's brother's friend when a secret and lie left their past in shambles. It is the classic story of misunderstandings, water under the bridge and wrongs that need to be righted. Now Cohen has the chance to make her squirm for the past indiscretions, but she is ready to set the past straight and prove she is just the woman for this job. This couple is struggling, they are sassy, filled with angst, have that underlying smolder and neither one is ready to back down from what they believe!

Alexis and Cohen were childhood sweethearts, until he broke her heart when he left her. She is in need of a job, but her boss would be Cohen. She convinces him to give her a trial where she can prove she is worthy of the position. He agrees, but makes it difficult for her by trying to make her life hell every day, that is until he realises whatever he does, she is not going to quit. But when his past comes back to haunt him, will this ruin their second chance together.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

Cohen and Alexis were childhood friends/enemies. They lived next door to each other and were frenemies. When they went away to college an incident happened that changed Cohen's life, but he pressed on. Alexis had her own issues when her ex took off with her funds leaving her almost homeless. She and Cohen reconnect when she applies for a job at his hotel and their journey really begins. Along the way they came up against emotional twists and turns. Will they weather this storm to make it to a happily ever after? This story had me in their corner cheering for them to get their chance for happiness.

Alexis and Cohen have a history and it wasn't a good one. Now years later they run into each other when she applies for a job. She is given a probation period to prove herself to Cohen. However, he is awful about everything she does and humiliates her while doing it. As time passes things heat up between them and they try to move on together. However, a misunderstanding has Cohen pulling away again. Will Alexis risk another chance with him?

This is a great story that will hook you in the first chapter. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

Alexis was really having a bad day to top off all the other bad days that have happened in her life lately, she's in desperate need of a job and really just begs an old school friend for a chance. There is plenty of drama in Cohen's past that comes to bite him now. I didn't really connect with either Alexis or Cohen yet I was glad they managed to get their HEA.

This book had it all! The past drama from their college years, a school girl crush on her brothers best friend, and a whirlwind of an ex girlfriend to give anyone a run for their money! If you are looking for a book that will take you on an adventure while you are able to grow attached to characters and cheer them on, this is definitely a book you should read.

There is talk of sexual assault in this book, but does not go into detail.

This book is one for my recommend to others pile.⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book had a lot more depth than I've come to expect from other books written in this genre. It sucked me in and made it hard to put down. All the characters were likeable (with exception of Maris), especially the two MC'S, they both had moments that made me feel for them emotionally. I liked their HEA, and I thought their epilogue was cute. This one is definitely going into the books I would recommend for other people's pile. 😊
